Seafood Paradise's outlet at the Singapore Flyer is the most well appointed among its four outlets. Coupled with its central location and pocket friendly prices of its ala carte dishes, even diners with reservations can expect to wait awhile to be seated on weekends and holidays.

If I am to order just one dish to go with rice, it has to be their signature Fish Head Curry Casserole $18++ which is available only for lunch on a while stocks last basis. The fresh red snapper fish head is cooked to a family recipe with lots of coconut milk, okra, eggplant and deepfried beancurd pockets (taupok), making it a balanced one dish meal with protein and fibre. The rich and scrumptious gravy goes perfectly with a bowl or two of piping hot plain rice, or with a basket of deepfried Chinese buns (mantou) to mop up the concentrated gravy. The casserole is served atop a portable stove to keep the curry simmering and any (unlikely) fishy smells at bay. The portion is big enough for three or even four diners if no other dishes are ordered. However it can serve up to eight to ten aif other meat and seafood dishes are ordered as well.

We ordered the prawn roll (ngoh hiang) $8.90++ and the cuttlefish with kangkong $14.90++ as appetizers to be shared among the four of us. Together with the fish head curry and rice, we had a very satisfying meal.

This is one of my favourite dish from this Chinese restaurant, and I urge everyone to try it if you have never try before. The prawns have already remove the shelfs which make it easier to eat. Generous amount of salted egg yolk are coated all over the prawn meat before bring to deep fry. It is very fragrant and not as salty as what I have expected it to be. Once you have the first piece, you will surely be craving for the second or even the third piece.

Both seafood platter consists of chilli/creamy butter crab, stri fried geoduck with asparagus in xo sauce, crisp-fried prawns tossed with salted egg yolk, deep fried coral trout cooked in Nyonya-style, and a seafood fried rice.

Since this is the highlight of the dish, we decided to try the Creamy Butter Crab @ $36.90

I adore the lip smackingly flavorful sauce. Its very unique, mildly sweet, with nice fragrant of curry leave, pepper, and chilli spicing up the milky gravy. But I didn't had the crab because they didn't break the shell properly.

The crispy thin crust prawns dredged in salted egg yolk was awesome, its like wrapping the prawn in a whole salted egg yolk!

I loves the Geoduck with asparagus in xo sauce. Nice fragrant of dried shrimps and chilli. A tad spicy to me, but I think most people will find it very spicy. A very appetizing dish, wish they had give a bigger portion.

Deep fried coral trout was a tad dry and overcooked. But the sauce was tasty with a combination of spicy, sweet and tangy flavours.

Seafood fried rice has scallops and shrimp topped with shrimp roe was fragrant.

Innovative combination that will tickle the taste buds! MUST TRY!

We were spoilt for choices when we were going through the menu...everything looked good. It was painful having to choose. Should we go for the cod fish or the tenderloin?

The beef tenderloin won the poll and after the first bite, our hearts as well. Its wellness was done to such medium perfection that results in this soft, tender and succulent munch.

I'm so in love with anything that comes with salty egg yolks! These are prawns fried with salty egg yolks, but has thankfully retained their "Q-ness". I gladly smeared the nuggets of yolk on my rice...oooh.

Ha Cheong Kai or prawn paste chicken wing. No doubt about its crispiness and I was rather impressed at the fact that it wasn't oily. The only issue is the taste of the prawn paste or the lack of it. It is sorely missing in this dish; not much of a difference from the regular fried chicken.

The Asparagus with scallops was ordered in our bid to reduce our carnivorous "sins". Crunchy, indeed. Dongpo meat - not for the fainthearted. A generous jelly of fat tops the lean meat, but the combination gives rise to a contrasting but otherwise, excellent texture. One downside - the Chef has been too generous with the sugar, leading to a too-sweet gravy.

How can any discerning seafood fan go without the ubiquitous seafood dish - crab! We weren't that adventurous and opted for the regular black pepper and chilli crab. The black pepper was not bad but not exactly memorable. However the chilli crab deserves a mention. With generous amounts of roe within the crab, it held a strong and piquant flavour. The gravy is good for dipping mantou or drowning your rice with. It does has this slight tinge of curry, which I would prefer to do without, but that probably sets it apart from the variations out there. Yum.

Seafood Paradise has served up some really impressive dishes, ending our Flyer ride and our family gathering on a pleasant and perfect note. Well, if the owner can upgrade and grow from its Zi Char stall at Defu Lane (still existing, btw), he should be doing something right there.

Seafood Paradise restaurant is indeed a good place for family dinner. I guess that's the reason why it's always fully booked during weekends. I love love love the chinese food here. This is my second time here as I was literally mesmerized by the taste of the crabs here. We ordered butter crab, chilli crab, kai lan and venison. And needless to say, the portions were quite filling for table of 2. Must tries have to be their butter crab. It does not have a heavy milky taste to it. Thumbs up!

So the next Seafood Paradise I would like to visit is their 3rd branch at Bukit Panjang. Would like to check it out and compare their standard! haha. But anyway seafood paradise is definitely a place for seafood or crab lover! Highly recommended.
