The outlet at Sun Plaza is quite unique as it is a 2-in-1 outlet, offering both the usual sushi menu and the teppanyaki menu. But the best of it, it also has a playground for the little ones to play in. One can easily have your meal, while looking from your table to check on the little ones.Been not very hungry, both of us decide to order a Ayame Set Dinner($24.99++) to share. The set is available from 6pm onwards. The set comes with complimentary 1 sake cup. One can also change the drink to mocktail or hot beverage. The set is as follows : Assorted ChinmiThe side dishes are light and build up the appetite. The miso soup is light and tasty.Chilled Spicy AsariServed in a black sauce, the clams are rather spicy with chilli padi in it.Shanghai Green with ScallopThe scallop pieces are rather small, can barely taste freshness from it.Hiroshima Oyster OmeletteThe omelette tastes not bad but I dislike having normal chilli sauce on top of it. Tastes a bit off.Tsubodai HirakiThe fish is quite juicy and soft.Teriyaki ChickenThe chicken is cut into bite sizes for easy eating. Tastes quite flavourful.Lastly for dessert, we have green tea mocha, which is actually mocha stuffed with green tea flavoured ice cream. Quite a sweet end to a tasty meal.Overall quite a tasty meal. Great place tor kids. Little JJ has a great time in the playground in the restaurant. continue reading

This egg omelette sushi is well like by my whole family. As it is really easy to eat, soft in texture, and even the really young group like my four years old nephew likes it very much too. Roll with a thin layer of seaweed which is best to taste with the sticky firm japanese rice and also with the egg omelette. It may look small, but the taste and the filling power of this sushi is really great too! Dip in some wasabi and japanese soya sauce will be more delicious! continue reading

Since July 2010, Sakae sushi has this monthly theme promotion for it’s new dishes. And this month October theme is using “Unagi” where they launch 5 new items using it. So as a regular customer of Sakae, I went and tried their “Unagi Sushi Cake” and “Unagi Cheesy Kushlyaki”. The Unagi Sushi Cake that cost S$5.99 per plate comes with a few slices of unagi on top of the rice cake together with some diced mango, avocado and a little spoonful of fish roes. Although the portion might be a bit bigger for a mouthful bite but I am sure this is a healthy dish with all the goodness from the fish and fresh fruits. But on the other hand, Unagi Cheesy Kushlyaki is quite a disappointment because the deep-fried bread is so soggy with oil that it makes the appetizer dish so oily for consuming. Guess it is either over fried or the staffs has to soak up all the oil before serving to the customer. continue reading
