Recently, I found myself trying out another new sushi chain, Nihon Mura Express which features the standard sushi conveyor belt and an almost completely electronic system of ordering just like Genki Sushi and Sakae Sushi.What I love about Nihon Mura Express is that it is perfect for people who hate math. Every plate is going at $1.50, so you will count the coloured plates towards the end and multiply it by $1.50. Do note that drinks are mandatory for each guest, you can choose from Green Tea, Iced Lemon Tea and Pepsi. No Coke available - an apology to members of Team Coca Cola. Most of the dishes were sufficient to satisfy the regular sushi cravings, but still an obvious notch lower in terms of freshness as compared to Itacho Sushi who makes your orders on the spot. I guess it's inevitable as the sushi has been traveling around the conveyor belt for some time. It's good for variety, as shown by the spread as demonstrated below, but not much of innovation of sushi to speak of. Pro tip: I would recommend you to order your sushi from the tablet because it tastes more fresh when prepared from the kitchen. Most of them costs $1.50 as well. The more memorable dishes include the Lobster handroll - which was surprisingly good because the seafood flavours were a real kick and the seaweed was easy to bite. I really enjoyed the Red Bean Mochi as well, which was soft and fluffy, it was like biting on a piece of cloud! It wasn't sticky at all. I am a egg lover. Their chawanmushi is smooth, cheap and tasty. Definitely a MUST orderEbi prawn is crispy, fresh and hot. The goyza is my all time favourite thereSalmon belly soup.. don't really like the salmon belly... and the soup taste ok only.grill scallop too salty.Their seafood shabu shabu is good. The seafood taste fresh and yummy. Strongly recommended.Their sushi is cheap, though the rice is quite hard..but I do love their fresh salmon! good!Seafood with pepper sauce! Love the salmon! Taste great!!

Hidden at the basement level of The Cathay, Nihon Mura provides a wide range of choices for hungry patrons to satisfied their taste buds. The sushi bar provides a over flowing plates of sushi and dishes from the menu and if you cant find what you want, you can also make ala carte order that is of affordable and attractive price range.Mussels with mentai with a tinge of lemon juice over it brings out the freshness of the mussels. A pity that the Mentai is not 'roasted' over the fire enough. Other wise would taste even better without the fishy taste.Classic sushi taste like the crabstick sushi or tuna sushi is also available to choose from.Innovative sushi such as roast duck sushi is one of my favourite. Meat is tender and not bland.Craving for some fried food? Tempura choices are also available. whether or not you are craving for some vegetable tempura or ebi fry, Nihon mura will satisfy your needs.Sashimi comes in thickness just right. Not too small or thin. Honestly speaking, for the price you are paying, the sashimi is already very worth the price. After all, you get what you are paying for.Overall, Nihon Mura is a place that is more affordable for even students or working adults who just want to satisfy their sushi craving yet not willing too pay too much for the food they are eating. A place value for money indeed.

This Curry Rice that I have ordered at Nihon Mura Izakaya is definitely not a disappointing one. The curry is hot but not very spicy, which is suitable for people who can't really take spicy food. The chicken is very crispy and it doesn't turned soggy that fast when it was mixed together with the rice and curry. The combination of rice, curry and chicken taste superb, I must say.Also, eating the chicken alone without mixing with the curry taste pretty good as well.

Nihon Mura is a well decorated place. Their wooden furniture and warm lighting makes the ambience really nice. Even their walls were decorated with Japanese characters. Walking in makes diners feel like they are really in a Japan.It makes me wonder why the restaurant had spent so much effort into decorating the place, but not training their staff to be more polite and welcoming. Unlike most other Japanese restaurant which greets us in Japanese once diners come into the restaurant, Nihon Mura staff seems to take diners for granted. Even though there were plenty of seats inside the restaurant and no other diners in queue, they took a long time to seat my friends and I. Note that we are a group of 8, so it’s pretty hard to miss us. And when we are to ask for help, it took us ages to get their attention because the staff all seemed to be hiding somewhere in the kitchen or at corners, deliberately away from our sight. When we sat down, the staff that served us was rude was well, looking as though she was going to rush off to other places. She was super impatient and had a black face on throughout the order. It made all of us panicky to hurry up our orders and spoiling our mood even before the meal ): We were super irritated by it because she was the one hiding from our order, and yet now rushing us to complete it. They way they slam down our utensils and glasses of water was extremely rude too.The food wasn’t terrific as well. It was quite pricey, so I would expect better quality food. They tasted bland and not well cooked. Perhaps their cooks were as impatient as their service staff, rushing off to somewhere else. I’m not sure if we have visited them on a bad day, or they were like this all along. Checking out other reviews online made me realized their service have been persisting like this for quite some time already.
