The seafood from Penang Seafood Restaurant is huge, fresh and generous - they have lots of lala! Creamy textured hokkien mee is priced at $8 for two to share. Yummy from the first bite to the last! The broccoli was delicious with nicely charred garlic. The beer was reasonable price close to coffee shop for restaurant service. It was filling with beer. Each of us paid $12 in total. Value more than anything for wonderful cooking. I really believe the chef is from Penang and damn good.

Dishing out wide array of Penang Cuisines, Menu here was slightly unique and innovative version. The pricing of food was varied by its size basically, ranged around $5.00 to $10.00. To be frank, some of the dishes on Menu were not really popped out from Penang. We ordered Seafood Yimian, Fragrant Rice Vermicelli and signature Salted Egg Squids. Noodles came first, springy texture and soaked in savoury mushy gravy. Taste rather awesome, flavoursome for my liking. The other main dish we shared was Meehoon, crispy and fried freshly with a little burnt. Pour of starchy broth, it became chewy soft was very tasty. No need further explanation for squids, the platter was always the best. Buttery and full of salted egg aroma, delighting spiciness was perfectly matched with shinny crunchy battered flesh. Enjoyed the generous portion, affordable price was incredible factor to encourage our return.

Went there for dinner on 7 January 2014.

This is Penang food served tze char style. We ordered Salted egg chicken, Assam Laksa, Deep Fried Beancurd skin, one assam fish curry as recommended by the staff, Penang Char Kuay Teow, one plain rice. The total bill amounted to S$78.

The fish costs S$46 which is the most expensive item in our order but I must say it is one of freshest fish I ever tasted among all the tze char stall. Would suggest to check on the prices of the fish before ordering which we forgot haha
.

The Assam Laksa is signature dish. Very good and tasty. The gravy is thick with the right taste of spice, the prawn paste (hei guo) which they added is just the right amount to give it a sourish, spicy feel on the tongue.

The salted egg chicken sauce is very rich. Unfortunately, I did not really taste the salted egg but overall still very nicely done.

I love the Penang Char Kuay Teow. Really really good in my view. Must give it a try.

A good nice place for a family outing but can be quite expensive depending on what is being ordered.

Awesome zi char place that is very accessible (just outside Aljunied mrt) and yummy. Best to go in a group so you can order a variety of dishes to try. Its assam laksa/assam curry fish head is probably the star item there as many tables were seen ordering it. Really love the assam fish head, aromatic and tantalizing kick to the taste buds, fish itself was good as well. Salted egg calamari was good as well, you cannot go wrong with salted egg anything. Would return again!

Was here before for the zi char and now i am back with my friend for the penang laska!to be honest, this is my first time trying penang laska. and i actually like the normal laksa better. the penang laska has this very strong lime taste in it which i do not really like it. Nevertheless, the soup is very flavorful still. It is worth trying for the first time as it only cost $4.50 We also ordered cereal chicken and it is damn good!!!I highly recommend this. one of the best cereal chicken i had in

We also ordered cereal chicken and it is damn good!!!I highly recommend this. one of the best cereal chicken i had in singapore. The curry gravy below makes it so tasty!!! really love it. And this cost $12 which i find it abit pricey.

Overall, i will definitely come back here for the zichar! but not so much for the penang laksa.

No occasion, nothing special for the day, but our orders for today was sumptuous. Having our dinner, I and my boyfriend came to this restaurant. Can you imagine such portion was only for two of us?! It was exaggerated. Anyway, the thin Hor Fun tasted not bad, I wouldn’t say it was fantastic. No much seafood or other luxury ingredient inside, it was decently flavourful. Golden-yellow in colour, they were perfectly fresh. Nice Shrimps with buttery gravy, it was very fattening but heavenly great taste. Salted egg did its part precisely, aroma filled up each shrimp. This was bigger version, because I like prawns very much. Slightly expensive, it costed $18.00.

Deep-fried until very crispy, the pork at the first place was well-marinated. Not too dry or oily, the boneless pork was tender and stretchable. Taste wise, it was overall good. It priced at $12.00.
The visit was satisfied and pleasant, we will consider go back again.

I'm not a fan of seafood with shells, but I must say their Sambal Lala is nice, I think I ate more than 10pcs. Their Sambal is not very spicy and it taste pretty good.

The Salted Egg Sotong came pretty slow. After we finished our prawn mee and Lala, we checked with the waitress if they did place our order for the sotong. It only came after we asked, not even apologetic at all. It wasn't even crowded and they can't serve us properly. It took like half an hour, and I don't think they need so long to prepare the food. Anyway, I didn't really expect the Salted Egg Sotong to be like what you see in the picture. I expect it to be fried with flour and then adding the salted egg gravy. I'm not really a fan of seafood, so seeing the white and purple flesh doesn't make it look appetizing. But the Salted Egg Gravy is good.

Salted Egg Sotong.

If you love sotong, this is a must try in this restaurant. We regret not ordering a bigger size for this! It is really yummy!!

We also ordered Sambal KangKong (didnt include the picture as it was blurry). The Kang Kong was slightly below average as compared to the other 3 dishes that we ordered.

Overall, the place is worth visiting specially if you live in the east. All of us ordered plain rice &drinks too and the entire meal cost $18/pax. Will be visiting this place again to try the other famous dishes (eg. assam laska)

My friend and I were deciding what to eat when we spontaneously decided to alight at Aljunied mrt for the zi char, which was quite good on my previous visit. This time, we had the Hotplate Tofu - $10: The portion was big, with tofu, mushrooms, peas and a thin film of egg at the base. Overall, it was good and not salty at all. My friend recommended this zi char place within walking distance from aljunied mrt, located along a row of eating places. I ordered the assam fish head (ang ko li fish), which costs $24; the fish was fresh and tender, and the assam sauce was a little sweet and spicy, but not too spicy; goes very well with plain rice. I also ordered the kangkong which costs $8; nothing special though, but I requested for less spicy, which was just right.

The Food
Being a Penang food lover, I been trying all those restaurant that sells good Penang food and these are what I ordered

- Penang Fried Kway Teow
The Kway Teow was tasty and it tastes very similar to the original one in Penang. It consists of ingredients like prawns, crispy bits of lard, bean sprouts, chinese sausages, cockles and eggs.
The taste is the salty version used from dark soya sauce compared to our local sweet sauce version. Personally, I prefer the salty version compared to the sweet version

- Small Prawn Bee Hoon
The Small Prawn Bee Hoon is tasty and the soup has a rich prawny taste that is fully absorbed by the thin bee hoon. These small prawns was crunchy and the texture is wholesome. It's like eating dried shrimps. Inside have ingredients like kang kong, crunchy bean sprouts, hard boiled egg, fresh sliced pork and prawns.

- Assam Laksa
The Assam Laksa is absolutely awesome! The gravy is thick and richly filled with the essence and goodness from the kampong fish that was used. This dish is an appetiser booster as the taste is sour and has ingredients like onions, pineapples cubes, cucumber strips and not forgetting the chunks of fish meat. I can actually taste the fish meat unlike other Assam Laksa that I have tasted.

The Price
Reasonably priced at $15++ for wide variety of delicious Penang dishes!

Overall
The Assam Laksa is comparable to the one in Penang and it is highly recommended!
