This is the first time I went to Old Hong Kong Legend at Raffles City Shopping Centre. Not easy to find this restaurant because it is at the corner of the shopping mall. This is the first time I tried the HK style fried crab - 避风塘炒蟹. Good, spicy and fresh. I definately will come back again because of the soup and 避风塘 dishes. The manger told me they have afternoon set - milk tea and French toast. Cannot believe the restaurant sell HK cafe tea set. Old Hong Kong Legend opens even the first day of Chinese New Year! How to believe they are so HK style---work hard and good quality of food!

Dim Sum is one of those comfort foods that I really enjoy eating, but sadly my experience at Old Hong Kong Legend wasn't a very good one. The only interesting dish that was good is this deep-fried prawn ball which had a nice springy texture to it. The meat they used in the Char Siew Pau is not the high quality char siew you would expect to find at a Chinese restaurant, but tasted more like those you get for $1 at a kopitiam. I was with my family and we decided to get some food from Old Hong Kong Legend, since it's conveniently located at Raffles City. The Yi Pin Guo was very good, consisting of sea cucumber, broccoli, scallops and abalone; portion was generous as well, and the food well braised. I also liked the noodles with prawn, as the gravy was flavourful and the prawns big and fresh. The stir-fried pork with ginger and leek was average.

Interesting combination served piping hot are the baked avocado seafood puff. Within this sweet Chinese pastry are combination of generous pieces of avocado, vegetables and crab sticks. The amount of egg added to the puff gives a rich brown top and good flavour together with the generous amount of toasted sesame seed on top of each flaky puff. These bite sized puff goes well with a cup of hot Chinese tea.

Love the buttery texture of the skin and the moist char siew filling! Simply bliss with every mouthful i take.

This place may not have the best dim sum but for the convenient location (ok parking + it's linked to the mrt too, i don't mind coming back again.

Old Hong Kong Legend is one of my favourite restaurant for dim sum! Their food are delicious, definitely well-presented and looks very appetizing. We started of with a bowl of Double-boiled shark's bone cartilage soup ($18 per person). The soup is very rich in collagen, the flavour is so good that I'm totally in love with it. It's served in whole 'shark's fin' melon that gives extra sweetness to the soup. One could also taste the yellow fungus and wolfberry in the soup. Overall speaking, two thu

Beancurd skin (2pcs) ($4.50) dim sum is always my favourite. This one here wrapped a handful of filling including steamed chicken, fish maw and mushrooms. Very well-seasoned and one would love how the ingredients come together so harmonily!

Seafood dumplings (2 pcs) ($6.80) is quite like Siu Mai, except for the fact that it has a big fresh prawn as well as fish roe on top. Very crunchy texture, nice.

Deep-fried dace fish valls (3 pcs) ($5.50) is something new to me. The taste is easily accepted, in fact, one will love it straightaway even if he/she not a big fans of fish. Because this is deep-fried, it doesn't have the fishy taste, but aromatic delicious. The chives did add on extra fragrant to it.

Steamed crystal dumplings with potherb mustard ($4.50) is probably my least favourite, not something I tried before. The filling tastes a bit like preserved vegetables.

Pan-fried flour rolls with X.O. chilli sauce ($5.50) is different from the steamed rice rolls that most restaurant serves. The rice rolls are first pan-fried to crisp, and then topped with the homemade XO chilli sauce. The fragrant of shrimp is strong and yummy.

Seared cod fish on egg white with trufle sauce ($14.80 per person) has won the best of the culinary awards for the restaurant, and of course it's highly recommended. The cod fish is so well-marinated, cooked at the perfect timing, maintaining the juiciness and fats in the flesh! The bottom layer is the egg white with trufle sauce. The rich flavours just burst in your mouth, delighting the palate pleasantly! It's a must try for sure!

Aloe vera with refreshing calamansi juice ($6.80) is a perfect dessert to end the meal. The sourness of the calamansi juice is very refreshing, and the aloe vera just gives it an extra chewy texture. Great combination!

