The servicing of good except awaiting for food was slight longer. The taste of sweet and sour pork was nice as cooked with lychees. With their special Chilli sauce is so great. Kailan since normal for me as it is still served with normal XO sauce. However bean curb toppling was a plus point.
The Putien cabbage rice was not bad too as receipe included some vegetables and mushrooms.

Environment is bright and clean. Overall is good experience.

Seaweed with Mini Shrimps (ala carte $7.50++)
To retain the best texture and nutrition of the seaweed, we use only 15cm-long top-grade seaweed that is harvested within 30 days after cultivation. Tossed with quality mini shrimps imported from the South China Sea region, every mouthful of this starter is a delightful and refreshing experience.
The seaweed was very thin, with texture similar to black moss.

The bamboo shoots was well braised and juicy.

Braised Bean Curd with Chinese Cabbage
(ala carte $25.90++ (M))
Homemade bean curd and chinese cabbage, flavoured with Putian seasonal clams, dried shrimps and dried scallops in a light, tasty broth.
It was a simple soup but the soup was full of flavours especially from the seafood. The bean curd soaked up the soup easily.

Steamed Live Seabass
(ala carte $4.90++/100g (Seabass)
Fresh fish steamed with garlic, black bean in soy sauce and chilli oil, then topped with a generous serving of chopped chillies for a savoury-spicy complement to the fish's natural sweetness.
The fish was fresh and juicy.

Steamed Prawns with Minced Garlic
(ala carte $32.00++ (M))
Succulent prawns lightly steamed and topped with savoury minced garlic.
It was helpful that the prawns had been sliced into two, so that it would be easier to remove the meat from the shells.

PUTIEN Sweet & Sour Pork with Lychees
(ala carte $18.90++ (M))
Deep fried to light golden brown, the meat is tender and moist on the inside. The lychee is a perfect complement with its added burst of sweetness to the sauce.
Looked not bad, but the crust encasing the meat was lacking of crispiness.

Stir-fried Green Dragon Vegetable with Garlic

A healthy dose of emerald green vegetables infused with fragrance of garlic slices.
I like that the dish was fried with lots of garlic slices, but the vegetable was lacking of crunchiness.

Choice of 1 Main Course : Mazu Mee Sua
(ala carte $26.80++ (L))
Mee Sua, or literally, "Long Noodles", symbolizes longevity. PUTIEN Mee Sua is handmade using traditional methods and a recipe unique to Putian. Using premium quality flour, the pristine, white, thread-thin vermicelli doesn't turn soggy when cooked.
The noodle was smooth and well braised with a strong alcoholic taste in the flavourful broth.

Apparently looked alike simple dried thin noodles, it was the must-ordered dish ever. Ingredients were generously given, peanuts on top gave extra crunchiness throughout the end. Texture of Mee Sua was soft and taste like Meehoon, we enjoyed the moist and stirred mixture. Price at $15.90 for medium portion, it can be served up to four persons.

Rich and starchy gravy, tofu was silky slippery. Freshly made daily, the plate was protein-rich and healthier meal. The dish looked plainly with beans and assorted veggies, in fact it was flavourful. Reasonably price at $9.90, the portion was not too big but sufficient.

Deep fried until maximum crispiness, the flesh inside surprisingly remained moist and firm. Served along with homemade dipping sauce, it was sweet tangy. Exactly like home-cooked fried Mackerel, it was delicious but it wasn’t memorable. Price was $4.90 per piece, judge-able value for money.

Quite an attractive dish, the light and crusty layer was awesome. Smooth Yam paste that enclosed duck meat in between, softness and springiness was just right. Mouth-watering in big cubes did a good job to satisfy my taste buds, matched with the savoury darkening sauce too. Price at $15.90, it can be cut into eight pieces. I would say it was a refreshing concept for family gathering or business meeting, always a good choice to dine here.

Pu Tien Restaurant is named after Putian which is a coastal town located in the Fujian Province of China and it serves local cuisine of the Xinghua people (兴化人).

I have dined at Pu Tien a couple of times at different outlets and food quality has been consistent so far. And since I’m also trying to expose my husband to different food culture and cuisines here, Pu Tien is definitely a place not to be missed.

Another must-try signature dish. Pig trotters are deep fried to crisp and seasoned with salt and pepper. I know of some people who find pig trotters revolting because they are considered high in fat and cholesterol but in actual fact, pig trotters are very rich in collagen which is good for the skin as well as gelatin that promotes growth of healthy hair and nails. Whether these nutritional bonuses are really true or not, enjoying this dish in moderation once in a while should be fine. Even though these trotters are deep fried, they aren’t greasy at all!

I really rather like the Putien chain – the flavours are light but intense, and while service can get rather hectic when full-house, it’s efficient and earnest when you do get it. highly reliable, consistently delicious, and a large enough menu to return frequently (though we do have our favourites, of course).

We started with jellyfish – decent, though I’ve had better. the better starter was their fried century egg: wedges fried up in a crispy batter and tossed in a sweet-sour sauce; this was delicious. it always makes me laugh when americans use these delicious things as fear-factor type challenges.

The salt and pepper clams are addictive, and the beancurd with kailan are a must order. the beancurd sheets are wrapped to a satisfying thickness – so they bite al-dente and the flavour of the soya bean comes through.

But my favourite really is their squirrel fish. Essentially a filleted fish fried to a golden-brown and topped with a sweet and sour sauce. It’s completely, and utterly delicious – the fish is fresh and moist, the batter stands up fantastically to the sauce, which is enlivened by the tiny bits of vegetables strewn atop. I have massive cravings for this fish.

The meat dishes are pretty good home-cooked too. We finished the meal with a fruit platter and syruped loquats – I’m not one for syrupy things but the latter were very interesting.

