Located on the ground floor of Far East Plaza, is Saveur. It is right next to the Nasi Lemak stall.To sustain their affordable prices, they have jam packed the dining area, so it can get quite loud, which ended up with me getting a migraine and feeling light headed, as it was very stuffy as well.Make a reservation if you don't want to wait at least 30 minutes for a table.At each table, you will find a order chit with a pen, you can tick what you plan to order and the waitress will come around and confirm your order.It's always refreshing to see a bible verse on the first page of the menu :)1. Mushroom Soup $4.90++Served like a drink, it was very creamy and authentic, definitely not straight out of a can! 2. Pasta $4.90++I really liked the pasta, it was al dente, even though there was supposedly chilli oil, I couldn't taste any spiciness. The crispy little shrimps added a crunch in every bite! Highly recommended!3. Confit of Duck $13.90 ++The mash was like a fluffy pillow of potato! Any baby would happily lick this plate clean of the mash! It was deliciously tasty! The duck meat was also, very tender and it pretty much fell off the bone! The skin of the duck was very crispy and slightly oily. The sauteed mushrooms was juicy and they really didn't give us enough of these perfectly cooked mushrooms!4. Chicken Roulade $10.90++This was slightly too cheesy for my liking, but the chicken tasted okay. When Saveur opened its branch at Bugis (Purvis Street), I've heard all about its offering at very good food at very affordable prices. But the hour-long queues always prevented me from checking the place out, until the opening of its branch at Far East Plaza, which has a healthy amount of patrons but no queue. I have been back three times since.We started with the Mushroom Soup (SGD$4.90) which comes in a frothy, cappuccino style and served in a cup. Rich in dark mushroomy flavor and hot in its serving, this tiny cup of soup is definitely an appetite whetting choice.This Saveur's Pasta (SGD$4.90) is my favorite! Despite its simple ingredients of just chilli oil, finely-chopped kombu, minced pork sauce, chives and sakura ebi, the flavor is just fantastic. It explodes in the mouth in a mixture of spicy and saltiness, with very springy angel hair pasta. One would not believe this delicious pasta goes at this incredible price for sure.The Chicken Roulade (SGD$9.90) is another fabulous dish here at Saveur's - tender chicken thigh stuffed with buttery rich foie gras infused chicken farce, creamy basmati rice and parmesan sauce. Saveur is a French restaurant in Singapore that is known for their affordability as well as their divine meals. As of January 2015, the Saveur group has already opened 4 restaurants and all of them are always packed with lots of people, including the Saveur branch at Far East Plaza.On the night that my family and I visited the restaurant, we had to wait for approximately 1 hour before we could grab a table. I think that pretty much explains how crowded it was.1. Salmon (X’mas & New Year Special) (S$5.90++)Loveable crisp and just enough saltiness.2. Foie Gras (S$9.90++)Fine dining defined. Saveur recently introduced a special 3 course lunch menu on Mondays to Fridays from 1130am to 3pm at $22.90++. It is slightly cheaper than if you order them ala-carte. From a selection of entrees, mains and desserts, make your choice of one from each category.We had the Saveur's Pasta as the entree, duck confit as the main and the earl grey creme brulee for dessert. The Saveur's Pasta is my all time favourite, al dente angel hair pasta tossed with chilli oil and topped with sakura ebi. With its nice presentation, price and taste, I feel it well surpass pastas served in some other restaurants. It is just so tasty and addictive that I can never have enough of it. The duck confit is tender and fragrant, well marinated and flavourful, served with very yummy mash potato. These two dishes are my must haves whenever I am at Saveur. I have always wanted to try their other mains but eventually I would succumb to the Duck Confit. The earl grey creme brulee is as tantalising as it looks!If you are looking for french fare at affordable prices, this is definitely the place to be. Been wanting to eat at Saveur for a long time already, but every time I see people queue-ing outside the restaurant, it always turns me down. Today, the restaurant door was unusually closed, and it didn't look that crowded, so my friend and I decided to have our dinner there. As we opened the door and went in, I saw a machine to dispense the queue number (no reservation allowed at the Far East branch btw), and here I was thinking it would take so long. Moreover, there were some people on the waiting list already. But then the staff straight away led us to sit. Lucky us, first visit without waiting time hehe.The place is not really spacious (the seats are really close to one another) and it's too crowded inside. The ambience actually looks nice with the chandeliers and elegant black color, but due to the noisiness, I guess it's not a suitable place for romantic dining. Talking about the menu, there were not many options to choose from, but the price is very attractive. French food is usually identical with high price, but thanks to Saveur, they have made it affordable.Each of us ordered one dish from the main course selections and a glass of iced water. However, it was a bit too salty for my liking. The mashed potato was a perfection. It was so creamy and tasted differently from others I've tried before (different in a good way of course), and it blended nicely with the orange jus. Saveur's pasta ($4.90) is one of our favourite. It was tossed with chilli oil, fine-chopped Japanese konbu & sakura ebi with minced pork sauce. Indeed very appetizing as a starter. Foie Gras ($9.90) - Pan-seared duck liver with apple-infused port wine & vanilla bean. The liver was seared & seasoned nicely. We couldn't get enough of this!Duck leg confit ($10.90). The mashed potato was sinfully creamy & mushrooms were flavourful. The duck leg looked slightly dry & a bit salty, but when eaten together with the mashed potato, the taste is well balanced.  