I strongly recommed this!

Topped by Chicken Cutlet and scrambled egg, entire was appetizing with glaze of Teriyaki Sauce. Warm and tasty, I never regret to have it. The rice was soft and yielding, high standard of grains. Apparently taking Claypot rice, awesome pipping hot yet the portion was small. The cost dining was affordable, with pleasant environment and service.

Sanpou (三宝) refers to the 3 featured ingredients within the dish - Cha Shu, Toroniku and Buta Kakuni all served in a pork bone broth.

Even so, I didnt quite come away impressed. The Cha Shu and Toroniku were near undiscernible and tasted very much like unseasoned pieces of cooked ham. Saving grace did come from the Buta Kakuni aka Pork Belly in special sauce which was tender and flavorful from the sauce at the same time.

Very much a pork broth advocate when it comes to ramen, I was also pretty much disappointed with RamenPlay's rendition. The milky concoction just doesn't pack the punch in terms of taste.

I did finish up on a high with an order of gyoza. Even though there was nothing spectacular, it was just as tasty as gyozas go, and I'm pretty satisfied with that.

Verdict: Would stick to my gut feel and leave ramen for the authentic ramen people.

RamenPlay styles itself as having a 'playful' concept, though I fail to see how this theme is incorporated.

Ambience at RamenPlay is modern contemporary. Decor is minimal, and colour themes of their outlets is black-and-white classic. RamenPlay staff uniforms add to the overall experience, as they are dressed in theme colours with suspenders. Layout is clean and orderly, but furniture comfort is just average.

Service at RamenPlay is quick and efficient, and also rather mechanical in nature. Dishes come out quickly, but style of service is similar to fast food... little interaction, quick, efficient, and a little souless. Decent enough for dining, but not particularly memorable or outstanding.

Food at RamenPlay, as the name suggests, is mostly focused on ramen noodle soups. While the noodles are pretty good, with a springy and bouncy texture and slight bite, the highlight is their rich soup base. RamenPlay has a good variety of soup options, such as miso, shoyu, tonkatsu and more, and the cuts of meat are quite high quality. This also means that an average meal at RamenPlay is quite pricey, expect to pay around SGD $20 plus per person.

Sanpou ramen
This dish consists of 3 types of pork meat from 3 different areas of a pig. I could tell the pork belly and the regular round shaped pork char siew slices, I couldn't tell what is the 3rd type....anyway, all porky meat served here were yummy. The soup base was a tad salty though but still good.

Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen &
Cha Shu Ramen

The broth is really tasty I must admit, just that I would have loved it more if there was a more intense taste of pork bone in the soup broth, achieved by boiling the pork bones for many many hours. (Tonkotsu Ramen takes its name from "pork bones"). Also, I find the noodles to be slightly similar to maggie noodles. Would have also loved the lava egg if the yolk was more runny because it seems a little too overcooked for my case.

I ordered the chashu tonkotsu ramen. It had 5 slices of chashu and it was the first time seeing such a huge size of chashu that was given. The hard boil egg was nice and had a sweet after taste. However, I feel that the broth is not that rich.

The service was good and the staff even asked us how was the food when we finished eating. I also overheard the staff recommending to another table to try their condiment: chilli flakes and fried garlic, by mixing it into the soup to enhance the taste.
Given the half price promotion, i feel that it was worth and hope that they have such promotion again.

I have noticed that RamenPlay has a 50% off ramen mid-week deal for this month. This presented a really good opportunity for me to taste the ramen offered here.
I already anticipated that there will be many others who will be here for the deal, so I managed to arrive there quite early at 6.20 pm and got a seat only after a 5 mins wait. Subsequently, the queue was really long man!

Me and hubby ordered both the Cha Shu Tonkotsu Ramen & the Cha Shu Double Soup Ramen (both items on offer today).
The egg was nice & runny - good! As for the noodles, they are the slightly thicker yellow type. Noodle texture was quite springy, not bad. For the broth, I much preferred the Tonkotsu one. I do not understand why they mixed the shoyu & tonkotsu to give a double soup broth - in my opinion, it's better to stick to either one, not here not there only made it worse. Still, perhaps there are others who will like that mixed version??

