Set in a heartland place, AMK's New York New York has a pretty chic American concept - café bistro. New York New York has always been the place my friends and I frequent together for our occasional meet-ups. As the other branches nearer to our place has closed down, we decided to venture further to continue our little tradition. Servers who served as were very friendly and it felt quite nice to dine there. I tried the ginger chocolate this place as they were promoting it as a new drink. The ginger and chocolate combination doesn't really cut it for me and I think the next time round, I'll be good and stay with my usual hot chocolate choice! I'm glad I was adventurous enough to try it though! For those who are suffering from a blocked nose, I think the ginger in this drink will be enough to kick in and clear your nose! (: Next, I chose my main course - Spicy Seafood Tomato Penne in Parchment Paper - $15.90. I think the chefs were trying to cater to Singaporean's palate for spice! There were way too much chilli in the dish for me and I had a tough time swallowing every mouth as it gets spicier and spicier as time goes by. Luckily I had my drink to save me. On hindsight, I should've added the cheese in the shakers provided or asked for more tomato sauce to make it less spicy. One of the good thing about this is that they were quite generous in the amount of seafood given. The prawns were crunchy and succulent, squid had a really nice texture and the mussels were not overcooked! The penne pasta was soft and coated with the sauce. I recommend this for those who want to try something spicy! I really like this place as it has a diner concept where one can chill with their friends over coffee or tea and try out their American style food. I hope the remaining branches will stay strong and survive by bringing more customers in with a new menu. continue reading

Food is so-so...Had my dinner over there with my sister to celebrate her birthday. The foods are very typical American style - non-delicate (but not in a bad way), flavourful, and horribly huge in portion. The Fish N Chips should have give more sauce. I got barely enough sauce for half portion of the fish.Screaming fried shrimps for the starters and it was tasteless and floury. Roasted chicken was very huge in portion, which is good, but is not particular done well. The breast part is rather dry and tasteless. The sauce does address the dryness to some extent, the fries and potato wedges are not bad. continue reading

Had the chicken cutlet here at New york new york and it was really good. Firstly it is due to it being fried food. Which fried food ever tasted bad?! but other than that, Love the onion rings and fries that accompanied the chicken. The dish goes well with the lemon juice and it helps to rid some of the oil from the chicken. The chicken is not overcooked and not too dry. continue reading

Worst food i've ever eaten in my entire life. Not sure how does the long Q form, cant imagine how people eat such food? The service wasnt good either, the waitress slammed our drinks on the table. I ordered the soup and my friend decided to take the challenge of ordering the ultra big burger. The soup was diluted and when i asked the waitress for a new bowl, she's not happy. While my friend is an easy person when it comes to food, he couldnt finish the burger, the bun was hard and the patty is overcooked.First and last time. I thought the safest thing on the menu to order was the root beer float. But no. The vanilla ice cream they used was too sweet.............unsatisfying meal. continue reading

New York New York used to have numerous outlets, but I guess many of them closed down and it's understandable. Variety of food is rather wide, but the lack of new dishes fails to attract more customers. I wanted a quick dinner and decided to have their cheesy chicken cutlet - melted cheese over an enormous piece of deep fried chicken cutlet. Comes with fries and greens (I requested for more fries). Nothing special, but the melted cheese was good and complements the chicken well. continue reading