Upon seated, pickles (80 cents/person) will be served on the table. The dried tofu pickles is plain but nice to bite on.This appetizer was having promotion at that time and only costs $9.8/set (usual price $13.8). The trio appetizer consists of the 10-head abalone marinated with Chinese wine, the Vinaigrette black fungus, as well as the Marinated jelly fish with spicy sauce. The cold dish is such a pleasant start of the meal in the hot afternoon. Steamed stuffed eggplant, beancurd, bell pepper (

Steamed stuffed eggplant, beancurd, bell pepper ($8.8) is served in the flavourful black bean sauce, the fish paste stuffing has a very good texture too. Yummy!

Baked lobster noodles ($13.8) doesn't have a 'wow' presentation, yet the taste is absolutely gorgeous. The noodles braised in the lobster sauce for long, absorbed the flavourful seafood gravy, yet retain the chewy texture.

The braised Nine kinds of dried seafood, meat and vegetables ($28) is another delicious must-try dishes. The gravy is so rich in flavour, good to go with white rice. The pork is braised till very tender, and all the ingredients are well-absorbed the aromatic gravy. Thumbs up!

We also ordered the Bowl rice with mushroom, chinese sausages and chicken ($8.8), which is pretty ordinary. Though the chicken pieces are tender, I think the sauce for the rice is simply too plain.

Barbecued pork bun ($5.5) was just freshly baked. The crispiness of the pastries and the generous amount of the filling, make it an awesome dish!

Dim sum isn’t my type of food, if I have a choice, I hardly choose dim sum. A friend of mine invited me for this dim sum for afternoon tea, prices are 20% less on all items on weekdays. I have an impression of this restaurant is target for high market, hence, shark fin, birds nest, abalone etc kind of food. Their decoration was nice and seating was spacious. We reached there at 2:30pm, the lunch crowd just left and we could enjoy a peaceful moment for our afternoon tea. This was my first visi

We reached there at 2:30pm, the lunch crowd just left and we could enjoy a peaceful moment for our afternoon tea. This was my first visit, a waitress came to ask for our tea selection, we didn’t sure of what to order and asked her some questions, she showed her impatient straightaway! Another waitress came to ask for food order, my friend named a few, the waitress kept asking for more….I stopped my friend for further order as the food would be cold before we could finish them all. It seems all waitresses are in a hurry!

Anyway, we have ordered mini egg tart, Cantonese carrot cake, siew mai, all tasted fresh of the day and nice to taste, no msg aftertaste. Then we ordered some more food, this time it was a waiter, he was patient and recommended yee mian instead of yellow noodle for us, as it is less oily. We added a chicken roll with fish maw雞扎, taste was really good.

Overall taste was really good and fresh, prices after discount were acceptable.

I used the discount coupon to eat at this restaurant. The menu picture looks so great on the food. So we get to order some promotion items. Shark fin is one of the food that we ordered in the promotion. I ordered a tea with a teapot. The tea taste good and the teapot looks nice. The food menu at Raffles City and Serangoon Garden Village seems like a bit different. I still prefer to eat at Serangoon Garden Village, as not so crowded and the food suits me.

And so, I went to their newest branch at Raffles City Shopping Center. It was during lunch time so there weren't many people dining. It was good for me and my friend since we didnt have to wait long to be entertained.

I then ordered the Michelin menu they have. It was a bit expensive, yes, but anyway the menu consisted of six dishes. If you think about it, it was a good deal already. As for the food, I liked that the taste was subtle. It wasn't too overwhelming to the palate. I enjoyed the Bird's nest soup because it was very fulfilling. Each spoonful was just enjoyable because it was so thick and it was filled with egg bits!

The appetizer of Abalone, Kalimeris, and Bean curd also deserves a mention because it was cooked just right. The abalone was very meaty and juicy. It was balanced by the Kalimeris which was very light when you bite on it. Its dryness was then complemented by the juicy beancurd with tofu. For me, it was the perfect ensemble.

The fried noodles were also tasty, but it was just too oily and there were just a few vegetables. I would have preferred it with more veggies!
But overall, the michelin menu is worth trying!
