Hainanese Chicken Rice
Review (10)
Was having lunch in the area with friends around Commonwealth and went to check out the famous “Sin Kee Famous Chicken Rice” that recommended by some foodbloggers. We ordered half steam “white” chicken , the skin was soft and glossy, this is good for women as “collagen replenishing effects”. Sesame oil/light sauce soaks its way into the scrumptious and tender chicken meat, for additional kick in your taste “butt” , dip it into the spicy and appetizing garlic ginger chilli. The limelight of this dish was more on the chicken, only one of us ordered the rice as we were eating noodles to "pueh" with this chicken. From what I tasted in a mouthful , the rice was just average continue reading

For full review and photos, please visit http://thumbsforfood.blogspot.sg/2012/09/sin-kee-famous-chicken-rice.htmlPersonally, I am very particular about the rice as I feel that not every chicken rice store can achieve the nice and fragrant rice taste. However, the standard of the chicken rice at the store is not really the best you can taste in Singapore. The rice is more on the plain side, without the fragrance that will make you want to eat the rice all by itself. This is it! They sell porridge as well, not bad if you want something different to go with your chicken. Raw fish slices. $6.00 I was quite apprehensive towards eating raw fish slices with my chicken rice at first. But, since this is heavily recommended by people, I reckon it would not hurt to try this. Of course, I'm glad I tried it. This is really yummy. There is absolutely no fishy taste and it is marinated to the right extent, with lime, chili, parsley, spring onion. A must try if you dare to eat the raw fish slices!Half a chicken $ 12.00. Of course, the main dish is the chicken. I like the sauce, but it may be a little on the salty side. The chicken is tender however, I find the skin not that well done and the chicken is on the fatty side. Personally, I like to savour the skin of the Hainanese Chicken Rice so nice skin is important to me! Overall, I think this is worth eating if you are near the vicinity! Definitely worth the price. continue reading

The FoodI ordered a plate of steamed chicken and a bowl of rice coated with tasty chicken broth making every grain of rice flavorful and fragrant. The delicious steamed chicken is very tender, tasty and fleshy but not overly oily. The savory chilli sauce blended with the rice and chicken very well, leaving a lingering spicy aftertaste on my taste buds. The PriceReasonably priced at $4.40 per plateOverallI will definitely come back again and highly recommended to try this! continue reading

The chicken rice from this coffee shop is one of my favourite. The chicken meat is very tender, soft and juicy, and goes really well with the soft fragrant chicken rice. The portion is quite generous and is sufficient to serve per adult. Usually here is often quite crowded during lunch and dinner hours daily, so do be there early to avoid the long wait and large crowd here. continue reading

I was told this is the same Sin Kee from Margaret Drive. I came here for lunch and ordered a white chicken drumstick rice. It was served with a good portion of nicely fragrant rice that cooked using the chicken soup. The meat tasted tender and smooth with a distinct taste of chicken. Their chilli tasted a little different from other stalls. It seemed to be a bit sweeter. Their standard is still the same as those good old days. It is worth a try if you happen to be in the vicinity. continue reading