Honest cooking, good prices, decent portions and highly consistent standards even across outlets – and I have a soft spot for regional Chinese cooking (much of what we have locally is more generally Cantonese than anything else).

Braised beancurd. Hmm, I will not recommend this dish as personally I dont like the taste of it. The sauce and beancurd is a bit sour.

Overall, food is filling and yums! The environment is rather noisy. Will be back here again for casual meals.

THis is my must eat dish whenever I visit this chinese restaurant. The pork meat is very juicy and tender, totally not tough at all. The coating is very crunchy and not too oily too. Love the tomato sauce which is thick in texture and coated well over the pork meat. The added green & red chillis have also enhanced the taste of this dish. Great to eat it on its own or with a bowl of plain rice.

Braised BC chinese cabbage ($16.90) is unexpectedly huge in portion. The waitress should have reminded us about the portion of the dish! The Chinese cabbage is stewed till soft in texture, the broth is rich in flavour, with the sweetness from the vegetables, as well as shrimps and dried scallops.

Putien oyster omelet ($16.90) is a must-try dish. The oysters are chopped coarsely, and deep-fried with omelet, giving it an overwhelmed crispiness! Thumbs up!

I ordered a total of eight dishes. The stir fried yam was a simple dish whereby the yams were cut into rectangular shape and stir fried with some sweet sauce. The yams were cooked to perfection neither too hard nor soft and giving it a bit of crispiness.

The sea cucumber was my mum's favourite. I noticed her helping herself to several servicings. Besides the sea cucumber, theree were broccoli, roast pork, mushroom and chestnut in the dish.

The sweet and sour pork was probably one of the best in town. Unfortunately I was late in snapping the picture and the lychees were gone.

The shrimp roll surprised everyone at the table. It was the largest shrimp roll we have ever seen. It was really good but the size of it did not encourage us to go for more pieces.

This is my first time ordering the deep fried chicken with garlic at Putien. It was also the dish I ate the most. The crispy golden skin was very yummy. Although it was deep fried, the meat was still moist and tender.

Unlike the commonly known Lor Mee which is starchy and dark in colour. Putien Lor Mee is white and soupy. It is one of their signature dishes and my favourite too.

The Spinach with three eggs is a dish which I usually order when I dine at a Chinese restaurant. Putien's Spinach with Salted Egg and Century Egg in Supreme Stock was the best I have eaten.

I ordered this dish because my younger sister wanted it. I only ordered 2 buns (the minimum order) since only she wanted it. The dish came with plastic gloves to stuff the shredded meat in between the bun. I took a bite of the shredded meat and it was so so only.

I had premium Iron Goddess of Mercy, "Tie Guan Yin" for a refreshing taste buds to accompany my meals. The tea leaves comes in whole and the oolong fragrance was very strong. Every sip sparks me up and seems to get me ready for the dishes behind the kitchen. Truly stands above the rest and I get heartened every time the tea cup was refilled with hot boiling water.

I did not opt for any starter and zoom right into the mains. I ordered the Fried Homemade Beancurd, Deep Fried Tenggiri Fish and the notorious Fried Heng Hwa Bee Hoon.

The fried homemade beancurd was delightful. It has a pronounced soybean aroma which enlivened by the sprinkled salt (resembled french fries but replacing the carbo-rich ingredient with a healthier version) . Each thinly sliced bean curd has been fried to crisp and the accompanied sweet-sour garlic dip flavors it further (it was as good on its own).

I'd always like my tenggiri fish to be fried thoroughly till golden brown. Yes, Putien's very home-cooked way which reminds me of my granny's version. The fish was fresh with the meat being moist. No traces of awful fishy taste in them which made me adored even more. No greasy after-taste was a plus factor.

Visited Pu Tien at Serangoon Nex recently for dinner with my Loved one. We ordered a small Lor Mee and the Xin Hua Bee Hoon. They are very reasonable priced at $7.90 each and the serving is reallu huge. both dishes are delights and our favourites. After main course, we each order dessert to share. I order a Yam paste which only cost $2.90. It is really cheap and good, really enjoyed my meal.

Have been wanting to try this restaurant, especially their starters and side dishes. On top of the normal menu, they also have special menu for different seasons. Great that we have a bigger crowd for this visit and we can order to our heart content.Normal Chinese restaurant setting. Service is a bit slow and they charge for plain water. All these are insignificant as their food are great!More photos and information available in my bloghttp://monsoontravel.blogspot.com/2012/01/nice-dinner-at-pu

Chicken and Chinese Sausage roll 腊肠鸡卷 @$9.90
Unique combination that blend the fragrant fatty sausage into fresh tender kampong chicken thigh meat. If you always find Chinese sausage too oily, this dish will definitely you a different perspective - Yummy! Must Try!

Drunken Cockle 一品醉蚶 @$9.90
Its not really new to me as I had tried something similar at a zichar store at Commonwealth. Served cold, topped with a generous amount of minced garlic, some sliced chilli and spring onion with wine marinade - refreshingly good.

Braised Pork Intestine 九转小肠 @$13.90
Multiple-layers intestine, didn't really count if there were actually 9 layers of intestines there - chewy dish with savoury braised sauce bursting out while you chew

Stir-fried Yam 酥炒芋头 - M @$16.90
Can't really decide if this is a dessert or savoury dish. Fried Yam cubes were sweet, crispy, caramelized sugar on the outside while savoury fluffy on the inside - Unique taste

Definitely recommend this restaurant!
Recently they introduced All Day Set Menu which is definitely value-for-money compared to their slightly pricey ala carte. Watch out for my review at http://monsoontravel.blogspot.com/