Pan fried fish (forgot what fish is that ) is done to perfection. From a modest stall in a hawker centre to 2 restaurants, Saveur has certainly come a long way. The folks here pride themselves for bringing quality French cuisine to the masses at wallet-friendly prices.Upon entering, I was impressed with the warm ambience as I expected monochrome, simple interiors, similar to the relatively unadorned branch at Purvis Street. It was already full house when we arrived at 12 noon. We left our name and contact details and left for some window-shopping. Approximately 10 minutes later, we received a call inform us that our table was ready. Its’ nice of them to provide this service instead of expecting diners to stand around waiting. Saveur does not accept reservations, so come early or be prepare to queue.The menu is simple, with no French terms to confuse you. Prices are indeed very affordable, but portions are so small, so you will have to order quite a bit before your tummy is satisfied (I had 2 appetizers, a main course and a dessert plus shared a side with 2 friends).Mushroom Cappuccino ($4.90) arrived in a cute coffee cup and frothy foam atop. Thick and creamy, bursting with earthy flavors, it warmed my digestive system for more to come.The Instagram-worthy Saveur Pasta ($4.90) fell short of our expectations. Its essentially capellini tossed with chilli oil, fine chopped Konbu and minced pork sauce, glittered with Sakura Ebi. Sadly the pasta was overcooked, and the sakura ebi lacked crunch to give the starter its much-required texture.W thoroughly enjoyed her pan-seared Foie Gras ($7.90) with creamy lentils and pickled pearl onion. I like that the meat was not overly salty and the orange added a zesty kick that brightens the dish.If you are not a fan of duck, other main course options include Pork belly ($10.90), Chicken roulade ($9.90), Sea bass ($14.90), Lamb shoulder ($16.90) and Beef Bourguignon ($16.90).Potato Gratin side left a lingering garlicky flavor in the mouth. Entered in and it took quite some time before the waitress noticed us.Ordered Saveur's Pasta($4.90)- Capellini tossed with chilli oil, finely chopped Japanese konbu and sakura ebi with minced pork sauce. The capellini was cooked al-dente. Had a generous amount of sakura ebi. It felt a little like Aglio Olio except that it is not spicy but still it tasted yummy.Also had the Pork($10.90)- Pork belly served with creamy green lentils, soft boiled egg & natural jus. The lentils really had a creamy milky buttery taste. A little salt and maybe peppers were sprinkled on top of the egg. The soft boiled egg was nice. You could see the egg yolk flow when you poke it. The pork was quite tough to cut because of the skin. The skin wasn't the crispy kind you usually get. It was more of the chewy and hard kind which I quite like. Removing the skin, the meat was easier to cut. It was quite tender I think the whole dish works well together- Savoury(Pork Belly) and Sweet(Creamy Green Lentils). I paid my visit to saveur during a weekend Sunday dinner. It's always crowded and long queue during lunch and dinner time. I was lucky to get seat because I was early for dinner around 5.30pm. They have a high tech reservation system with iPad setting. The place is quite small and the seating were quite narrow. But it's fine for me as long as the food are good.The food offered are good and cheap. The portion is just nice for my tummy and I really love how the potatoes are so fragrant, crunchy and soft at the same time. My friend ordered the duck confit which i thought it was quite nice. The serving is slightly smaller but the duck meat was not too bad. It was tender!I ordered the chicken roulade. Serving was smaller than the duck confit. Compared to the duck confit, the chicken roulade was not as good. However, it was worth it for the price i paid ($9.90++). I went on a Saturday for lunch. It was not as crowded as expected but the queue gotten longer much later. The space is not as spacious as their other outlet. While waiting for our foods, there were quite a few people waiting for tables.I decided to try the supposedly popular Saveur's Pasta ($4.90) for the first time. It came as quite a surprise. I'd think it tasted much nicer than expected. The pasta was cooked to achieve the delightful texture. It was al dente though not as hard as compared to some served in the Italian restaurants. Though it was supposedly to be tossed with Chilli's Oil but the level of spiciness was rather mild. It tasted so mild that you might not even noticed it if you missed out the description when ordered from the menu. It served with a generous bit of finely chopped Japanese Konbu and Sakura Ebi rested on the Minced Pork Sauce. When tossed it well, the taste was amazing and it exceeded my expectation of this simple looking appetiser. I would definitely order this again when i am back. We ordered 2 portions of Duck Confit ($12.90) this time. The waiting time was unexpectedly short. When served, the presentation did not look as good as the one we had over at Purvis Street. I'd expect the skin to have a thorough brownish color but the edge seemed to be still a slightly yellowish. When cut it, it was rather soft and not crispy at all. Luckily, the midst part was done just right. The mashed potato was comparably good though. I particularly enjoyed the smoothness and softness of the texture with a slight buttery taste. It just melted away effortlessly in the mouth. It tasted especially good when eaten together with the sauteed Shiitake Mushroom. The orange infused jus did not have a distinctive orange taste but rather a pleasant savoury taste.We ordered the Chocolate and Hazelnut ($7.90) for the first time, too. It is a pile of chocolate mousse served with crushed hazelnut, broken raspberries, roasted rice pugffs, chocolate tuile and praline. As i am not quite a fan of chocolate mousse, i did not quite appreciate it but my lunch companion enjoyed it quite a bit. I guess it should be good. The Pistachio Panna Cotta ($6.90) is still my all time favourite.
