But after the refills which were free, the peppery taste kind of got to me. :/
And I actually ate all the meat by myself, the meat was tender and salty, it absorbed the soup taste... MMMM.
Love the salted vegetables and youtiao too! ^^
I thought the meesua was a little bland, would definitely order rice instead of meesua next time!

 Liver / Kidney Soup, the kidney was so soft that one bite you have it melt onto your tongue but... I do not like the urea smell within the piece kidney that was cut proportionally into square patterns on it. Liver was thinly sliced and tastes great, best part is that it doesn't stinks as much as the kidney.

 Spare Ribs Soup, before commenting on the standard of BKT, we started with tasting the soup as we believe the essence are in there. Like any "white" bak kut teh, most of their soup are peppery. I must admit I will prefer the "black" hokkien version instead of the "white" cantonese version.
Soup was filled only to one quarter of the bowl with 2 miserable pieces of spare ribs. The portion we received were not very lean and quite fatty.

Our late dinner for the night. A guy will be walking around to refill the soup. It was hard to grab attention of the service ladies though, we were waving for quite sometimes before she comes to us. Outram Park Ya Hua Rou Gu Cha occupied has alot of seatings and those with blue table tops are for smoking zones.

I love peppery bak kut teh soup but this was really too peppery for my liking, almost like those powdered packet bak kut teh where you can simply find in supermarkets.  My bowl of Bak Kut Teh (Lean Meat). The bowl was rather small but you can ask for free refill of the soup. I felt that the soup was peppery hot but quite salty. However, it was good that we didn't feel thirsty after gulping 2 bowls of soup.

The Food

The salted vegetables are not overly saltish and goes very well with the rice.

The Service
Service was prompt, and rather smooth as I went on weekdays hence not so crowded.

The Ambience
I like the quiet ambience and surroundings which made me feel relaxed and comfortable.

The Price
Reasonably-priced at $6 for the spare ribs soup, $2 for the salted vegetables and $1.50 for the youtiao for the excellent quality.

Overall
I will definitely come back again and highly recommended to try this!

Here's the receipt/price list for all those who wanna know how much the different chunks of meat cost, because you cannot get the price on the menu. Isn't it strange? They only have pictures and words in the menu but no price. It made my family quite embarrassed to ask how much each dish cost, so we decided to order blindly and simply enjoy our midnight supper.  We ordered a bowl of pig's trotter, which cost $6.00 for just a few chunks of delicious meat. When you bite them through with your teeth, the sauce spurts out in your mouth and there is no sign of foul smell. The tender meat do get stuck in-between your teeth though, but you would surely forget your dining etiquette when you come dine in with such delicious pig trotters!
Remember to bring your toothpick because they don't provide any like that. Oh yes, they have a box of free tissue as well so it's very taiwan-style, and being a person who loves to use a lot of tissue, I really made sure that I used a good portion of them!

 I have no idea which is the spare ribs soup and the pork ribs soup. The spare ribs cost $1 more than the pork ribs, but both taste as scrumptious. I wish the waitress would introduce us the dishes though, but the sad thing is that there is no garlic in the bak kut teh. We love garlic! The spare ribs soup ($7.00) had more meat than the pork ribs soup ($6.00), i guess that's the difference in pricing. One in particular had tougher meat while the other had more fats. If you could identify which is which, please do leave a comment below!

 I was very extremely pleased with the service there, because my family (of 3) had only ordered 2 bak kut teh and 2 rice, but they automatically gave us an extra bowl of soup and an empty bowl without charge. They were quick to refill our bowls and came quickly everytime we asked for their service! I guess it's because the shop was quite empty at the point of time (we went about 1a.m).

 I simply love their dough fritters there, it's so much better and tastier compared to their branch at Old Havelock Road. It soaks up the soup of the bak kut teh (Rou Gu Cha) much easier and there is a spongy feeling as you chew on these dough fritters. It cost only $2 for a large plate of dough sticks, enough to fill 3 people.

 This plate of salted vegetables ($3) may not look appetizing, but we all gobbled down in a second! With a mixture of crunchiness and sogginess, it goes well with the rice and is a perfect combination if you add in a bit of pork. I think it is really worth it considering for having it at only $3, but sadly there's only one clove of garlic, which our family had to share amongst the three of us.

 The portion of rice was quite huge, we were quite filled or maybe it's because we are eating it late at night. Each bowl of rice costs $0.50 and they're the average normal rice you get outside, and I felt they could improve the texture of it to be similar of that from Taiwan's, so that it can go well with the bak kut teh soup.

 We were told to pay when the food arrived, but because of the little people we had that day, they only collected payment from us after we've finished eating. I really enjoyed myself there and there were a lot of loyal customers going back, and I saw for myself how the waitress actually memorized the common orders from customers who frequented their shop! I was impressed and would definitely visit this place again someday.

This joint serves up Teochew style Bak Kut Teh which is similar to that of Founder's. The soup is clear, tasty and peppery and goes down best with a pot of concentrated Chinese tea. However, I found the meat a little too dry and tough, not as tender as I would have liked it to be. The side of intestines tasted rather normal to me. Although Ya Hua's BKT is slightly cheaper, I still prefer Founder's rendition because of the discernible tenderness of the meat and hey! 50 cents more isn't alot to pay for bigger servings and better meat.

The tender pork ribs are served in a nicely balanced soup ($7 a bowl) with a peppery kick that you may happily indulge in with a bowl of you tiao. We were surprised to see the pork ribs were served in either lean or fatty which you needed to indicate your preference for while placing the order. If rice didn't suit your fancy, you can choose to have a bowl of mee sua instead.

While the menu isn't very extensive, you get braised pig trotters, salted vegetables and dried beancurd (aka Tau pok) should you find the need to augment this already lovely meal.

I'm definitely happy about their opening hours.
