Had their special way in preparing Curry Fish Head, Iconic dish for Ocean Restaurant, we purposely came here for our lunch in order to try it out. Its taste quite similar with Indian style, it tasted tangy and packed a punch. Not too spicy or salty, I felt not greasy at all until my last scoop. Fragrance of coconut milk was strong, and I prefer to have the fish along with broth. Alternatively, it had non-claypot version. Generously given for Fish and Veggies, it was $15.00 for 2 persons serving.

Served piping hot with a generous serving ingredients, I am salivating just at the thought of it now.

Spiciness at a really comfortable level which gives you a good kick but also allows you so slurp up mouthful after mouthful of thick curry gravy without glurping down your drinks to cool your tastebuds down. It is also sour enough to enhance the flavour of their entire dish. This my friend, is so damn freaking good!

Another side dish that my family have as a “must” order is this squid dish which comes in a unque thick dark sauce. You can give it a go to know what I am talking about it!

There are other dishes that you can try out too but these are my top 2 recommendations.
Hope you like it!

I spent a total of 15.20 for 4 dishes plus 2 plate of rice, there quite a variety of food, but guess it does depend on days since my mother was saying that today there wasn't much to choose compare to other days my parents come to visit. The otah dish is quite nice and heard from my dad that is the famous dish from this store.Plus I do like the sotong dish especially, it really yummy and taste really nicer compare to other places (:

I settled my lunch with Economy Rice. There was a famous stall selling Economy Rice nearby our office. The environment was still acceptable, temperature a bit hot while the queue length was considered reasonable.Pork chop is crispy; Egg is soft and silky, Tofu with minced meat toppings and light sauce, steaming hot rice coated with curry gravy. It costed me $3.00 for the meal. So what else to ask for, except a simple home-cooked food?

The FoodI ordered a plate of rice with curry vegetables, curry chicken and fried omelette. Richly scented with a distinctive lemon grass fragrance, the curry gravy is spicy and savory and was satisfied with the fried omelette which came with fresh shrimps. The curry chicken is tender and the coconut milk used in the gravy also rich and concentrated. As for the rice, the texture is cooked perfect- not too hard or soft. The PriceReasonably priced at $3.30 per plateOverallI will definitely come back

The fish head curry was served in a big claypot. What was surprising was that the curry reached us still bubbling hot, something that I had not experienced before with other fish head curries. And that aroma was just so appetizing! The dish tasted as good as it smelt, the milky consistency of the curry complementing the tender fish meat nicely.

To complete the meal, the stall offers a range of other cooked food as well - we ordered a fish otah and a side of vegetables.

As per what my title mention, boiling hot is the term to describe the curry fish head when its served. Claypot style is the stall's cooking method, with the curry gravy still bubbling and boiling when its served to the table. This cause the aroma of the curry to quickly impress the diner with its aroma and smell. Fish Head is used and i think its good grade ang ko li fishhead. Claypot style is the stall's cooking method, with the curry gravy still bubbling and boiling when its served to the table. This cause the aroma of the curry to quickly impress the diner with its aroma and smell. Fish Head is used and i think its good grade ang ko li fishhead. You will not find pathetic fish meat like some other places, instead, you will be pleased with the meat servings provided. My only gripe is the dish only comes with lady finger and pineapple. I'm missing my usual tau pok, tau kee and also tomato. The curry gravy is a little to the sour side, heavily enhanced with the pineapple that its cooked with. Also its more to the spicier side for the chilli/hot scale, so be prepared to sweat a liitle
Other than this fishhead shared by 4 pax and costing $25, we also ordered some of their popular side dishes (they happen to be a economical rice stall as well) like amaranth (苋菜 $3) and otah ($6). i must say our 2 side dishes are wise choices and it went well with the overall curry based meal. Also they do not serve the red cut chilli by default but chilli sauce and soy sauce separately. But we did not touch the condiments much as the curry gravy is flavorful enough. Coffeeshop setting with reasonable pricing i would say. Service was damn fast and food was served merely minutes after ordering. Carpark is available just behind the coffeeshop itself but it would even be better if its the gantry type, hate tearing coupons.
