I had a takeaway of a red bead fish taiyaki back home. Mr. Obanyaki Pancake had changed quite a lot since the last time I was there and the prices have also increased. A fish taiyaki costs at least $1.60 now. The red bean flavoured taiyaki which I got costs $1.60. As I ate it only this morning, I had it heated up slightly in the toaster and it is as good as freshly made as the exterior is crispy. The red bean filling is quite substantial and the filling is rather sweet as well. The filling is not entirely smooth like a paste, but rather it is a mixture of mashed red beans where there is still some visible red bean bits which are not entirely blended. The taiyaki is quite filling, I ate one for breakfast and it kept me satisfied until lunchtime. continue reading

Mr Obanyaki Pancakes serves two types of pancakes. One of them is the normal round pancakes one can usually see at Mr Bean.  The other is the fish-shaped pancake,  more commonly known as Taiyaki.Anyway i ordered 2 taiyakis and they already had it but it was still relatively hot. So its good. Normally i opt for the fish shaped one rather than the round one cause i think they have more fillings and for the price of $1.50/fish shaped pancake, its not too big a price difference. continue reading

Mr obanyaki at ngee Ann city is where I always frequent to get my fix of Japanese pancakes. I usually get the fish shape ones cause they are so adorable! The best flavour is still the regular red bean even though I also like the sweet and rich chocolate flavours the pancake here is light unlike other places which can be too dense. This means you don't feel too full from eating them! continue reading

I love the Japanese pancakes here, I always get the red bean filled fish shaped ones which are best when they are freshly made. When fresh from the pan there is a crisp outer coating encasing a light batter which was airy and fluffy. The pancake is generously filled with lots of red bean paste which is absolutely delicious. On top of that its quite reasonably priced at only $1.40 continue reading

This is my all times favourite snack. Whenever I want to have something to bit on the street, I will definitely choose this Japanese pancake in fish form with either red bean or cheese filling. There are numbers of places selling it, few of them I have tried. At the end of the day, I would prefer medium thick pancake with generous filling, it has a balance texture. Whereas there was a stall emphasised thin pancake with overflow filling, at first I thought it was a good buy. I was so eager to try it then I didn’t like it, filling was too much, I felt like I was eating the filling only. This stall is always my choice. continue reading
