After umpteen recommendations and fabulous reviews from friends, I decided to have my dinner at Pitchstop, one of NTU's cheap and good cafe.FOODI ordered their turkey carbonara for a try. It comes with turkey, mushrooms, ham, and most importantly, its creamy and chessy sauce! The carbonara sauce is well-adjusted such that the whole pasta does not have the too creamy kind of feel, and it's moist enough for one to savour it deliciously. Also, you can choose the type of pasta you want to be served.AMBIENCEIt has both indoor and outdoor seats. But I love its alfresco dinning! A relaxing and beautiful place to chill out with friends after classes! PRICEThe price is really cheap and does not have any GST or service charge. For a cafe and great food and cheap price, it's really a great hangout that I would recommend and I would definitely come back again! continue reading

Away from the bustling crowd lies a wood-fired oven. Pitch stop is famous for its pizza, and the pasta is tastefully cooked as well! Pitchstop is visible to everyone walking past. Its transparent glass doors allow us to dine in as if we were dining outdoors due to the sunlight penetrating through the glass windows. The friendly manager gave a really great service. Pitchstop also has a loyalty card and you can check that out in-store for more details.Regardless of the ingredients you choose, the pizza promotes a standardised costs of 9" for $10.50 and 12" for $18.PizzasSausage Olives & Pineapple (9") - SGD10.50I really love the ingredients in this pizza, which contains Chicken cipoiata, olives and pineapples! It was a mix of sweet-tasting pineapple with succulent chicken, and also a unique taste with the olives. The cheese made it all the better, and I would recommend this as a start to try out their delicious pizzas!Smoked Turkey Breast (12") - SGD18.00This contains roma tomatoes and smoked chicken breast. The mozzarella cheese was fumed with the wood-fired aroma, and was delicious to taste.I also ordered a bottle of Kronenbourg 1664 (1/2 pint) at SGD8.00. This is truly a remarkable Paris beer that is a must to accompany all pizzas! I love the bittersweet taste of the cold beer.PastaAglio Olio - SGD6.00The Aglio Olio consists of fettucine sauteed in olive oil, shitake mushrooms, chopped garlic, garnished with spicy chilli padi. I added Mini Creamy Mushroom soup & Ice Lemon Tea for additional $1.50, which was really worth it . We were disturbed by houseflies after sitting in awhile, but thankfully, we didn't get any food poisoning! continue reading

My first try at pitchshop and i heard that i was actually open by ntu students. The serving time was long as i only have 1 hour break and there are so many orders to serve before us! The chicken was served hot but i find it too hard to bite on, and lsyer of oil can be seen underneath! The rasin rice was nice! I like it a lot! But the price was slightly too expensive for a student. Hence, i think they should have some student price promotion or what. continue reading

The last time I dined at Pitchstop must have been over a year ago. This time round, there were quite a few changes The first one was the difference in their tables, they added a fun element to it with games right under the glass. But it was a little difficult to play while eating so... I guess it's more decorative than functional. The next difference spotted was their menu! They used to have their menu in a pizza box (which I thought was really cute!) but now they have it as a pseudo-newspaper - quite similar to Ambush. I think it is an improvement towards being more professional although it used to be easier to read. The wood-fired pizza corner is still around. I thought it's really cool to have real wood-fired pizzas on campus rather than oven/microwave pizzas, no? As a "make it a meal" (add a drink + soup of the day) - additional $2 to the main course price. The prices as reflected below are prices if you order ala carte.Pitchstop House Brew ($1.50): Not a fan of pure coffee like this... this is super bitter but extremely effective if you need a quick pick-me-up. After a packet of sugar, it doesn't seem to taste any less bitter.Soup of the Day ($3): It was Spring Onion soup for the day. It was really quite tasty and sets as a good starter for the meal! It wasn't exactly very spring onion-ish. Worth it to top-up $2 to add the soup and drink but not worth it to order on its own. Turkey Carbonara ($8.50): I was quite surprised that this carbonara is not too jelat. The cheesy taste is quite strong and only the last two mouthfuls might be a little difficult (you know, as usual with carbonaras) but it is really fragrant and yummy! The turkey slices were not too tough either and quite okay to chew. But I probably wouldn't want to eat carbonara in a little while because I always cannot finish it. Overall - I will want to try the Spicy Seafood Aglio Olio ($8.50) next time because my friend tried it and said it wasn't spicy at all! I always love the taste of Aglio Olio but afraid of the spiciness. Looks like this is a good place to try a non-spicy Aglio Olio ;) Definitely will come back here again for a slightly more enjoyable, less crowded meal in school. continue reading

Ordered a plate of spicy seafood aglio olio pasta ($10.50). The linguine was slightly overcooked and was a tad salty but thankfully it was not overwhelming and gave it extra flavour. There were also clams, prawns (not the fresh kind) and squids. The set costs$2 extra, with a small bowl of mushroom soup which was very flavourful and a cup of black ceylon tea. Overall, it is worth a try. continue reading
