Bought takeaway from Sakae Sushi the other day as I was craving for sushi. Their handrolls are quite reasonably priced at $2.20 - the tuna one was alright, nothing special and rather filling. Do get their fried salmon (limited quantities available as they say) - portion is good and costs only $2.20 - thinly sliced and fried till crispy. I also tried one of their new(?) sushi, the fried ebi crepe sushi with roe. The roe on top was great and very flavourful. continue reading

A group of friends and I are having a gathering at costa sands and we decided to do a pot luck. I was looking aroud white sands and was wondering what to get and finally decide on sakae sushi. As my friends are mostly a fan of Japanese cuisine, I bought some sushi and sashimi takeaway to the gathering. Was quite surprised at how beautiful the assorted sushi platter looks (it was beautiful) and how fresh the sashimi looks like. I didn't wait long for my order to be ready and the friendly server even reminded me to consume to food within 2 hours to retain it's freshness. The sashimi is indeed fresh and melts in your mouth. The sushi wise... taste can be improved though, but overall it was okay. Fresh ingredients used as usual. The wasabi and soy sauce is packed separately and was given ample amount for the number of food I've order. continue reading

I must say, though I do not visit white sands often, this outlet deserves recognition. Service wise, just about excellent. Staff are very accommodating and always offer corner seats to customers as long as they are available unlike some outlets that tend to group customers to be seated at one section so as to make their job easier. The manager and all the staff seem to be pretty friendly and welcoming. This outlet does not get too crowded which is a plus point. Alongside that, corner seating offers a good view of what's going on outdoors. At times, the system used to order food is down (happens with other outlets too) but fret not! staff are very prompt in taking orders and food here gets to you really fast! They are also really efficient with water refill's and so on.Sweet Bean curd: One of my all time favorites that I can never get enough of! This dish consists of Japanese sticky rice wrapped in sweet bean curd. A simple dish that tastes amazing especially with soya sauce! makes it really tangy 9/10This dish is Kimchi Tofu which compromises of fried tofu with mushrooms in a yummy kimchi gravy! This dish is mildly spicy 7/10Fried Tofu dish mainly compromises as the name states fried tofu yet without the oil! It tastes like silken tofu on the inside; not quite sure if it is hahaThis is another masterpiece. This dish compromises of pumpkin and potato. It is basically deep fried along with mixed vegetables! very yummy! trust me on this, seeing that I have never been a fann of pumpkin till my boyfriend forced me to try this Both alcohol and non alcohol beverages are served here include the famous japanese sakae! I highly recommend the yakult beverages that have been modified by adding jellies and what not. A good treat!Even with all my boyfriend's other main courses, we spent less then $40 with the sakae card. The sakae card also gives customers credits when they dine and can be redeemed during the next visit! customers are also entitled for other discounts and promotions continue reading

Very authentic, just like what I ate in Japan! the soup base is made from chicken( good choice for people who doesn't like pork). It is clear and not too salty. The ramen comes with a piece of cha shu and an egg. The cha shu is well marinated and melts in your mouth. For meat lovers, there’s an option to add more meat. Service is good or rather efficient. I got my food shortly after i made my order despite the large human flow. Having mentioned that, do come earlier so you don’t have to starve while queuing! continue reading

This is the egg sushi which taste havenly. You can taste the freshness of the sushi from the seaweed, its so crispy and the egg on top is so soft and sweet. It matches perfectly together. This is on the children's menu, firetruck. It serves a variety of food. It includes an egg sushi, fish roe sushi, fried chicken, french fries, ebi sushi. The chicken is fried till golden brown and the chicken does not taste hard. Even the french fries is fried till crispy. This is called the unagi . It also includes eggs in stripes and taste perfectly with the rice. The unagi is very fresh and there is no tinge of fish smell. However there are bones, so be careful still. This dish includes a chawamushi, sashimi and chicken and curry. The sashimi is fresh and the curry also taste nice. It goes well with the rice and the chicken too. The service is very friendly and the environment is clean and beautiful. Its great for gatherings and celebrations too. continue reading
