Sooooooooo cute! That was what I exclaimed when the husband took this out from the box. Though the name was Brownie Bear, it really was just a chocolatey cupcake with chocolate frosting, bear cookie and a sugared bow. The size was quite small so when the husband said this cost $6.50, I was flabbergasted. How expensive for something that you can devour in two bites! The chocolate cake was really rich and chocolatey, moist and bouncy. And the frosting wasn’t overly sweet too. The cookie had a lovely, buttery flavour but wasn’t greasy on the outside. Apparently, the Brownie Bear wasn’t on their regular menu so it was a promotional item for a limited time only. Though overall it tasted good, it wasn’t exceptional and definitely didn’t worth its price tag.

Vanilla sponge layered with chestnut filling, whipped cream and topped with a Japanese chestnut. Absolutely delicious! This was one of the best Mont Blancs I ever had. The chestnut puree was smooth and creamy (like eating the Teochew Yam Paste aka Orh Nee) and the chestnut flavour was just so rich and intense with the right amount of sweetness. The sponge was of course soft and moist and the whipped cream wasn’t cloying either. You just have to combine every layer in every bite to enjoy that textural wholesomeness of the cake. Thumbs up! I highly recommend this!

It was my friend's birthday and we decided to get her a cake from Rive Gauche Patisserie since she had mentioned that she fancies their cakes. The strawberry shortcake is quite a creamy cake as the outer layer of the cake is made of cream and in between each strawberry is blops of fresh cream. The cake itself is vanilla sponge cake. There are two layers of vanilla sponge cake, separated by layers of cream. The layers of cream in between the cake also has sliced strawberries. I would say the cake is rather nice if you enjoy a creamy cake. The vanilla sponge is more dry than spongy which is quite a pity to me since I preferred a cake with a moist texture. The cream is very light and it doesn't feel too heavy or indulgent, so one can definitely finish the cake without any problem. Even though it is quite alright, but I didn't feel as though it is exceptionally good. That said, I will like to try their signature chocolate cake next time.

French puff pastry with soft, moist sponge cake, whipped cream and fresh strawberries. How delectable can this not be! It is a challenge to eat the Napoleon (without mess) because the pastry is not fork-friendly and the cream is easily displaced if you stick your fork down. Even if you pick up the whole thing with your hands to try and take a bite, it will be equally messy. So what I do is to start with the top half and then eat the bottom half. I love the layers in the Napoleon – the flaky pastry, soft sponge, light cream and the sour-sweet strawberries – all come together in one bite. The strawberries neutralise the sweetness with their slightly soury flavour, making this dessert not cloyingly sweet at all. I love!

If you ask me, I only can remember Rive Gauche located at Takashimaya around Food Department there. I had chance to pass by the only take away kiosk, there was no seat available if I am not wrong. Cake was filled with rich silky cream with slices of fluffy butter sponge layer, Yummy. Topped off with two huge Strawberries, it had a very appealing looking. The confection was fresh and light, I was totally drooling when time I was holding it. It would be the best dessert after lunch, especially for those who craving for sweet stuff. Make my wish, I hope everyone around me stay happy always. Haha.

Custard puffs' lovers must no miss this giant custard puff from Rive Gauche Patisserie. Not just huge in portion, the taste is simply amazing and yummy. Puff texture is very fluffy and soft, which you can really taste the different layers when you munch on it. There are generous amount of smooth and thick custard cream filled in the puff, which is not too sweet and fragrant. Great to have it with a cup of coffee or tea.

This fruity sponge cake from this premium japanese cake shop is definitely one of the highlight here. The sponge cake is really light. Love those very fresh sliced fruits in it which are very sweet and totally not sour at all. The vanilla fresh cream in it is very smooth and light. The combination of the cream and fresh fruits are indeed heavenly delicious. You would not mind to have more than a piece as it does not look sinful at all.

Qualty and fine texture cake are usual the words that describe the cakes from Rive Gauche Patisserie. Decided to try their tirimisu cake and was quite a mix feeling after tasting it. The cake looks very nice and delicious. However after I tried it, i think the coffee taste is abit to flat and the sponge cake could have been more than add on the texture. The slice is quite small so for their price, I think is abit too expensive. Other flavour cakes also are equally small in portion too. Not

Not really my kind of cakes as I prefer to spend lesser for a bigger slice of cake.

Rive Gauche Patisserie caters to a wide range of cakes and they are all highly raved. I bought one during my dad's birthday. A pretty special flavour which is the Pistachio and cherry cake. The pistachio and cherry mousse is sandwiched in between two layers of chocolate sponge cake. The mousse tasted very weird. It made the sponge cake soggy! The mousse is very sour too. Guess the only not too bad items would be the chocolates on top of the cake. I will never buy it again! It's a total waste of
