Adopted from my blog : http://cennds.blogspot.com

Reaching the place at the good timing with lesser crowd and no queue yet.
We were assisted by their staff to the seat and start ordering dishes thru Ipad.
Different type of sauces are displayed in the middle of aisle bar.
All cutleries are kept in your table drawer .

What to eat :

To satisfy palate of Bak Kut Teh, dough fritter should not be missed out, hence Bak Kut Teh and dough fritter are must to order. Conversely with my friend, i would prefer Noodle - Mee Sua instead of rice.

While went through the menu, we saw the SET menu consists of rice, pork ribs soup, dough fritters, and bean curd for $11 which is cheaper and more worth it instead of ordering per dishes. Without hesitate, we chose SET menu that mainly consists of food we were going to have.

Pork Ribs Soup

Simple yet mouth watering soup of the spices ingredients.
The soup is free flow with no extra cost which assisted by their staff adding to your bowl.

Dough Fritters

You tiao is the must to have while eating Bak Kut Teh. The best to eat the Freshly hand made dough fritters is by dipping it into the soup. The skin is crispy and not much oil was founded.

Bean Curd

Set meal of Bak Kut teh included the  hand made bean curd was just mediocre.
Soft enough but it was not smooth enough yet of its curd.

Our verdict, there was no oolong Chinese tea to go along with the fat-laden Bak Kut Teh, however, it was still much a fulfilling meal of the day. Go for the set menu for best economic deal of $11 and $15, the difference is the choice of normal Bak Kut Teh or Premium Loin Ribs. However, it may be a bit pricey.

For 3 people, we ordered two bowls of rice, the signature bak ku teh pork ribs, one bowl of pig trotters, vegetables. We also ordered the you tiao with beancurd since it comes in the set and it seems to be one of their signature dishes.

The you tiao and beancurd came first. The you tiao tasted not bad, served warm and quite fragrant too. The traditional beancurd was soft and silky.

For the dishes, they tasted average. The pork ribs and pig trotters were quite soft but the portion was quite small though ):

Overall, it is a good experience but not worth it to spend $35 just for the meal.

Sauce counter is located in the middle of the dining area and diners can help themselves with black sauce, chilli, oil and even sesame sauce.
We were rather lost when we stepped into the shop and none attended to us. Our blur faces and actions were caught by one of the helpers and she came approaching us and asked if it was our first time in the shop.
We were somehow amazed when we drew opened the drawer and found an ipad as the menu. In fact, all of the tables were equipped with this electronic menu and of course securely tied to the tables. Menu was comprehensive with types of categories from food, sides to desserts. What's more, there is a promotion section where diners can check out the latest promotions by Old Street.

The Pig's Stomach was thinly sliced into pieces and served with the white Bak Kut Teh Soup. Each piece was thoroughly clean without having any trace of the original pigs' smell.

The soup were tasty without much peppery taste and with the prompt service, helpers will walk around the restaurant helping diners in refilling the soup.
Meat of pork ribs were rather defined. The layers of fats and meat were visibly seen from the eyes and these ribs went very well with the dark soy sauce and cut chillis.

You Tiao were cut and served in the basket. They were also part of the main reason why our bowls of Bak Kut Teh "dried up" so easily.

Dry Bak Kut Teh? I have never even heard of it till I saw that on their menu. Served traditionally with dark soya coated Bak Kut mixed with ladies fingers in earthen claypot. Presentation was a bit dull but overall, the taste is still not bad, at least I find it quite special.

Having Dou Hua after Bak Kut Teh made me feel rather funny. However, I will say that this dessert was definitely the traditional Dou Hua and not any other kind of pudding. It was smooth and delicate, a gentle scoop would have them torn apart. The sugar syrup added was not too sweet and perfect compliment to such plain bowl of dessert.

Well, its glad to know that we have one specialized restaurant selling Bak Kut Teh in the Mall. For those who enjoy BKT, it will be a good place to dine in the West.

Despite the nostalgic notion of the restaurant name, I was pleasantly surprised at the technology which are found in this Bak Kut Teh place.Firstly, there are two induction cooker plates installed under the table so one can continue heating up the soup. Seatings here are all spacious. Service here is quick, the staff are approachable and attentive. I didn't have to wait for too long to get soup topped up.

Ordered a small Dry Bak Kut Teh ($9.10) which is one of the recommended dish. It is the first time I heard of a dry version, I guess it is one of their innovative creation. It was served in a clay pot and actually I think it was more like a Claypot Pork Ribs. The dark-coloured sauce was nothing distinctly-flavoured. It came with some Okra but didn't have the slimy texture. Overall, the dish was nothing extraordinary, I would have preferred to spend it on the normal soup version of Bak Kut Teh.

A big bowl of Pork Ribs soup costs $10.40. The portion of pork ribs was generous enough for me and my friend. The meat was tender while the soup was full of flavour. It was not too peppery, unlike how overwhelmingly peppery the soup is in some other places

In addition, I was very happy to see the various sauces displayed at the counter in the center. I like the one with the minced soybean indeed to complement the meat.

For side dishes, I ordered Tang O (a type of uncommon vegetables) and a bowl of 梅菜. The portion of Tang O ($7.80) was really small since it is usually quite more expensive as compared to other more common types of veggie. The 梅菜 was appetizing and tasted not too salty.

In conclusion, I am more than satisfied with the food here. I might be slightly biased haha as I really like the minced Soybean sauce. I would surely return to the place since it is conveniently located near my house. But hmm maybe would give the Dry Bak Kut Teh a miss ><
