a friend arranged 4pax lunch relating to a fundonate charity fundraising matter. we decided to go to qiji at funan digital mall on 4.3.2015.^^

My! it sure was crowded at 12pm – long queue like 15pax!

we ordered 3 nasi lemak, 1 mee rebus & a popiah to share.^^

qiji started in 1984 as hock heng at funan digital mall serving homemade popiah, laksa, mee-siam and nasi lemak.

popiah was supposed to be the most popular.^^ we shared the popiah. it was ok, a good popiah. i did not find it especially good.

mee rebus was ok.

the nasi lemak was good. chilli very good. rice too was fragrant. fish was good, tasty & crispy, and chicken wings too. this nasi lemak was about the same as selara rasa, no2 adam hawker centre, and the neighbour no1 adam hawker centre.

i guess i still prefer the 2 nasi lemak stalls at adam road, of which i prefer no1 though no2 usually have the longer queue.

Qi ji mee siam never fails me. I have been eating their mee siam for years. It may not have as many ingredients as some other mee siam but it made it up for it with the wonderful sweet and sour taste. The chilli goes well with the bee hoon as well and it's not too spicy. adds the subtle spiciness to the sweet and sour gravy. As with all Qi Ji outlets, they are usually packed during meal times.

This is one of my favourite dish from Qi Ji Food stall. The mee siam here is very fragrant with really nice presentation as well. The sour spicy gravy in it is full of the nice flavour from the chilli paste and different types of spicies used in it. The orange bee hoon is also quite soft in texture and absorbed the nice flavour from the gravy as well. The crunchy beansprout also added that extra crunchiness to this dish as well.

I went to the Cashier's counter to order a plate of Mee Siam for dining in and to make payment along with this order. The service was a little laid back instead of giving the order to the 2 Aunties a little further down from the cashier's counter. The Cashier asked me to order directly from the Aunties in quite a not so polite tone. This Mee Siam was not disappointing but rather superficially boring. I did expect it to be better though. This Mee Siam was not disappointing but rather superficially boring. I did expect it to be better though. And to make it worst, they have forgotten to give me the little green lime. I do like the extra sourness, i wanted to go back to get it but the queue was rather long during the lunch hour on a Sunday so i decided to forget it.

It is $3.50 for a plate, definitely more expensive than those at neighbor area but this is to be expected given the prime location of this air-con cafe.

Unless you are rather hungry and wanted to try something different if not perhaps should just stick with their popiah.

They serve a variety of nasi lemak sets. I chose set 3, which comprises of fried chicken wing, otah, egg and ikan bilis. The rice was very fragrant with the coconut milk, and is probably one of the favorite items from this shop. The chicken wing was crispy on the outside, tender and juicy inside. The ikan bilis was fried well and maintained its crispiness. The otah was quite spicy, but delicious. Those who like spicy food will love their chili - a must have for nasi lemak. I must say that I really like QiJi's food! I was brought there the first time and I ordered the Popiah, because nearly every table at QiJi was eating the Popiah. You could choose between spicy and non-spicy. I ordered two Popiahs, one spicy and one non-spicy. It was delicious! Although I preferred the spicy one, you could really taste the peanuts and the delicious veggies in it. The skin is soft and yummy as well. Recommended! As for the Mee Siam at QiJi, it's also quite delicious. You'll love the thick consistency in the mee siam, and it's spicy enough although they do have their own made chili next to it.

For around $5-6, you get to enjoy these two delicious dishes at QiJi. I think the price is really affordable though it's self-service. The Nasi Lemak is also quite delicious, but I think the Mee Siam takes the highlight, as it's both sweet and spicy.

The first time I saw and heard about QiZi I didn't know what to expect. So, just this week I was in the area and popped in to give it a try. I ordered Set 6 for S$4.80 and a barley water to eat in.Set 6 consists of rice, fried egg, fried fish, fried chicken wing, ikan billis, generous portion of chili and cucumber slices.I found the egg a little over done (the yoke wasn't even waxy) and the fried fish was not cut. The rice was fragant and full of flavour plus it was not overcooked or undercooked

I found the egg a little over done (the yoke wasn't even waxy) and the fried fish was not cut. The rice was fragant and full of flavour plus it was not overcooked or undercooked. The chili paste was sweet and spicy hot but not so hot that you'd kill all your taste buds with one bite.

The organisation looks good but somewhere along the line I feel something is wrong as the turnaround time to get me my meal was far too long. A server and a cashier should run smoothly but I ended up in a different queue after ordering.
