This chinese restaurant has really spacious layout and really like the clear and clean light blue decoration in this restaurant as well. First time bought their claypot sea cucumber to go along with bowls of plain rice with my sister. The braised sauce is simply delicious as it is thick and flavourful. The sea cucumbers are also very chewy and soft in texture. The service staffs also quite prompt to our request whenever we request for topping up of our chinese tea pot.

i can always count on pu tien for some old style heng hwa comfort food. And i particularly love their vermicelli.Just look at that mound of ingredients! And the rice vermicelli that's been fried in seafood stock such that all the goodness has been sealed in! What's your favourite ingredient? I love their juicy cute clams and I wish they could just be a little bigger. The crunch of peanuts and all the goodness of greens and tofu puff strips. This and their lor mee. I love.

It's my first visit to Putien City Square outlet. I'm impressed by the brightness of the restaurant, and getting the window seats is a bonus where we could view the street scene while dining. Putien oyster omelet - small ($16.90) is good as usual. The oysters are finely chopped and mixed with the batter before deep-fried to crisp. It's so crispy and nice to bite on. Shredded meat with bun ($7.80) is a little bit of work where you need to put the food together on your own, but fun! The homemade golden sesame bun is superb and fragrantly good. The tender shredded meat is cooked with lots of onion slices in a thick sweet sauce. Love the taste.

Deep-fried duck with yam ($15.90) is slightly disappointing though. The yam block is filled with duck and it's deep-fried. It's so greasy that the yam kind of stuck on the oil paper, not impressed. Taste wise, it's just so-so.

Fried noodle (mee sua) - small ($6.90) is my all time favourite! It's so delicious, and most importantly the texture of mee sua doesn't turn soggy but fully absorbed the flavour of the gravy! A must have!

This is PUTIEN pork ribs ($5.90) from the Summer Menu. The menu was a little misleading because in the menu they showed a picture of 3 pork ribs on the dish and we assumed that we would also be given 3 pork ribs in one serving, but that was too good to be true- you only get ONE pork rib paired with a slice of chinese yam for $5.90. I’m personally not very sure how the pairing of yam with pork enhanced the dish, the pork rib is good alone I guess.

Also in the Summer menu is this Lychee Mango Pudding ($4.90) which is billed as a “cool, light refreshing dessert” perfect for summertime. It is essentially a smooth mango pudding enhanced with a little lychee flavouring and garnished with mango and strawberry fruit bits. I was personally not too impressed with this, it tasted like normal mango pudding to me.

Whenever I’m at Putien, I will not miss these fantastic starter dishes on their a la carte menu:

The Stir Fried Yam ($10.90) is almost like deep fried yam with an almost crispy, caramelized exterior containing a nice soft chewy yam interior. The outer skin of each yam piece is fried to a nice golden brown, and it is glazed with a very addictive layer of sweet sauce/honey? which gives each yam piece a nice irresistible sweet, savory taste. The dish is also garnished with slices of onions and spring onions which pairs well with the yam pieces you’re chomping down.

Another personal favourite, this is the PUTIEN style century egg ($5.90). Soft, bouncy century egg pieces are covered in a layer of crispy flour layer coating which are dunked in a special savoury sauce. Century egg lovers should not miss this!

While you’re at PUTIEN restaurant, you will not miss their special chili sauce on your table, contained in this attractive “Spice Mum” container. It’s a bit like hokkien mee chili, with perhaps more chili padi bits. The chili sauce might be a tad too spicy for me, but it really enhances the flavour of many dishes. I would high recommend adding a spoonful of their special chili to their Lor Mee. The chili sauce really pairs very well with the rich broth of the Lor Mee, adding a complementary spicy edge to the dish. It’s the ultimate combo that leaves me wanting more!

