Signature Dishes
You straightaway know what you must try when you are here. The white coffee for sure! For those who do not that coffee, there are other drinks available for you to choose from. The nasi rendang here is famous too but we did not want to have such heavy meal in the morning so decided to go for the lighter version. We ordered the breakfast set which comes with a drink.Kaya Toast + Boiled Eggs Set($5.50++) - the usual breakfast set that I will be ordering. The toast were good and so as the coffee.Char Siew Noodles Set($8.50++) - pass for the noodles and failed for the char siew. The reason why the char siew failed because it tasted too porky which I don't like it. My friend who is not that particular as me feel the char siew is quite good, better than some other place.http://rainfooddiary.blogspot.sg/2013/08/old-town-coffee-shop.html

I have been to Malaysia few times myself, and am crazy over their Nasi Rendang Chicken, so I take it a try at Singapore, it comes with a piece of chicken with the thick Rendang gravy over the chicken, crackers, sambal chilli and slices of cucumber. The look of it will make you drool and the after taste will still lingers in your mind. Prawn noodles was really good, doused with thick and fragrant gravy. We tried their Kaya Toast Double and it's not bad either. Overall a nice dining location.

The service of the waitress was reasonable. She smiled and greeted us when we ordered the food and paid the bill. But there was a point that I could not stand, and that was she keep turning the sign to the side that says "sorry we are closed" instead of "please wait to be seated". The time that I went was only 9pm, and it was stated clearly that the last order is at 10pm on the wall behind. Potential customers who did not notice the wall behind would be lost. I only ordered a bowl of chendol from them, and I was deeply disappointed. The picture on the banner looks so appealing! But the one that was served is everything but that. The serving is so small, and 90% is just ice. There's not much ingredients. And though it seems they put in lots of coconut milk, it isn't fragment at all. I could get it at kopitiam for a much cheaper price and better taste.

FoodJust after our lunch we decide to find another place for chit chat sessions. My friend was quite interested in the kaya and butter bread and ordered this as it is brown in color. its crunchiness and cripiness has been popular among the bread lovers. Costs : $2.30Ordered is chendol with gula melaka which is their recommended dish.I think it is new as it is out of the menu. It costs $2.90. Personally, we think that the ice are too coarse, not like the usual ice kachang we have. It just too crunchy for us. I would prefer the ice from their ice blended drinks. Its softer. Everything tastes very different from the usual kind of chendol. It does have nata de coco, corns in milk, red beans and red bean paste, glass jelly as well as green jelly with some gula melaka over the ice mountain. ServiceService is quite slow. we have to wait about 30 minutes for the chendol to be seen on our tables.AmbienceAs usual, old town white coffee has gained its reputation over the years. The place is good for gathering or relaxing place for a hot weekends. It is packed as it is.PricePrice is alright.Recommendations / TipsTry its bread.

I had one of my dinners at Old Town, Jcube cause they have lotsa local delights and choices as well. Decided to order the curry chicken rice as the table opposite was having it and so I was craving for it too. The curry chicken was decent. Not too spicy, it was fragrant and delicious. I like how the cracker came with it and I finished every bit of it. Order their coffee too. How can you be in Old Town and not have their coffee? I order their old town cold hazel nut coffee, my all-time coffee indulgence at Old Town. My other favourites are the Chicken Soup Hor Fan and the breakfast was good too. They have all day breakfast cause you can have that any time.
