Located right next to Pine Garden's Cake is their sister outlet, Next Door Deli. One would expect them to sell tons of sweet cakes and desserts, but no. They only sell eclairs, chiffon cakes and some cheesecakes, nothing compared to their sister. The fish was soft and tender, it didn't smell fishy. The tomato basil sauce was slightly sweet though salty at the same time. I enjoyed the fish, it was my "healthier" choice in comparison to the other menu options. However, the potatoes were too hard and the brocoli was tastless.

The portion was so tiny for $4.50. It was quite upsetting, so we ended up ordering another plate to share. The fries tasted meh... nothing fantastic.

Very value for money, the portion is huge. The meat is very tasty and there is some chestnut chunks in there to crunch on. The meat patty was thick and juicy. The bread was nicely toasted and slightly crispy.

The following dishes were ordered by my friends and they had positive comments about them.

Since it is monday today, the website says that for every 2 mains, you get a 3rd free. There were 5 of us, but the lady at the counter refused to let us get a second main for free, as she said there must be 6 people present. Pretty lame if you ask me.
Other Info. : Threesome monday, For every 2 person, the 3rd person gets their main free Top up $2.50 for a canned drink and a dessert (eclair or chiffon cake)

Came to this restaurant last night to have my meal with my fellow friends.  I have only ordered the grilled chicken, which is their popular dish here, which cost $7.80 per serving.  Portion served was not really that much and good enough to just satisfy one person.  Chicken meat was tender and juicy and the chicken skin was grilled till really fragrant as well.  THe mashed potato was served quite cold and was abit too dry. Next Door Deli is unpretentious in it's decorations and furniture. It preserves some of the old school neighbourhood elements, yet infuse some of new age concept.

As you walk into the cafe and find yourself a table, you will realise that there is a laminated sheet placed on the table that gives you an introduction to how to order food and drinks. The whole cafe is self serve from its drinks to desserts to main courses. That is the order you proceed through the cafe. We immediately thought of Ikea, like how you move through the different stations to get your food.

Wok Fried Laksa ($6) was a recommendation by one of the patrons in the cafe. She told us that she would come to the cafe for this dish and Wok-fried Mee Siam, which alternates with Laksa every week. As such, I decided to give it a try! Laksa comes with a chicken wing as well. The laksa taste was fragrant and the food was comforting. It's worth a try for those who are seeking an alternative to the Western-style brunch.

Crispy-grilled Chicken Steak ($7.80) was another popular dish of Next Door Deli. We felt that the chicken was quite well-cooked, juicy and tender. However, we felt that the dish could do with more oomph to make it stand out from other Western food places.

Overall, we felt that the food at Next Door Deli is priced at an affordable price. They offer discounts for students and teachers on weekdays as well. We reckon that it will be a popular hangout for students studying in nearby institutions. We feel that Next Door Deli has the potential to grow into something bigger if it adds more oomph and uniqueness to its menu. One good way would be offering self-made coffee to increase its attractiveness.

This sister cafe is just beside Pine Garden and you can also buy slices of cakes from Pine garden and bring it over here to enjoy with your meal. They have an ongoing promotion where you can get drinks at 50 percent off here if you purchase any cakes from Pine Garden.I ordered the plate of fish and chips for about $7 and it tasted really normal. The chicken wings which are on promotion at just 90cents each is a better deal as they are big and juicy.

Chicken steak dish I had was pretty good. For approx $7, you get to dine in a cafe and the portion was decent enough to fill. I enjoyed my chicken steak very much. It was grilled to perfection and not too oily for my waistline. Besides that, we had a dory fillet as well. This dish was however a little disappointing. By right for the price of $6.80 in a nice cafe setting we should not complain, but perhaps we were having too high of expectations since our last visit. This dish was just average ta

Go for the 90 cents chicken wing. Its super good. I wonder what's their secret recipe!

Quite surprised to find this pretty cafe in the neighbourhood of ang mo kio. We ordered chicken wings, fried laksa and pork & beef open burger. the chicken wing cost only 90cents, but the taste was so super it left me wanting more. If not for the sake of watching my wasitline, i really had the urge to order a few more. The wok fried laksa was very special. A little spicy and oily but the taste of laksa, dry version is very unique. The fish cake that was served with it was very fresh and crunchy.

The open burger was a little disappointing. The pork and beef combo did not taste exciting. It was the most expensive dish but tasted the most ordinary.

