i've walked past this place a number of times while i was in ION orchard, but i never really went in! i think cos i was always worried that the smell would stay in my hair. haha, oh i havent even introduced the place yet!
it's a teppanyaki restaurant, where you can sit at a bar counter (like those in japan), where you face the chef in the centre and they'll place your food on an induction cooker in front of you to cook. pretty cool! but we found that it was kinda hard to talk when you're all siting in a row -.- so opt for one of the tables at the side if you wanna have some proper conversation during your meal! haha.

they have these nabe sets that are quite comprehensive! this was my friend's order of the chicken nabe ($10.90). you can chose either the sweet sukiyaki soup (i prefer this!) or the savoury shabu shabu soup. it comes with a bowl chock full of cabbage, mushrooms, tofu, some other green veggies, and your meat on the side, with an egg, salad and rice! not bad eh! i tried my friend's chicken and it had a really wonderful texture! super light and soft

i ordered the pork yakimeshi ($9.90) which was a pepper-lunch style of rice in a hot pot with all the yummy ingredients, and it also came with miso soup & salad! the waitress helped me to cook my whole dish.

and it was sooooooo fragrant i couldnt wait to start digging in! excited much!
the flavours of the egg, juicy succulent pieces of pork, mushrooms and sauce all went perfectly together. the entire dish was bursting with a lovely aroma, and it tasted as good as it smelled

even after the smell of the food stuck to me after that, i would say that it was worth it xD

It was TGIF and while searching for a decent place for japanese food, I chanced upon Sho Teppan which serves shabu shabu and teppanyaki set meals. The chicken slices were well marinated with the teppanyaki sauce and the vegetables like the carrot help to balance off the strong teppanyaki taste.

Kurobuta Pork Shabu Shabu ($17.90)
The slices of pork looks quite bloody red, which seems to be a rather poor grade. As we are having it in Sukiyaki, the set comes with udon and salad and a raw egg, and the vegetables comes in a sweet soup base. To enjoy sukiyaki the right way, remember to cool or dip the cooked meats in the raw egg. The egg is pasturised and will add a smooth and cool texture to the food.

Also order a serving of 1 Chuka Lidako($3.90) which is about 4 pieces and tastes average, as well as, a order of Enoki Mushroom ($1.90) to add into the hotpot. I do not feel the vegetables that come is enough.

Mochi Ice Cream ($4.90)
We have a chocolate flavour and a vanilla flavour each. The chewy mochi skin is quite thin, but the ice-cream filling is quite normal.

Total damages of the above and including 1 Sangaria Ureshii Peach Juice ($4.90), 1 Sangaria Ureshii Orange Juice ($4.90), Homemade Iced Honey Lemon ($2.90) = $100.05 for 3 persons.

The concept of the restaurant was rather interesting, I was seated at a counter seat and there's an electric stove in front of every seat. A staff is also positioned inside the counter to help if you need any assistance with the cooking. Due to stoves, the seats are paced and is a little hard to share..

I order a Salmon Yaki Udon set for myself and the set comes with a salad and miso soup.

After it was cooked.. I would say it's quite nice and you would feel a small sense of accomplishment if you are like me, who doesnt cook. Downside is you will smell when you leave the restaurant from all the smoke.

Also need to take extra note to turn down the heat when you want to pour the egg in as it gets burnt rather quickly. Also leave it at low heat when your food is cooked and you want to start eating..

Dont mind coming back to try the soup base set meals next time!

Well, the soup base was rather bland and pales in comparison to other casual Japanese dining restaurants like Sushi Tei. I wasn't expecting 5-star food, but the Sukiyaki here was quite disappointing. What's worse is that the service staff, who I suppose are there to help guests cook their food, were not really doing their job. They even forgot to turn on the stove for us. On hindsight, their Teppanyaki sets do look better than the Sukiyaki set I ordered, but I probably won't be coming back here again.

We ordered chicken soup base which is being heated with induction cooker. Firstly, I add in the vegetables and when it is boiling, the chicken slices are subsequently added into the soup. The plus point is that there is free soup refill for all.
When the chicken slices are cooked, dipped into the egg and ENJOY!

For the fried rice, add in the special sauce provided by the restaurant and mix it around and it's ready!

I will recommend all to try this restaurant out!

P.S. I think that the soup is abit too salty but everyone has differing taste.. Try it out!

When you're in Ion, queuing up for food is a pain in the butt but luckily, the Sho Teppan did not have much crowd during this Saturday afternoon. My friend and I were famished so we decided to order one pork dish and one beef dish to share. This is the stock for the Marbled Pork Shabu Shabu. There is one whole mushroom and plenty of vegetables to flavor the soup. Not to mention lovely thick glass noodles. The stock is a nice balance of sweet and savory. It's very addictive (can't stop drinking)

The marbled pork slices. I like to beat the egg and dip the cooked pork slices in it before munching on it. Super delicious!

The Banzai Wagyu is quite tender and requires a watchful eye to make sure they are not overcooked. It came with 2 dipping sauces - a white wasabi flavored sauce and a BBQ sauce. I prefer the BBQ sauce.

You are given oil to pour into the pot to cook the vegetables and beef. The vegetable/mushroom mixture is really nice after booking as it absorbs the taste of the beef and some of the fats as well. Very tender and nicely compliments the rice.

Me and my girlfriend is the big fan of this Japanese hot pot outlet. We were so craving to their thinly sliced pork belly and beef meat that we will normally try to take the attempt to meet up at least twice a week to have this yummy hot pot in this restaurant. As you can see, both the beef and pork belly are presented neatly in their serving plates which are very fresh, tender and juicy. Usually we will at least order two to three trays for both the meats during every visits.

If you like to drink spicy soup, this version here from Sho Teppan will be ideal for you. The portion is very generous and inside have lots of fresh crunchy carrots, cabbages, mushrooms and beaten egg in it. The spicy soup base is very tasty but may be slightly salty. Goes well with a plate of their fragrant rice or to just have it on its own. The restaurant environment is also very clean and neat, which is great for cool quiet dinings.

My sister had the soup udon while i had the stir fried udon! The soup udon is as shown in the picture. You cook the udon and ingredients in the pot urself just like having a steamboat. I had the salmon stir fried udon which is pretty good! Love the unique sauce they fry the udon and salmon with and the vegetables were also in abundance. I really like this particular teppan shop because it allows me to DIY. I have patronised this shop several times. It's price is reasonable that is why I recommended it to some of my friends. Today, I ordered the beef teppan. The advantage of this teppan was that it allowed me to control how I want my beef to be done. I prefer my beef to be medium well. Most of the teppan comes as a set, with rice, salad and miso soup. I like their salad dressing. A little sour, very citrus like.

Went to Sho Teppan for a meal with friends The wagyu beef slices were awesome! Very very chewy and tasty. We were trying not to overcook it haha. The sauce in the teppan pan seemed quite little, but when you start cooking, the sauce seeps into the beef and blended in very well with it, giving the beef a very sweet taste. AWESOMENESS!

It was quite fun as can cook the meat on our mini steamboat and can adjust the heat of the electric stove we want. I enjoyed myself very much and would like to recommend more people to try it. Especially during cold weather, it is the best choice of food that can keep you warm with a hot soup
