I 'da-bao' a coffee steam cake and a matcha steam cake. Basically the steam cakes were plain and were the same. A morehealthier choice as compared to muffins I supposed. The flavors were infused into the cream itself (coffee and matchacream) and a little final touches to make them looked different. What a waste of decoration as these steam cakes were placed in plastic bags which smudged and spoiled the appearance. I felt that they tasted too bland and not as nice as they looked. continue reading

The steamed cakes come from Hokkaido and all the ingredients used are from Japan. Supposedly very healthy too cuz they are ”non-oil” and the flavourings are “natural”.I tried the matcha (green tea) kintoki and kurogoma (black sesame) mochi kintoki ($2 each)… And was disappointed. Bland, texture was sticky and chewy rather than soft and fluffy. Maybe like our Chinese “huat kueh”? Anyway, these cakes are really “what you see is what you get” cuz the sweet kintoki beans/mochi are limited to the top of the cakes. continue reading

They have so many varieties of steam cakes and in different styles from donuts to cupcakes to muffin styles, it's very hard to choose just one thing to try! It's all so colourful and nicely presented as well. Recommended. The Hokkaido steamcake is really soft. The taste of pumpkin is really sweet. The real pumkin chunk at the outer layer attract pumpkin lover like me. However the price is really expensive for a student like me and i will not eat it so often. I will still try a few flavours because there are many choices from Mushiya.. continue reading

This too, was actually my first time visited to this store. Happened to pass by this shop and have the urge to try their muffins. It is actually located at the corner of the ion Food Hall, so it is actually quite hard to spot it. To me, their muffins, can be a little bit too dry, however glad that their toppings enhance the taste. But anyway, they do offer us a wide variety of choices,. And the price, is actually quite affordable too continue reading

The cakes here are like the Chinese steam cakes at kueh shops. But this is supposed to be Japanese. The cakes here are very small and costs from $2 each, which I find to be too pricey. Although their unique and innovative flavours make them sort of worth the cost. The have steamed donuts as well. It's cheaper to buy in bulk.
