Sedap Corner is famous for their roast chicken. During lunch time, there is always a queue in front of the stall. Seems that I got here early enough today. The chicken was cooked just right that the meat was tender while the skin is well roasted. The rice was slightly oily but was flavorful. We love to pair the chicken with their ginger garlic chilli. It tasted great to add some dark soy sauce to the chilli for the additional sweet taste. The soup was so so though, the typical soup that you can get from any chicken rice stall. continue reading

Located in S11 Coffeeshop which is just within walking distance from Bukit Batok Bus Interchange, Sedap Corner offers a Halal version of Hainanese Chicken Rice (Nasi Ayam). Though it was Halal Certified I thought it was rare as we seldom get to see Chinese working in the stall. In fact the one who prepared the meat was a chinese uncle. If you are unsure of what to order, Sedap Corner had actually help to simplified the decision process by printing out a big banner with its available meal for you. With its delicious images of its meal and signature dishes, for sure that there will be one that suits you. Many of us may have a misconception that Hainan Chicken Rice serves chicken that is de-boned. To clear the thought for those who are still having such misconception, only Hainanese Boneless rice will have the bone taken off from the meat. I had the special meal which comes with a good portion of rice and chicken, also with braised Tau Gua as well as half a slice of the egg. The skin of roasted chicken looks a little dry and tasted rather salty, not to my liking. However to average out the scores, their price was pretty fragrant and not too oily. Cost: $3.60 continue reading

Roasted Chicken rice $3. The rice was rather fragrant. The roasted chicken was very tender and not at all salty. It was also not oily. The portion was however quite small and would be ideal if they gave more chicken. It would otherwise be a perfect meal! The chilli was very good, sufficiently spicy and garlicky and paired very well with the fragrant rice. The soup tasted normal and plain. continue reading

I was quite in doubt at first whether halal chicken rice will taste as good as famous hainanese.I ordered the special meal which contain tofu and egg as side dish. The first bite on the rice make me want to continue eating non stop because it was not oily and most importantly..very fragrant!.The roasted chicken is soft and goes very well with rice and their chilli is very addictive. continue reading

Me and my friend were having our lunch there and we decided to order a plate of chicken feet in addition to our meal. The chicken feet is marianated using a special spicy sour sauce and it is this sauce that is really the difference in this dish. It is very tangy, and the spicyness is just right to give it the dish a spicy kick without being overly hot. The chicken feet is very jelly as well, no hard bits which is great. We enjoyed it a lot. continue reading
