Grilled Truffle Cheese Sandwich ($14)
Grilled buttery brioche bread stuffed with truffle cheese, emmental cheese and oak-smoked cheddar, served with tomato cheddar soup.
The truffle oil smell was a tab light. The cheesy crispy sandwich was delicious when dipped with the tangy tomato soup. I wished that the soup could be served smoky hot. It was just warm.

Smoked Salmon Rosti ($16)
Crispy potato rosti topped wti h smoked salmon, capers, creme frachie and fresh onions.
The rosti was not quite what I was expected. I suspected it was machined shredded as the potato was long and thin, making it dry without the mushy potato texture. It made one felt like having potato noodles. The creme frachie was light which balanced the salty smoked salmon, although I preferred the strong flavoured sour cream to go with it.

There is a free regular coffee promotion with every order of weekend brunch items. Since I ordered 2 brunch items, I had as Cappuccino ($5.50) and Latte ($5.50) as the free drinks. Could not taste the different between the both drinks as both are quite milky.

We went to Oriole Cafe & Bar because of the 1-for-1 Entertainer deals hehe! Original price was $60 but we paid $30!! So worth it.Baked seafood pasta. The tomato's sauce was good but the seafood tasted like the frozen kind. The sauce was not overly rich and had a more watery texture.Crabmeat aglio olio. This was good too and wasn't very oily. There were lots of garlic in it which enhanced the taste of the aglio olio. The crabmeat was kinda hard unfortunately.

The breakfast menu was limited but there was the usual smoked salmon and English breakfast. I chose the Hot Smoked Salmon ($19) since I was always a fan of smoked salmon. The Hot Smoked Salmon came with oak smoked salmon, poached eggs, spinach, hollandaise sauce and English muffins. Also ordered a orange juice to wash the meal down.

I liked the poached eggs but that was the only thing I truly fancied in my Hot Smoked Salmon. I was quite surprised that the smoked salmon came as shreds of fully cooked salmon. I expected salmon which was cured and smoked instead of fully cooked salmon. The spinach was really salty which took me by surprise. The greens were fresh but nothing too special.

I will come by Oriole Cafe for brunch again if I want somewhere in town which is less crowded. But I will not visit Oriole Cafe for my smoked salmon fix. There are many other cafes serving better smoked salmon and poached egg.

Located along the beautifully-lit discovery walk between Somerset 313 and Pan Pacific Serviced Suites are a row of restaurants and cafes. They always look so good especially at night, when illuminated by the tiny blue lights twinkling high above (in trees).

We decided to give Oriole Cafe & Bar a try as it was empty that evening, and a male buddy recommended this place for its good coffee.

The first dish we ordered was the Chicken Casserole, a piping hot dish that looked rather simple served in a shallow ceramic pan - chunks of chicken, capsicum, chorizo, tomato and toast baguette in tomato-paprika sauce. Casseroles are known to be very homely comfort food whereby one just tosses all sorts of ingredients found in the fridge and let it cook in the ovens. This was certainly comfort food, but a tasty one - tender chicken chunks amongst crunchy capsicum bits and chewy chorizo dices. The tomato-paprika sauce was thick and nicely-flavored, a perfect soak over the ingredients and the perfect dip for the hard-crusted bread slices.

Then we had the Scallops Risotto - uniquely flavorful blends of large scallops, gentle sweetness of pumpkin bits, the stronger tinge of blue cheese (Gorgonzola) toned down by the herb-ish aroma of Balsamic glaze. Tender, chewy scallops charred to a smokey deliciousness cooked perfectly in chewy arborio rice, what more could we ask for? The slight play at food art was unneessary, because the colors of the tiny veggie bits had already piqued our appetites. Being an all-time risotto lover, this dish stole my heart easily too.

We were recommended by our friend to try the St. Louis Pork Ribs here. It was said to resemble the pork ribs from the famous Naughty Nuri's Warung in Bali, Indonesia. I didn't know that this place is actually famous for their coffee. Apparently the owner, Keith Ong, was awarded the best barista in the Singapore National Barista Championships 2010. The coffee I ordered here was chilli chocolate mocha, it is one of their competition coffee. I like how they blend the strong and bold ristretto with fresh chilli juice. There is only one word to describe it - shiok!

Instead of the usual run of the mill coffees at those chain coffee places, this place brings coffee tasting to a higher notch at the same prices. so try this instead next time you're in town for some coffee

I ordered the chili chocolate mocha ($6) one of the 2 competition coffee! I don't really know how to taste what's a good coffee or what's not, but this cup of coffee left me in awe. Served with a cinnamon stick, the cinnamon taste was divine when mixed together with the hint of spiciness in the coffee, and blended well with the chocolatey taste. The best coffee I've ever drank.

