For pit stop 2, we are having it at Putien, a Chinese restaurant chain with outlets in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia, which serving dishes from Putian – a beautiful coastal suburb in Fujian. The place is decorated in shades of white and light blue, giving it a very smooth feeling.Iced Bitter Gourd ($4.90)Served chilled; the bitter gourd is crunchy and translucent-thin. Every slice is juicy and when dipped with honey, the taste is surprisingly refreshing! For a person who is afraid of bitter gourd, this is good. A simple but interesting dish to peak one up.PUTIEN Sweet & Sour Pork with Lychees ($12.50/ S, $18.50/ M)Deep fried to light golden brown, the meat is tender and moist on the inside. The lychee is a perfect complement with its added burst of sweetness to the sauce.Very juicy and flavourful, although I prefer the pork to have a bit of crispy crust.Shredded Meat with Bun ($3.90/ pc)The tender shredded pork with sweet onions is wrapped with handmade golden sesame bun.It is so tasty that I would like a second helping. The bun is crispy on the outside and soft inside, without feeling too oily.Stir-fried Yam ($10.90/ S, 16.90/M)Yam skillfully carved and stir-fried into cubes of golden crispy goodness. Each piece of yam has a caramelised crunchy exterior over light fluffiness within. A highlight of classic Putian cuisine, it boasts a savoury-sweet taste with a flawless texture.I have never tasted yam with such a duo taste like that.Overall the food is great. Food is served swiftly and there is quite a number of staffs around our tables on standby to serve. This could be due to the fact that we are dining around 4.30pm, which is the restaurant's official rest time and there is no other customers available at that time. continue reading
