SEAFOOD AVOCADO PASTA (14.80)
The al-dente fettuccine complimented well with the creamy sauce, and the unusual avocado on the side provided a refreshing-buttery component to the dish. There were shrimps, clams, octopus and scallops atop the pasta but the portion was simply disappointing.
SLICED TERIYAKI OMU RICE (12.90)
Presentation was not the priority for this dish and it seemed that the dish was drowning in sauce. The soft and creamy omelette parcel was commendable, and the fried rice soaking up the teriyaki sauce was decent. The sliced beef was slightly dry and chewy but the sauce was able to compensate for the flavor.
The food was decent but doesn't leave a lasting impression.

went with friends to watch “the theory of everything” at orchard cineleisure on 16.1.2015. it’s a movie about the lives of stephen & jane hawkings.

really nice movie – wonderful script, acting, direction. i liked it very much! ^^

after movie, we decided to have a quick dinner at shokudo (食堂or canteen in japanese) at level 2.

we ordered 4 dishes to share for 4pax as we only wanted a light meal, and one friend had to leave shortly. later we added a parfait for remaining 3 of us to share.

we had the unagi tofu salad. somehow we were chatting & missed the wafu 和风 dressing (a vinaigrette) or ponzu sauce until we almost finished. the salad was actually quite nice with the dressing.^^

the saba don was quite tasty. saba was tasty & tender & the don (rice) was nice.

the ebi (prawn) mantaiko aloo olio looked anaemic when it came. my friends added the grated cheese & red chilli pepper & it looked a bit more appetising. the truffle flavours were actually quite nice.

we had a fried egg tofu with some cheese flavours topped with mentaiko. pretty ok. felt like the tako balls type preparation.

i always like the parfait in japan & also sun with moon. this was good good, with yuzu sorbet. mochi, green tea jelly & cornflakes…didn’t see any chestnut? anyway i liked this best.

the food was ok. the bill S$66 also about right for the food we had. it was a fun time with friends – movie, makan & chat.

Headed back to my all-time favourite dining place - Shokudo at Cineleisure. This time, i ordered the curry omu rice with ebi prawns. We ordered matcha float as well, which tasted exactly the way it's named.
Staff were still in shortage, as always, and the food took around 20 to 30minutes to arrive, once again. Overall, Shokudo is a place where i never felt hungry still after my meal, unlike many other restaurants/cafes. Will be back again!

Tomato-based pasta served, this classic pasta was flavourful. Bacon was in correct ratio, belly soft and tender meat. Pasta shimmered in sourly sweet gravy remained springy, not overcooked or too mushy. It was not a luxury dish yet delicious and appetizing. We had a pleasant dining time over there, affordable price plus comfortable ambience.

Shokudo is a Japanese restaurant that serves both Japanese food as well as western delights such as pasta. We went to the branch at Cathay Cineleisure, which was relatively quite empty for dinner timing. We ordered a carbonara and a mushroom pasta for the mains. In my opinion, the carbonara was really not bad, but I would prefer it to be a little bit creamier (personal preference). We didn't have any desserts there due to their limited selection, and their desserts didn't really appeal to us as well.

Ordered this Tori Teriyaki Curry Omu Rice at Shokudo Japanese Pasta & Pizza restaurant and the night scenery outside the restaurant was really beautiful when sitting by the window.

I pretty adore the idea of putting the curry separately from the Teriyaki Chicken as I was able to taste the original and well marinated Teriyaki Chicken. The Teriyaki Chicken was very tender as the meat was from chicken thigh. The curry was very fragrant and it was pretty thick and concentrated which is very much to my liking. It tasted extremely good with the rice as well as the Teriyaki Chicken. There were potatoes and carrots embedded inside the curry as well.

The service and the environment of the restaurant was pretty good.

The food here is quite overpriced, considering the taste is only so so. My friend tried the beef patty with rice but ended up not finishing it because you will get sick of the taste quite easily. I ordered the cheese baked rice with chicken chop and it tasted normal. They gave a lot of rice though hence I couldn't finish it. The ice coffee is nice but still too expensive.

Heard good things about the cream pasta at Shokudo and went over to try it. The restaurant at cineleisure is a pretty small place so do get down early to prevent a long wait for table. The Seafood Avocado Carbonara Pasta was done well, and goes well with their special miso cream sauce. You won't get sick of eating it, and for those who dislike avocado, fear not as it didn't taste like it at all.

It looks really appetizing in the picture with a half raw sunny side up topped on the spaghetti.

Placed our orders and also requested for 3 cups of plain water but we were told that a cup of warm water costs $0.50.

Was quite surprised with this as it normally costs $0.30 but this is almost double the price. We decided not to order the 3 cups of water.

The food took quite some time to arrive and when it arrived, my carbonara pasta is warm.

The sauce is really generous and it tastes milky and creamy. The egg on it is similar to as shown on the picture, half raw. And I mixed it with the spaghetti ;D

It is miso cream sauce and it does have quite a strong taste of miso. Personally I really liked it since I’m a miso lover ^^
However the dish turns cold shortly after.

The amount of bacon is not a lot though, and it is not very worth the price afterall.

I would probably try out other dishes the next time. After GST and service charges, it is about $15.

I ordered the Japanese Rosti with Japanese Curry Sauce, costing me $8.90 if I didn't remember wrongly. I think the rosti was alright because it wasn't too oily like how some rosti would be. As for the curry sauce, it taste well with a few chunky potato cubes. The rosti comes with japanese mayonnaise too, but I didn't quite like it cos t tastes kinda weird. It was served quite fast too!

Decided to share some desserts with my friends before heading over to another location to have more desserts! Ordered the tofu cheesecake as I was craving it and between the four of us, it was insufficient! We ordered the blueberry cheesecake as well but the blueberry taste was not strong and texture was not as smooth compared to the tofu cheesecake. The portions are not huge, but just enough for one person!

Would recommend people to try their ice-cream waffles and tofu cheesecake! Will be coming back for more soon!

So last Friday night, my dear and I were contemplating what to eat, before we decided to have our virgin experience at this modern Japanese coffee house.

Upon reaching the restaurant, we were promptly greeted and seated by one of the service staff. The cafe has a nice western touch to its interior and location-wise, I would say it is perfect (considering that the escalators are just a few metres away from the entrance). However, it was surprising that on a Friday night (at approx 8.15pm), the place was only about 30% filled.

Anyway, I ordered the Japanese-style Kinoko Pork Chop (S$14.80), topped up with assorted mushroom sauce, crispy veggies and corn salad. The meat was slightly overcooked, resulting in a tough and "gnawy" interior. The sauce makes up for it, but could definitely do with more mushroom bits and chunks. One thing that was perfect in this dish though, was the corn salad; the cold mashed potato mixed with sweet, crunchy Hokkaido corn was very good.

My girl ordered the Grilled Chicken Curry Omu Rice (S$14.80) - the grilled chicken was nothing special, but the short-grained rice cooked with tomato paste and drenched with runny scrambled eggs was awesome. The dish was also completed with a bowl of typical Japanese curry with assorted vegetables.

Their desserts and square thin-crusted pizza looked appetizing too, not very “wow”-inducing, but I might give this cafe a try again in the future.
