My first impression when I pass by this place is the long queue and also the fragrance of the rice. The rice is so fluffy, with many varieties of dishes. The chicken wings are so crunchy and make you want to eat more of it! The otah otah is also great, it has little spicy flavour. The fish cake & green bean also nice. For spicy lovers, add some chilli for great taste. This place opens at dinner-supper time

Nasi Lemak lover would definitely ever hear about Ponggol Nasi Lemak Centre, a very famous food joint in Singapore. Only opened during dinner until late midnight, don’t be surprise, the queue was always there. Price list was pasted on wall to avoid confusion, the price was actually quite expensive if compare to normal hawker stalls. A simple dish, Nasi Lemak was made up from Coconut Rice, Sambal Chilli, Ikan Billis and Cucumber. Other variety of topping was available to add on of course, something similar to Mixed Vegetables Rice. My turn, I pointed to the dishes I want. Fragrant rice with little Pandan Leave flavour, it was fluffy and smoky hot while it served. Lady Fingers and Long beans were well-fried with dried shrimp belacan chilli, matched to rice absolutely. Chicken wing was the must-order finger food, just nice size of golden crispy with tender flesh. Portion was sufficient, my dinner priced at $4.30.

I actually thought that I was going to Punggol for this Nasi Lemak stall until I googled the address. Although it is named Ponggol, this Ponggol Nasi Lemak stall is located along Tanjong Katong Road instead. As if it is not confusing enough, it has two branches : the main branch in Kovan and this is the other branch in Tanjong Katong. At first sight, it might look like a coffee shop, but there is only one stall - Ponggol Nasi Lemak. There is another small drinks stall behind the Nasi Lemak stall

Although it is named Ponggol, this Ponggol Nasi Lemak stall is located along Tanjong Katong Road instead. At first sight, it might look like a coffee shop, but there is only one stall - Ponggol Nasi Lemak. There is another small drinks stall behind the Nasi Lemak stall. It is a norm that one has to stand around and wait for others to finish their food as this popular stall seems to be always fully packed.

There are no set meals. Only ala carte dishes are available as the owner wants the customers to have the freedom to choose what they like. Prices are steeper than other normal Nasi Lemak stalls, ranging from $5 to $8, depending on what you order. For instance, my personalized Nasi Lemak (below) comprising of one chicken wing, luncheon meat, fish cake, peanuts and ikan bilis cost me $5.30.

Given the wide variety of dishes available, allow me to assist you to narrow down on what I think you should order:
#1- The chicken wing is a must-order. Fried to golden crisp perfection, the chicken wing was crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. I am not sure what ingredient was used but I thought I tasted some prawn paste taste.
#2 - The peanuts and ikan bilis. Crunchy and crispy.
#3 - The Otah. Spicy, soft and disintegrates in the mouth.

For me, the sambal chili is the most important ingredient in Nasi Lemak and it can spoil the whole dish if it is not good. Ponggol Nasi Lemak's sambal sauce was one of the best I've eaten. I can totally eat it on its own. It was sweet, spicy and delivered the kick to the overall Nasi Lemak experience. Smile to the auntie and ask politely more sambal chili sauce (which was what I did, although my friend koped some of my extra chili sauce while I wasn't looking). The coconut and pandan taste of the rice was aromatic and subtle, just nice and normal.

Overall, a great place to have Nasi Lemak for supper!

We ordered the Nasi Lemak with assorted toppings. Can be described as roadside dining but at night it's nice peaceful and quiet with the decent crowd of people looking for supper. Be careful of summon officers. Customers usually park illegally within view.

Hmm and so i have heard a lot about this place...The chicken is really good, full of flavour and crispy as well... The rice is very grainy not exactly super moist... the chili is pretty tasty... sambal tumis is what i call it... quite sweet and quite spicy..The egg was quite ok... nothing very special but i can say that it was a very tasty influence of this malay dish.

this is the popular ponggol nasi lemak at tanjong katong, it's quite costly if you compare it to your usual nasi lemak, but the fragrance of the rice, perfectly cooked luncheon meat and surprisingly interestingly sweet crunchy ikan bilis makes it worth. Sometimes there are "human dragon queues".

The nasi lemak here is supposedly quite nice, so my son drove us all there for dinner. I ordered the fried chicken, long beans as well as the ikan bilis. The chicken is really good, cripsy and not bloody. It is also flavourful enough. The long beans are fried with some chilli and shrimp which is the best combination since the sweetiness of the shrimp brings out the flavour of the long beans. Be sure to ask more of the chilli if you like chilli since it goes really well with the rice.

I can see at least 10 people in the queue everytime when I passed by the shop. What is so special about this nasi lemak? People are queueing this fattening food even after midnight. So I decide to find out the answer by joining the queue. I got myself an egg, chicken and long beans. It didn't really give me the 'wow' factor after eating. I find that the rice is too hard and chicken is lack of taste. The only thing which I like best is the chill. Bean just taste average, similar to those mixed r

I love Nasi Lemak that is fragrant, which the rice grains must be neither too hard nor mushy.I added ingredients like a chicken wing, a piece of fish cake, a fried sunny side-up egg and an otah. I can't remember how much was this exactly, but surely it was less than $6 and for its quality, I found that it was rather reasonable.Sadly, the nasi lemak was served on a Styrofoam plate at their convenience but this is really harmful to the environment especially with the human crowd that they're havin
