I was craving for some sushi so I decided to stop by Sakae Sushi at Heartland Mall to get some takeaways. I waited for more than 15 mins before my food was ready, although they weren't much customers as it wasn't peak lunch or dinner hours. The tempura prawn handroll ($2.30) wasn't good as the batter was very soggy when I got home; the mini don with scallops ($4.50) was disappointing as well as the scallops weren't fresh. I liked the fried oysters sushi ($4.20) though, crispy and I loved the roe. continue reading

I love and missed the cold noodles. They have it like 5 years ago or something. It is very thin and white noodles. The soup is clear and brown. I think it is miso soup. In the soup there is some seaweed. The noodles are very Q and the soup is very refreshing. However, I think the serving is a little too small. I have no idea why they do not sell this noodles any more. Every time I would looks out for it when I go to Sakae. It is great to eat on hot days. continue reading

The outlet at Heartland mall is not very big. Last time I really fancy Sake Sushi but now I seldom patronize them as I find a lot of their items quite expensive. Only once in a blue moon, I will drop by and when I am there, there are only a few items I will order. I liked their chawamushi as it is soft and full of flavour. It just seems to melt in your mouth. Their sashimi are okay, I would say average as I had eaten better ones at that price. As for their sushi, my first choice would be the lobster salad sushi as it is moist and you can taste the lobster bits. It is delicious. Other sushi like ebi sushi (prawn), salmon sushi are okay. Fried tofu is a must as I liked the teriyaki sauce on top of the hot outer layer that is slightly cripsy, yet the inside of the tofu is so soft and silky. continue reading