Went to City Square mall at Kitchener Road for dinner with my friends. We ordered quite a number of dishes. I personally like the Xin Hua Fried Bee Hoon. The bee hoon is very thin and fine but the texture is chewy and nice. The price is quite reasonable at around $10. The serving is pretty good. As for dessert, i order my favourite yam paste with gingko nut. it only cost $4. very satisfied dinner

I ordered a meesua (small) which cost $7.90 if im not wrong. Fairly cheap considering their other dishes, but portions were for a single person so don’t expect a big bowl. I absolutely love their meesua. Its ‘dry’ meesua which means no soup but the noodles are still swimming in some sort of sauce (which is very nice to drink by the way). The toppings include prawns (fresh and taste great with their homemade chili), shellfish (2 types, one of which I felt wasn’t very fresh), tau pok, egg, vegetab

Went to Pu Tien for a nice buffet with my family. There was such a wide variety of food available! We tried their different soups, deep fried items, steamed fish, hing wa bee hoon, desserts and many more. My most memorable item is the hing wa bee hoon! It is not oily at all! And there are nuts to give it more crunchy feeling. The noodles taste very ‘clean’ as there is not a lot of sauce used to stir fry it. The prawns in the noodles are very fresh too! great buffet!

This time round at Putien i tried out their cold dishes such as cold jelly fish head, drunken chicken and braised salted duck. I don't normally like century egg but this one was great, i loved the sweet sauce on the batter.

This is the first time for me to have a family dinner at the original Pu Tien Chinese restaurant with my girl friend, her younger brother and her parent's relatives from China.

There is another Pu Tien in City Square Mall. I wished that both of us can go there for dinner, so my girlfriend tried to call her father. Unfortunately, they were sitting inside the private room and her father said that it hard to find a suitable place because other place will be either too crowded, too expensive or too flavourful.

Seafood is good on the very first time eating Pu Tien food.

Lastly, we had very delicious noodles, kind of white (Xing Hua Lor Mee) as per attached photo.

I like the decent Chinese food there. Most of the dishes are quite interesting and worth to try because they are relatively tasty.

Plates are often changed tea refilled.

Service is always efficient although some of the dishes take a while to prepare.

The waitresses there are unfailingly polite and promptly. Always friendly and smiling. Moreover, they will take the initiative to offer suggestions. For example, when we are randomly choosing dishes from the menu, the waitress was quick to point out to us that there was repetitive orders or fried or spicy dishes and we might want to consider a light vegetable soup to balance out the meal.

That is why I decided to write a review on this restaurant based on it's good food and wonderful staffs!

Therefore, I concluded myself that it is a great place for a casual family meals or group meal because my family and I enjoy the food here instead of choosing other coffee shop food. Not good if you are dining in pairs as you can only order a few dishes!

The City Square outlet is the only Pu Tien outlet that offers buffet for their Heng Hwa cuisine.

During my 3rd and chance outing there, I was astonished to find out that they would be terminating their buffet in a few days' time! No reason was given. How sad! Though the buffet will no longer be available, the dishes can still be ordered ala carte.

Appetisers on the buffet line were salted chicken, prawns, pork, jellyfish, crabmeat, fish and marinated winter melon. I love the crabmeat with corn paste best!

The main dishes that we ordered:
Scallop with Vermicelli - chewy and springy and tastes so good with garlic and spring onion!

Seafood Roll with Fruit Salad - Crispy and hot on the outside, but sweet inside. Wonderful when dipped into mayonnaise!

Chilli Live Mussels

The "Golden Flower" Fish - The fish is so tender and makes me want to pluck off the strips, dip into the savoury sauce and savour each strip bit by bit!

Stir-Fried Yam

Stir-Fried Kai-Lan with Beancurd Skin - A downside: More beancurd skin than kai lan

Fried "Hing Wa" Bee Hoon - A mixture of ingredients in this fried rice noodles dish! Very delightful!

Double-Boiled Duck Soup (limited to 1 portion per pax)

Shrimp Dumpling Soup with Pork - Served in a mini paper steamboat. The shrimp dumplings were shrivelled, little meat but nice soup!

Desserts available were fruity jelly, chocolate cake, kueh, sweet potato balls.

Looking at the pictures makes me drool!

The buffet is very affordable considering the high prices that you have to pay if you were to order ala carte. Pls bring back the buffet!
