In my opinion, I find that the Nene Pop ($5+), which comes with a drink of your choice, and a small platter of popcorn chicken and potato puffs, was expensive. It comes in a drinks cup and then 1/4 from the top, there is another layer to fill the finger foods. The popcorn chicken and potato puffs is nicely fried, crispy and all but i was a little miffed by the portion. It comes with sweet and spicy sauce and so the chicken and potato is not that dry. Even so there is the drink if one gets thirsty from eating all that fried stuffs. So although the portion is small, it is quite an innovative idea to put the drink and food in one container that is easy to eat on the go.

We like how they dribble the sauce over the chicken instead of letting us do the dipping ourselves. It gives the impression that it is a dish by itself.

The outlet is quite a small one, it has a cosy feel and vibrant atmosphere -- almost like eating it in the heart of Seoul. It can be a bit pricey.. Would definitely come back to try the other flavours, but because of its steep price compared to the other fried chicken brands, I doubt I will make it a regular habit.

This fast food restaurant is my first time trying it. Irregardless of its taste and appearance, both impressed me. The restaurant was quite comfortable which was cooling and quite spacious. Have bought their Freaking hot super deal meal during the lunch time. The chicken meats were really tender and juicy. The spicyness in it really can burnt your lip but was really appetizing and flavourful. French fries are very crispy and not too oily as well. Coke was gassy enough and goes really well

NeNe Chicken at Star Vista isn't all that easy to find. A small shop housing around 20 seats at best is located along one of the smaller side alleys and indeed very easy to miss. The interior was simple, minimalistic - wooden table tops and flat bench chairs - spruced up by a cartoonish wall mural of light pastel colours that brought that touch of levity.

Food wise, $9.90 gets you a set meal at NeNe Chicken. A meal would include your choice of flavoured fried chicken, a packet of fries, a small drink and side of radish.

Swicy Chicken Set As recommended, I picked the Swicy - sweet and spicy - Chicken. Bummer. Despite how the chicken looked, it was by no means crunchy, the sweet and spicy glaze was more cloying than flavourful and did more to reduce the appeal of the chicken by making it mushy, rather than helping it along. The fries were better, skinny fries that were reminiscent of the A&W curly fries in the past.

My Verdict: Showdown of the Korean Fried Chicken was won hands down by 4 Fingers. Unless you like your fried chicken more glazed, then consider trying NeNe Chicken.

As I'm not in the mood for spicy stuff, I ordered a Snowing Cheese Meal that comes with fries, a drink, radish and of course the chicken. At the price of $9.90, I find it a little way too expensive than fastfood restaurant like KFC.

As the seating capacity is limited, I asked for a takeaway initially but as I waited for my order, there are seats available as customers went off after finishing. So I decided to dine in. They use the paging device for orders which is good as you don't have to crowd around at their counter when the place is already so small. Got my food and settled down to tuck in.

The fries is simply the curly fries that we used to have at A&W. Exactly the taste. The looks of it tell the whole story but just that it is not in the ring curly form but look just like any other fries in strip form. I like it very much.

And as for the chicken, even before having it, the smell to me is a little nauseous. I mean I have this love-hate affair with cheese. But after eating it, you would smell it. The meat is tender, chewy plus way bits of juicy. Not very dry. The outside is crispy, minus the coated cheese stuff on it.

I can't be that judgmental so I shall give it another try for their spicy choice the next round, having to see that it is kind of 'dirty' job as you have to wear the gloves provided. Quite interesting to me.

NeNe Chicken is a fast food restaurant that specialize in selling different kind of chicken flavour. I find that the restaurant was thoughtful, as gloves were provided, which save me the hassle of washing my hands. The hot and spicy chicken was indeed very spicy, so I do not recommend this to people who do not enjoy spicy food. However, it has too little seating capacity, thus finding a seat can be a problem.

The snowing chicken (fried chicken coated lightly with cheese) came with 2 side dishes. The mixed salad tasted ok, but the ordinary-looking pickled white radish were surprisingly very good! It was refreshing to taste that after eating all the fried chicken pieces. The chicken is freshly fried upon ordering, so you gotta wait a while for it to come.

Although the chicken was fried, it did not feel oily at all. The pieces were crispy on the outside and rather tender on the inside. I will prefer more cheese to be coated on the chicken though. Well, if you are a fan of fried chicken, I guess this place is worth a try if you do not mind the higher price.

The side dish that I have ordered was French Fries. Although they were oily and unhealthy but they tasted really good as they were tasty and crispy. They are located on the bottom left of the photo.

The dish costs about $10 which I think is not very worth it.

The chicken parts they use are not your huge KFC chicken parts, they are more similar to nasi lemak kind of chicken, small drumstick and wings. I felt that there wasn't any wow factor about the taste of the chicken. The sauce seems quite ordinary and i would go for KFC which is more value for money and easy on the pockets also.

We had Green Onion Tender Meal for takeaway ($10.30) which included coleslaw, pickled radish, rice and coke. The chicken was average as we found it too dry and a little tough. Flavour-wise, it was still quite tasty and made up for the lack of texture. The portion was alright for one pax although we were anticipating a bigger portion for that price.Overall, the quality of food was not really worth the price and wait (we had to wait for almost 15 mins for fast food quality).

Like PSY, Korean fried chicken is popular amongst singaporeans which explains the rise in number of places selling them. I tried this one and it's not that bad if you are into thick layers of batter with lots of sauce added. I had the chicken tenders which are nice insofar as they are bite-sized and opted for the safe sesame sauce. The sauce could have been less sweet but the chicken was quite well done.

Second visit to this outlet and have tried 2 different flavours so far... Swicy and Freaking Hot Chicken. I really like the upgrade to Nene Pops, it was more worth it then the other combo. For those who intend to take up the challenge of the Freaking Hot Chicken, I must warn you that you may regret your decision. I am someone who really loves spicy food, but this chicken made me cry. What struck me was the small size of the outlet - a standard shop unit with the kitchen taking 1/4 of the space, the order counter taking 1/4 and the remainder being the seating area which can accommodate only 15 diners or so. It was full on Friday late afternoon so we had to shelve plans to try the de riguer two piece chicken set. We opted for NeNe Pop and NeNe Bap, priced at $5.90 nett each.

After paying for our order we were given a round, palmsized timer that looked like a paperweight, and was asked to return when it lights up and emits a buzzing sound (similar to the ones used at Medzs Bistro at Orchard Central B2). So this is not your typical fast food outlet - we waited about 15mins along the corridor outside the shop, eyeing the window display of its neighboring toy cum stationery shop to kill time. The food was worth waiting for. NeNe Bap was a twist on the popular Bibimbap - rice topped with chicken bits, shredded seaweed, shredded vegetables and a tasty sauce that reminded me of bulgogi marinade. NeNe Pop is actually a cup of soda (choice of coke, sprite or fanta) below a small bowl of tater tots (potato) and moreish, crunchy popcorn chicken drizzled with a bright red, sweet and spicy sauce (see photo). The NeNe Bap was reasonably priced but we felt the NeNe Pop was a little pricey. It was amazing that the popcorn chicken remained crunchy despite the sauce coating while the chicken meat beneath the batter remained moist. Next time we will order the fried chicken through their hotline and pick
