The stall owners were middle-aged Cantonese. They were very warm & friendly. The man can communicate in Mandarin but the lady can only speak Cantonese. She remembered my special preference of "粿条米粉虾汤, 豆芽多" (kuay-tiao bee-hoon prawn soup with more bean sprouts) even when it was weeks away from my previous visit! Both of them have very nice, sincere smiles…as if they were cooking food for family members.

Today's visit was almost 4 months apart from my last. She was still as friendly as ever, calling me "阿姐" (sis - in Cantonese, of course)…apologizing that they've changed to self-service (although she still serves the food to the elderly personally); introducing all the noodle types available; cautioning that the food is piping hot & to be careful etc…

The Curry Yong Tau Foo ($4.00) looked very delicious. So I made a bold decision to try it out as breakfast. It was surprisingly very nice!
It tasted like our favorite dish cooked by my mother-in-law.  She was very generous with the curry gravy. The spiciness was just right for me & it was not salty…exactly the mild taste that I had preferred (a healthier personal choice). The curry was really piping hot but you can still taste a hint of lemongrass. The spice residue was nowhere to be seen (perhaps she had filtered it), so there was no fuss slurping up the curry gravy. Nice…
(PS: I finished every drop of the curry!)

I saw that she was also very thoughtful to have cut the big pieces of the firm, fish-paste filled tofu, gravy-soaked taugua & crispy taukee into bite size pieces. The brinjal were soft & tender while the bean sprouts were fresh & crunchy. I opted for the coase bee hoon. It was slightly more 'slender' & she cut them shorter then those selling outside…the al-dente texture was perfect for this soupy dish. I had no trouble fitting them into the soup spoon at all…unlike the others.

Verdict:

I really appreciated their sincere passion towards cooking good food & their thoughtfulness towards their customers. Hope they continue that way for as long as possible.

In the early morning this shop is selling the breakfast beehoon mee. Ther is always super long queue during morning hours as the food herr taste great and price is reasonable.Bee hoon is chewy and portion is generous. The deep fried beancurd is very soft inside and crispy outside. Chicken cutlet is very crispy and not too oily with juicy and tender meat inside. At $3.20 each... is value for money. Aunty here is friendly and stall is clean.

This minced pork mee poh is quite disappointing. Mee poh is too dry and not chewy at all. The minced pork are quite chewy but is not as fragrant as what I have expected. The fishballs and fish cakes are quite alright, but nothing fantastic to talk about. Overall was not really that impressive and I think they should be more forcusing on the sufficient amount of seasoning to their noodles because as at now is just quite tasteless.