I find the tonkotsu soup base to be lacking in oomph. I like a really intense, flavorful soup base, so this is actually kinda dilute for my taste. On the other hand, if you are the type who finds ramen to be too salty, then this might be more suitable for you.

5 generous slices of pork were given per bowl of ramen. However, they seem to have just been boiled, there's hardly any marinade or grilling done to the pork - which was not what I expected as pictured on their menus. Perhaps they had no time to prepare the pork in time for the large crowd?

- Cha Shu Double Soup Ramen

Service at the outlet was prompt. The manager was calm even though there was a huge crowd waiting. He was also efficient and provided good service.

Personally, I think the ramen is worth a try only for the halved price ($6.40++). Given the normal price, there are plenty of other better choices that I could have.

RamenPlay is one of my favourite eateries when I'm craving for ramen. This time round I had the Spicy tonkotsu ramen ($10.80). The rich soup base of Tonkotsu is so flavourful and yummy to sip on. The special spices they used has a good aroma, not just giving you the spiciness but good flavour. This fiery meal is great for spice lovers, like me. Butariki ishinabe ($12.80) is quite nice too. Butariki ishinabe ($12.80) is quite nice too. This stone pot rice gives sizzling crackle for extra fragrant and crunching. The rice contains top standard ingredients such as premium Japanese Niigata BBQ pork, spring onion, and seaweed, and finally topped with a raw egg. The sauce they used certainly boosts the overall flavour too

Yaki dango (3 pcs) ($3.80) is very yummy and it's a must try I reckon. The minced meat ball is huge, and well-seasoned, what makes it great is the sauce coated outside, slightly sweet like terriyaki sauce but with a hint of ginger I think.

Okura mentaiyaki ($4.80) is my must-order dish whenever I visit RamenPlay. The lady fingers are crunchy and yummy, especially when topped with the cod roe mayonnaise. The creamy and rich flavour is well-balanced by the greens. Great combination.

Hot green tea costs $1.20 at this restaurant. The food and service here are great, but the only thing I might pick on is their air con, too cold and food tends to turn cold in a blink.

Ebi katsu toji set ($13.80) on the other hand, is the fried prawns nested in a bed of eggs, which are cooked to just the right consistency, not too hard or too runny. Perfectly yummy!

This is my favourite bowl of Ramen from RamenPlay. Infact most of them are very delicious, except that this is even more fragrant and appetitizing due to the extra spices and herbs used in it which make it taste even better. The ramen is very chewy and portion is quite generous. The pork belly is really thin slices but the mean is very chewy, tender and juicy. really value for money!

If you like your ramen in spicy version, do check out the curry ramen here. The curry soup is quite sweet and a little spicy in it. Quite fragrant and goes very well with the smooth and chewy ramen in it. The chicken cutlet portion is very generous and the meat is very tender and juicy. The crispy crust for the chicken cutlet is also not too oily as well. Really sinful and yet very satisfying to have this full set when you are very hungry.

I am always quite sceptical of Ramen restaurants as they always turned out with disappointment. I was surprised that RamenPlay has pretty decent bowl of Ramen. I had the Sanpou Tonkotsu Ramen that comes with braised pork cheek, pork loin in char siew sauce and braised pork belly. The highlight has to be the broth. It is thick, flavourful and delicious. However it left a layer of greasiness on my lips.

The Butariki Ishinab is a hot stone bowl served with rice, pork slice, seaweed, an egg in sweet sauce. We allowed the rice to cook a bit longer breaking the egg, mixing and stirring the ingredients in the hot sizzling stone bowl. It gave the rice at the bottome a charred crispy texture.

The ramen consists of three treasures of toroniku which are braised pork cheek, braised pork belly in char siew sauce and braised pork belly in special sauce. This hearty Tonkotsu ramen is garnished with black onion sauce to enhance its wholesome flavour. The taste is great. The pork is being cooked perfectly so as the ramen was spongy and chewy. Everything goes well with the combination of braised pork and ramen with the soup.
