I only tried the dessert. Mango parfait with imported yuzu ice cream. The price is above average. Yuzu ice cream is indeed something new to me, but the taste is not as surprising as the name it seem to be. It is served with pop pop jelly and mango jelly. Mango jelly is as expected, artificially mango flavored jelly. The service is Good though. Staffs are friendly.

Brought along my youngest cousin, I ordered a Kiddy set for her. Lovely Panda Bento, she smiled and happily received it. Children easily contented, how good if I were her. Inside the box, there was fruits and sushi. Adorable and deliciously appearance, it made me felt like eating hers. Udon noodle portion was relatively small, especially for kids. I was so impressed the thoughtful and flexible idea from Shin Kushiya, now even children also look forward to dine in there.

I had an oyakodon set and it was the simply the best I had. My only gripe is I cannot finish the bowl! It has a large portion of nicely-done soft rice with large chunks of chickens. The service staff is very attentive and will gladly refill your half-filled glasses of water. Not just any water, but charcoal-filtered water.

Flamed Salmon Sashimi Maki (SGD $15.60++) there are 2 types of toppings for this dish - Ikura / spicy mayonnaise and bonito flakes / mayonnaise. Personally i prefer the spicy mayonnaise but both taste good! only this dish that we ordered is valued for money.

Chicken Katsu Curry Don (SGD$15.80++) was a major disappointment and it is even a chef recommendation. The chicken is hard, and the Japanese curry is one of the most tasteless curry that i have ever had. for this dish i will give a 1/5 star rating.

The total bill came up to be around $60 and we conclude that the quality of the food is not value for money.

VEGE LOVE NOM NOM NOM! This is the Sansei Soba ($12.80), translated to Buckwheat Noodles with Mountain Vegetables. I'm not too sure what the mountain vegetables' names are but I could identify the spinach and spring onions! There was another vegetable, it was a little.. sour? I didn't return know what's that. But if you drink the soup and eat the vege together, it tastes pretty good! I also love the pretty Japanese fishcake, might be some "beautiful is good" effect but i LOve the fishcake! The b

The buckwheat noodle is really soft and can be bitten off very easily. If you love vegetables, I think you'll definitely like this dish!

Jurong East Mall (JEM) is a newly opened mall with plenty of eatery, and because of it’s crazy crowd , I had to park at IMM and walk over (10-15 min). I’ve heard much hype about this place from my friends. White Charcoal Water (Bincho Filtered Water)They serve this free of charge, but I wonder upon seeing it for the first time, isn’t it “black” instead of white? The taste is like refreshing mineral water. I’m not a water expert so I wouldn’t know if it’s marketing gimmick, but it’s working.Menta

Mentai Pasta
The pasta was cooked Al Dente, flavour-supported with appetizing bacon and crispy seaweed. Mentai (fish roe) pops on each accurate bite between the teeth.
I loved the presentation of this dish especially how the plate compliments the contrast of colours.

Grilled Black Angus Beef ($6.80 / stick)
We asked for medium-well , but the first round that came in was well-cooked, when we asked for a replacement, they changed for us immediately, only to result in another overcooked. There is no seasoning in this meat, the beef taste is in it’s original pure state which I’m not sure how to describe because plain is not the correct word but it tastes really good on its own. You can opt for curry salt or plum salt that’s provided on the table. I remembered the price of this dish because it was expensive for a single stick.

Cha Soba
Nice and light mellow tasting cold noodles in a hot day always never fails to cool me down after walking from IMM (12pm hot sun).

Pork w/mozarella , Pork w/kimchi Skewer
The meat on its own has no seasoning/taste (or rather the original taste of the meat), flavoured by the additional elements of stickychewy melted mozarella cheese hidden inside the pork , totally delicious. And the Kimchi was spicy and opens up the appetite , sets the mood for more.

Codfish skewer , Shitake Mushroom Chicken , Mentai Crispy Rice
Codfish is fresh but small miserable pieces and we got the “Fin” part , so good news is we get more Omega 3, bad news is less meat and more fatty.
Shitake Mushroom was very aromatic and easily overpowered the rest of the other skewers on the same plate. Fusing the mushroom and chicken together created a unique texture of tenderness and the saltiness was just right.
Mentai Crispy Rice’s topping was very cream-rich and coated over the crispy grilled rice like molten lava.

Grilled Squid
Grilled Squid was perfectly cooked, fresh and succulent. The tentacle parts are surprisingly crispy (usually it’s chewy) , the sauce is sweet and goes well with it. Not sure if it’s teriyaki but I asked for more to dip.

P.S : Thank you for reading till the end. You may go wipe your drool now.

Buta Platter - A Selection of pork skewers, Chizu maki, enaki maki, buta bara, buta kimuchi maki and tomato maki. These charcoal grilled flavoured skewers can be seen freshly grilled through the glass panels of the restaurants.

Mentaiko Pasta - Pasta tossed with codfish roe, seaweed and bacon. Tastes very unique with every coarse bite from the roes and carries slight dryness in the spaghetti.
Cost: S$16.60

Ika Kumuchi - Highly recommended by the server. This grilled Squid that is filled with Kimchi, sour and spicy. If you like kimchi, do try it!
Cost: S$16.80

Ton Katsu Curry Don - Breaded fried piece of pork that looks pretty normal. The unattractive fading brown has somehow "spoilt" the dish. Curry gravy is solely curry without potatoes and other ingredients.
Cost: S$16.80

Cloudy Apple Yakult - As a Yakult lover, I could not resist this new flavour drink listed out in the menu! The chilled apple juiced yakult mixture is tangy and comes with some "popping" yogurt balls.

Recommendations:
(1) Think twice before driving to JEM over Friday and the weekends. My friend waited almost 1.5 hours in the carpark and we were about to complete our dinner.
(2) They gave us a name card. As suggested by the staff, it will be better to do a reservation.
(3) When we got our tables, it was almost 8pm (with almost 45 minutes of wait), do fill your stomach with something first before having dinner in Shin Kushiya.

Ordered Chicken Curry Katsu Don, it was normal. Nothing special other than varieties of salt that they have. Thus able to slightly customize the curry, cause I find it a lil' bit tasteless. Overall was good, service staffs are really friendly. Environment is nice maybe because the mall is quite new, and may feel the food is a bit pricy. Would and would not com back again, will be depending in mood.
