That aside, the restaurant is famous for its pasta! This bacon and ham carbonara pasta (SGD9.90) is quite small in portion, and I felt hungry even after finishing it. It comes with rich creamy sauce and a mouth-watering oily sheen. It was a treasure hunt for the bacon, but thankfully they were quite generous with their ham! The pasta was soft and evenly cooked throughout. We ordered this as an a la carte (a separate menu from the set menu).

I really love the set menu which grants a sharing portion between two people (friends, lovebirds, family) at an affordable price! The total set meal, which consists of a drink and a soup of the day, costs SGD26.80.

We ordered the iced lemon tea soft the drink and mind you, it was so refreshing that I really wanted to order another cup! It was not too sweet and the tea was strong in flavour.

This is how the food looked like when it came. We asked for an extra plate so as to share the portion. Don't belittle the look of a small portion, it was actually quite filling!

Cabonara Waraku Sauce
The carbonara waraku sauce pasta actually contained deep-fried bacon & poached egg yolk with Carbonara sauce. Here's a tip: if you don't like your yolk to be half-cooked, do inform the waitress of your preference! The pasta was a light creamy taste instead of the usual rich flavour, and the bacon wasn't too oily or fat.

The side dish was a fried tofu and potato salad (at the background). Anyway, don't be deceived by how it looks! Despite looking like the one you can buy from supermarket and cook yourself at home, the fried tofu was quite delicious! The potato salad, however, tasted a bit stale.

Salmon Steak with Teriyaki Sauce
moving on to the salmon steak, i thought the teriyaki sauce did a GREAT job masking the awful smell of the salmon. It is a truly decadent addition to the meal!

If you're looking to visit Pasta de waraku, here are some tips for you.
1. Don't be surprised if there isn't anyone serving you while you queue outside. Just walk in and sit yourselves as the waitresses, well, pretends to be busy in a restaurant with almost no customers.
2. Look out for food deals online from Pasta de Waraku. The restaurant usually upload great deals (e.g: Groupon) online!
3. Visit in the evening or when the sun sets. You are able to watch a beautiful view of the Singapore river!

I remember Waraku used to be the talk of the town when it first started out in Singapore.. starting the Japanese restaurant hype.

When I visited, the place was almost empty. Tables aplenty to choose from. Wait staff all fighting for your service.

Glad too that it was quiet, nice to have a quiet leisurely meal with a friend.

As the name suggests, don't expect anything other than pasta and more pasta. Every dish is accompanied with pasta.

So we have here the Mushroom Chicken Pasta and a Seafood Pasta.

The pasta was alright but the Seafood sauce mix proved too overwhelming - it was too salty. We had to wave the manager over to ask if the dish is usually this salty. "Yes" was the reply. Too bad then. We just had to finish it with no chance of an exchange.

Nothing to shout about about the Mushroom Chicken Pasta. Simple meal.

Rather pricey I must say, averaging S$15 per person.
Won't be back in the near future unless suggested or forced by others.

I am a big fan of cheesy dishes so with no surprise, I decided to try this cheesy seafood when I saw the menu here. Generous amount of melted cheese has been used in this dish which blend in really well with all the different types of seafood ingredients in it such as the crunchy prawns. The serving for per portion is also quite big and also the price is consider reasonable too.

i went for a school gathering to pasta de waraku. since it was a big group of us, we ordered different kinds of their pasta to share.they are very generous with their ingredients as well. i am very satisfied with their food. Pricing over there was typical casual dining cost. Average out to be $15.00++ per pax. Environment is nice since there were not much people around. Service waitress was pretty attentive.

squid ink pasta!carbonara!Carbonara has always been Waraku Pasta's signature dish and it sure lives up to its name! I loved the creamy white sauce that came with the pasta, and the spagetti was cooked to perfectiont- 'al dente!' tongueMost of their pastas came with and egg and so did mine. Once again, a very simple dish, consisting of a half cooked egg (where i always loved to take the pleasure of bursting the yolk) and bits of bacon with spagetti that boosts in taste.

The waiters/waitresses there are youngsters, and they are quite helpful.

Waraku is a popular joint, and there's no need to introduce on how good it is. But, I shall introduce the dish that most people would be skeptical and have cringe faces on: the black squid ink pasta!I was cringing my nose as well. Who would eat such pasta mixed with that poisonous (?) ink where squids use it to protect themselves and why should we eat such thing? But anyhow, I tried it. Bracing myself as the food gastronomist, any interesting stuff (except fried scorpions and other weird things)

I was cringing my nose as well. Who would eat such pasta mixed with that poisonous (?) ink where squids use it to protect themselves and why should we eat such thing?

But anyhow, I tried it. Bracing myself as the food gastronomist, any interesting stuff (except fried scorpions and other weird things) are a challenge!

And it came. The black black pasta topped with slight diced tomatoes, where i added lots of parmesan cheese, came.

As the menu said, it has tomato based sauce, so when I came to taste it - the squid ink really doesn't give any taste! It only gives a slight grease making the pasta's texture a bit sticky, and with the cheese, it's just a normal taste pasta!

Now it has grown on me and I somewhat like people looking at me eating this black pile of oodles doodles, hahaha! And it has became a certain favorite although taste is not so recommended. It's normal!

The portion of the pasta is quite small and the pasta sauce is abit thick which makes one feel very full after eating it though the pasta portion is not alot.Another highly over-rated pasta which is quite steep for the price paid. Just a very normal pasta though the variety of pasta is alot as displayed outside the restaurants to attract customers like us to eat it,only to find out it is just a so-so pasta at the end.
