Scoopz recently moved here from Upper Thomson and I'm glad they did! They're in a great vicinity just opposite St. Nicholas Girls and I'm sure tons of the students would head over here for their mid-afternoon snack!Scoopz is a dedicated ice cream parlour which means, they literally only serve ice cream and a short selection of drinks and some cakes in the cake display. They do not serve savoury food or main courses. The shop is actually pretty decently sized. It can fit maybe 20 pax or even more, with the outdoor seating. They have a variety of ice cream flavours and unlike most ice cream parlours, they charge a uniform price for all flavours, so no premium flavours etc. I tried a number of their flavours and the staff was very patient and friendly.I watched the staff make the batter and make the waffle just metres away from my table. The aroma of the waffle cooking in the iron was so heavenly! While waiting for your waffle, you may choose to play some games such as saboteur, old school card games like SNAP or Snacks and leaders and even monopoly deal. I'm sure the school-going kids in this area would make this their daily chill-out spot!Classic waffle with horlicks and coconut ice creamThe horlicks ice cream tasted great when I tried it at the ice cream counter, but half way through it, I realized it was very gerlat and sweet. So I gave it a miss in the end. The horlicks was smooth with little bits of horlicks powder all clumped up, to give it a slight bite. The coconut ice cream was more like a sorbet. It wasn't creamy and the coconut flavour was very evident in every bite. I felt that it could be less icy with the coconut flavour toned down a bit.The waffle was my favourite. It was very crispy and stayed crispy throughout the dining experience and on the inside, it was very light. It wasn't fluffy or crispy inside. It was just airy, which meant that you could tons of these waffles and not fill full!Iced earl grey lychee drinkI had some hopes for this dink, up until the drink arrived. The drink had 90% ice and one lychee from a can. I had to mix it up and it just tasted like lychee syrup from the can that the lychee came from. It was super cold, due to the sheer amount of ice.Overall : Yes I would come back for the waffles. Just the waffles! The service was okay and the staff were friendly and cheerful Which warms my heart everytime I step into an ice cream parlour! continue reading
