Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks! Love their spicy fried chicken and finger food. So convenient to grab one packet on the go. It is also very reasonably priced. However, the chicken is abit alot and I always cant finish it and has to end up throwing it away. Such a waste of good food, I know. Haha.

This Taiwan snacks stall has been famous all around Asia I guess..?Crispy chunks of deep fried chickenI like to bite them so i doesnt want them chopped/cubed.The chicken is boneless and they cut it into pieces that just nice for a bite. You can choose different types of powder for eg: spicy or pepper salt. But I prefer the original one, already very flavourful.I really like the texture of the meesua and the broth. They are prepared in such a way that the meesua seems to have blended in with the sa

I really like the texture of the meesua and the broth. They are prepared in such a way that the meesua seems to have blended in with the sauce, but not yet melted completely.
Each mouthful mellows down smoothly into my throat.I was hesistant about eating the oysters at first as i was afraid it might not be fresh, but i was wrong. The oysters tasted fresh and i had a good chew, there was no fishy/sour taste.

My favorite is the oyster mee sua, though not as authentic as the one i eaten in taiwan but still not too disappointing. The best alternative in Singapore though. The oyster tasted quite fresh and the mee sua is soft but not meshy. The fried chicken cutlet is equally good if with extra chilli powder.

This is their signature dish and it tastes no different from Taiwan. The chicken is boneless and they cut it into pieces that just nice for a bite. You can choose different types of powder for eg: spicy or pepper salt. But I will request for sour plum powder because it tastes sour, sweet and salty at 1 go.

Usually go Shihlin is because of their famous XXL chicken , this time round tried a different item , crispy floss egg crepe . Didn't expected that this item turned out to be very nice too. Firstly the amount of floss inside was quite a lot. And the corners of the crepes is crispy and the inner part is soft . The person also add the " seafood sauce " on top of it , very nice next time I will request more of that sauce the food is not very oily too .

I really enjoyed eating the XXL crispy chicken. The queue although pretty long runs pretty fast because of the efficient service there. One staff collects money and prints out the receipt, One person fries the chicken and the other dishes it out to the customers. Its really good with the chilli powder

After doing some shopping at Ang Mo Kio Hub, I was a bit hungry so decided to go the basement to grab some snacks. That will be Shihlin Taiwan street snacks. I loved their snacks, especially their XXL Cripsy chicken but I got something different this time round. I saw they have the fried sweet potato so decided to give it a try. Not bad. It was hot and cripsy on the outside but sweet and soft inside, not too dry. One must note that this outlet is quite busy especially during the weekends. Person

One special thing you see in Singapore is that the chicken is actually cut up for easy consumption, but in other countries, they do not cut their chicken up into smaller pieces.

I love that XXL Chicken, but have noticed that over the years... the size of the chicken has dropped a lot as compared to the beginning. However, this has not deterred me from buying it. I love it because of the spice that they sprinkle on top as well, so the chicken is spicy and delicious.

Also, I also like the mee sua. I think it's a good enough mee sua for me, and I can often finish the whole bowl by myself.

However, prices are not cheap, since they are range around $3.50. To eat mee sua and the fried chicken together... it can easily cost up to $6-7 dollars. I guess it's still cheaper than flying to taiwan to eat it?

Do try it!
I'm sure it'll taste great with a bowl of

I was craving for some fried food and decided to get some crispy chicken from Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks at the Basement of AMK Hub!

Although i've never been to taiwan, this is the closest i can get to getting delicious crispy chicken (although unhealthy) in Singapore!

I loved the batter! (I think the batter is specially made) The batter is always deep fried to perfection, golden brown, crispy on the outside and juicy and hot on the inside!

I loved mine with both pepper and chilli as it really brings out the taste in the chicken.

Although the overall taste is good, it would be better if they had used chicken thigh instead of the (tasteless) chicken breast. However, i can't complain much as the meat inside is tender and juicy!

Do consider Shihlin next time you're looking for a (sinful) snack. At $3.50 a bag, it isn't the cheapest snack but it boosts in flavour!