I'll be back for more food and coffee! Do try it out! I spent a total of $32 inclusive of GST and service charge!

Had a photoshoot with the friends and we decided to chill at this cafe as it's a very hot day and everywhere else is crowded on a weekend. The cafe was very dark inside, the lights is not much help. I ordered my usual homemade vanilla latte and a honey affrogato. The coffee in the affrogato is much better here as its less acidic and its smoother. However, the vanilla ice cream is not as good as another place. Love the honey crumble bits in it.

I only ate 1.5 out of the 4 pieces; it's really a waste, but I just couldn't finish it up.
The sauce didn't taste good too.

But, I must say the atmosphere there was great for meetups with friends!
Enjoyed my dining experience, and the drink, although my food was disappointing.
I'll be back to try more varieties

Now its time for some high classiness food in singapore! Oriole Cafe & Bar was recommended by Ladyironchef, reading the blog review wasn't enough for me. I had to go down personally to rate them!

To start off, i was overwhelm by the ambience the moment i stepped into the restuarant. The soft lighting makes the environment really cozy, tables were not placed too closed to each other. Furnishing are great, all these with soothing music generates a really relaxing environment for the diners. Big thumbs up to them on this.

I ordered the strawberry cheesecake and mocha. The mouth-watering cheesecake is soft, smooth, sweet, so many ways to describe. The bottom crust added to the overall texture complementing the top.

The highlight for this review will go to the mocha. Oriole Café & Bar is renowned for their coffee, so i can't miss this. I'm definitely not good at appreciating coffee at professional standards, but this mocha is really good. The aroma it gives off makes me yearn to get one more cup, the sweetness hit right on the stop. No extra sugar has to be added. The coffee art is also worthy of an appraisal too.

Total cost was S$17.05. Expensive? No. Its totally worth the price.

I have always wanted to go Oriole Cafe & Bar after reading the many raves of this cafe online. It is conveniently located just outside 313 Somerset! They are having this set lunch promotion from $16 onwards, from Monday to Friday. The set lunch promo gave us a choice of starter(soup or salad) and main with a complimentary beverage. Very worth it! As I wanted to try the Tagliatelle Beef Cheek which was not included in the set lunch, we decided to order 1 main, 1 set lunch and an additional drink.

The cafe has both alfresco and indoor seating, and the indoor seating has a bar top counter overlooking the main pathway so one can people watch. The lighting isn't too dim nor is it excessively bright so its really comfortable to chill.

We ordered Chicken Quesadillas, Bangers & Mash (both $18 each) as well as a Caffe Latte ($5.50).

The Chicken Quesadilla was complemented with potato wedges, salsa and a lovely salad (with balsamic vinegar dressing). The quesadilla was delicious -not too salty, and the cheese was still stringy. The grilled chicken had enough flavour and the the pocket was lightly toasted -delicious! My dining companion preferred it slightly more seasoned though, but in my opinion it wasnt overly salty. The wedges were crisp on the outside, yet the potato was so fluffy and soft. Eaten with the salsa, which had bits of diced tomatoes and onions, the taste was absolutely perfect! The salsa wasn't overly sour, great for those who are adverse to super-tangy sauces.

The Bangers & Mash were slightly more disappointing. While the pork sausages had a delicious herb-y fragrance, its flavour fell a bit flat. I exceptionally liked the mash and gravy, which went deliciously together (I COULD HAVE IT ALONE!). The mash was slightly sweet on its own, and its oh-so-fluffy texture wasn't overly whipped such that it had lost its original potato texture. I also liked the onion gravy -it wasn't too thick and starchy and had a pleasant savouriness. I wish there was more gravy though!

ps. another grouse -my dining companion also felt that 3 sausages instead of 2 would have given him a better run for his money!

This Latte is honestly one of the best lattes I've ever drunk!! The milk is steamed to perfection and the coffee goes down wonderfully smoothly. You can add your own sugar and customise the sweetness and i find that 1.5 sugars work perfectly for me. This small cup is really worth $5.50 -the taste is just gorgeous. Not too bitter nor acidic and the temperature + flavours all harmonised

Oriole also has standard happy hours for drinks, as well as tea time promos such as waffles + ice cream & tea for $12-13. The service is earnest and the food is delicious too -will definitely be back. If you're here for desserts, we recommend the peanut butter crumble -its the ultimate sin in a cup!! Sticky date pudding is strong on the rum so if you're adverse to alcohol, steer clear of their rendition of this dish!

The coffee is surprisingly, stellar. Go for their latte, and anything with steamed milk. I promise you won't regret it.