Nestled around the area where Cheng San Cooked Food Centre and Wet Market is located, Next Door Deli is a neighbourhood cafe run by the same guys by Pine Garden's Cake right beside the cake shop. It wasn't long before i decided to have the Grilled Chicken Steak. It was well complimented with garlic bread, sauteed vegetables and a mashed potato. The chicken steak had a very crispy skin which I liked, and the meat was soft, juicy and tender, though the downsides were it can be slightly greasy for some. The garlic bread seemed ok, being slightly toasted on the top while retaining it's fluffy texture at the bottom. The mashed potatoes here is rather unique; rather than a fully whipped-up potato that provides a smooth texture on the tongue, the mashed potato here had bits of potatoes that are not fully mashed up in them. The texture was rather interesting; while it was solid enough to chew, it was not that hard to ruin the entire texture of the mash.

Creative with their name, and opening next to the famous pines bakery, i had high expectation of the food here. I ordered the fried laksa. Who would think of having dried laksa right? The food came, and looks like a usual fried noodle, just with the slight spiciness of laksa. It comes with a fried wings and otah, which highly reminds me of nasi lemak. I added dessert, which is a slice of chiffon cake. Margarita Chiffon Cake, is strangely refreshing. The cake is light as well. Love it!

My friend and I decided to have lunch at Next Door Deli on a Sunday afternoon. We reached there pretty late, but because they were having a 20% discount for their Tea Time orders from 2pm to 5pm, we were in for a treat! Trying to split the bill amongst yourselves? Save the hassle as you pay individually when you collect your food. Yes, it is self service and therefore no service charge! Plus, there are no phoney GST charges, which means what you see is what you pay. ^.^Organic Spagehetti with Me

Organic Spagehetti with Meatballs - $7.80 (4/5)

The highlight of the dish is probably the meatballs. Trust me, they are not your typical IKEA meatballs. These are infused with diced carrots and celery, and they tasted really organic. I would definitely go back for their meatballs if I wasn't living so far away!

Crispy Grilled Chicken Steak - $7.80 (4/5)

It seems to me that they also made the mashed potato themselves. I didn't expect the grilled chicken to be that tender and juicy. And would you believe it, it wasn't even oily! Great for health conscious people, like me.

Margarita Chiffon Cake - $2.20 (4/5)

This is the highly raved dessert at Next Door Deli. Initially, I had very low expectation of the cake because it looked plain and similar to pandan cake.

But then again, never judge a book by its cover! After we were done drizzling the lime-infused tequila over the cake and sprinkling it with sea salt, the Margarita Chiffon Cake was ready to be savored! This is one of those things that made the both us go "mmmmm" as the delightful taste came as a surprise.

Enough said, this is a must try!

Sea Salt Brownie Popsicle with Vanilla Ice Cream - $2.90 (3/5)

As good as it may seem to be, the brownie was actually rather dry and both of us didn't like it at all.

Both of us agreed that the staff are really efficient and helpful! One of them even came up to have a small chat with us and it wasn't even awkward. Guess that's the perk of eating in a neighborhood huh. And guess what, Pine Garden Bakery is just next door! The cakes on display look really gooooood.

Next Door Deli is a pretty good place for meals that are worth your every penny.

This neighborhood cafe has been a new hangout to chill. I was here a couple of times for lunch or sometimes just for a drink and a bar of their signature brownie. They serve one of the better brownie that i tried in Singapore. They should have consider serving it with ice cream! With or without ice cream, it still tasted as good. The texture was soft and moist with a hint of quality chocolate taste. This brownie is definitely worth coming back for.

Wok Fried Laksa Noodles With Chicken Wing and Fish Cake (Very different from normal Wet Laksa, even it is dry but the fragrance of wet Laksa is still there, Chicken Wing is tasty and not too oily, this dish is a MUST TRY) **Note that the deli serves Their Signature Laksa and Mee Siam every alternate week. For just only $6

Grilled Chicken Steak with Mashed Potatoes, Garlic Bread and Garden Vegetables with Thousand Island dressing (The grilled/roasted chicken was mind blowing! The chicken skin is amazingly crispy while the meat is tender underneath, mashed potatoes are those are not fully mashed so still can feel the little bits of potatoes in your mouth which is good, the garlic bread is way better than Hans ones!) For just only $7.80

Sea Salt Brownies Popsicle With Vanilla Ice Cream (The thick chocolate covered the Brownie Popsicle allows you to eat it jus like a ice cream, really one of its kind) at only $2.80

great to know this little heart-warming place in the HDB Neighbourhood area, I will definitely go back there again!
