I'm a bit disappointed with the rice offered here, as it tastes more like ordinary white rice instead of chicken rice. - Half of a steamed white chickenThe chicken itself was not smooth and tender enough.- Prawn rollsThe prawn rolls were much better, as they were very crispy and the filling was tasty.- Pumpkin prawnsThe pumpkin prawns were also good. They were fried to a nice crisp and coated with a smooth tasty pumpkin sauce. A healthy alternative to salted-egg prawn.- Stir fried baby kai lanThe baby kai lan was average-tasting.Perhaps this stall will fare better as a zi-char stall instead of a chicken rice restaurant...... continue reading

I decided to return back to have some of their home-made prawn rolls after cravings for it. The service is still not much better, with the servers slow to take the orders and unsure of what was on the menu and the ingredients used. The prawn rolls however were good. They were fried till crispy and very hot when they arrived. The fillings were generous and the sauce pretty decent. continue reading

The last time I went to Nam Kee was probably 5 years ago, when there was still long queue and the minimum waiting time to get a seat was 30 minutes. 5 years later, I decided to visit this place again because I really miss the food there! But I was greatly disappointed by the standard of the food served now as I grew up having the chicken rice here for lunch with my family every Sunday. The chicken no longer taste tender and fresh, it carries a weird taste for both roast and steam chicken a like. I'm guessing they probably used frozen chicken to prepare. This is the only dish that is palatable. The fried tofu is slightly above average, not the best I've had. Comparing this to what they used to serve, this is a substandard. Deep fried prawn. There was totally no "wok hei" fragrance even though it's deep fried. The batter was bland. Stir fried kai lan with garlic. just average. I guess this is the last time I'll visit Nam Kee. continue reading

My last visit was many many years ago and i still remember they serve really nice chicken rice. I think i may have caught them on a bad day as today's experience was quite disappointing. Firstly, the rice did not smell or taste like chicken rice. During payment we were also told that chicken rice and plain rice cost the same, maybe that explains the lack of effort in the rice now? We also ordered one half chicken mixed (white and roast), baby kailan, fried prawn ("de-shelled" ones), fried tou fu. The chicken was a little disappointing, did no taste as smooth as those tian tian and ah zai chicken rice standard. The fried toufu is probably the only dish i enjoyed more. Hopefully my next visit will be better, i do like this place especially its air-conditioned. But if the standard of chicken does not improve, i dun see myself returning again. I was told by friends that the son helms the stall now maybe that explains the dip in chicken standard. continue reading

I remember eating here since I was a kid.But as we grew up, the number of cars on the roads increased. And ever since parking became a problem here, my family never ate here again in what felt like forever.Till I had this for dinner with my friend. The hainanese chicken was all that jazz. yummydelish but pretty fatty really. And that salty chicken stock soup. I had refills because it was boiling hot in the blasting air con. hmmm. continue reading
