With so many Hokkien Mee stall in one place, don't get your attention drift to somewhere else. Business name is easily remember with "Singapore" as the keyword and queues at the stall was ongoing. What I find funny was that instead of serving plates of Hokkien Mee through their main stall entrance, there was this lady who stood at the metal ladder steps from the side of the stall and all orders are to be made and served there.

Mee (Noodles) were cooked in batches and fortunately even though the queue was long, my wait was less than 10 minutes. At the first look of the plate, presentation looked standard with squid, lime, mixture of yellow and white bee hoon with a scoop of chilli filled with lots of seeds.

No doubt the wetness level maybe adequate with a gooey appearance, it lacked the oomph and did not really meet my expectation of this highly raved plate of Hokkien Mee. Seafood flavours were not distinctively enough and it did not really help even by relying on their Sambal Chilli to enhance the taste.

Hopefully such thing was a once off thing, perhaps the time of visit was not too right but still we had all taken noted they were one of Singapore's favourite with such long queue.

At this food centre, there is really no reason you are unable to find a good food that suit you most.  I am thankful that my friend brought me here to try a few local delights, which one of the best which I have tried is the hokkienmee here.  Noodles are very chewy and portion is generous.  The prawn stock used in this dish is very flavourul and delicious. The basic ingredients such as the fresh prawns and cut squid are very fresh and crunchy.  Also enjoyed the sambal chilli here which is quite spicy and the chilli pasteis very fragrant.  For the price of $4.00 per plate, is definitely cheap and good! The stall helper is friendly and was very patient taking orders. Dining area was quite warmbut is still spacious.

I've never had a bad plate of this. The noodles are always fried al dente with enough bite yet be able to lock in the juices from that umami gravy that it's simmered in and stir fried on demand. The turnover for the noodles are high, promising a fresh plate of hokkien mee every time. The prawns are fresh and squid rings ample.

The chilli? They have peanuts in that and that's really the special part about that. perfect complement to the noodles.

$3. Comfort food.

In Whampoa here, it is always a long queue everyday at this stall. It has one of the best Hokkien mee in town, it got a very tasty flavour and thick sauce too. I do eat this almost everyday, and the ingredients are fresh and generous. Once you eat it, you will always remember it. What's more, the price is very low here for the quality you are getting.

The sambal here was very tasty and not overly spicy...And the pork lard, oh the pork lard, one of the best I had ever tasted... Light, crispy and so fragrant. The combination of the noodles, chilli and pork lard really made my day...!!

A look at the queue will let one knows that this is the famous hokkien mee in town. I, too, join the queue and see if this really taste as good as it seems. Ordered the $4 to share with my other friend. If you are dining with a big group, you can order the noodles all the way up to $15 (can imagine how big the portion is going to be... they do have bigger plates for different price range!). The noodles is those watery version kind, not my preference (prefer dry one) but it does taste good. Stand

I like their chili though, spicy and has the kick to go with the noodles.

The FoodI ordered a plate of Singapore fried hokkien mee which comes in a reasonable portion fried with fresh prawns, sotong and egg. lest it be a revelation of my age...i've been dining here for years. the auntie has seen me through my fat period, thin period, stressed period, jaw fracture period. and here i still always come back again. for awesome sambal. just a note. it's made with peanut. that secretly delicious ingredient. just like the ones in our famous Singapore chilli crab sauce. need i say more?

. You actually order at the side of this stall and wait for your meal (self service). Presentation wise it was kinda of different with 2 types of chilli offered, the red cut ones and also the sambal belacan chilli mix. Ingredients wise is pretty much SOP with sotong and prawn, one lime is also offered. Quantity wise i conclude $5 version is a case of more noodles and not so much about having more ingredients. Texture wise the noodles is the usual wet version which is up to standard but taste-wise i was kind of disappointed actually. Perhaps i had high expectations, it did not taste as flavorful like those i tried at Wisma Food Republic. Maybe he did not wear that straw hat, so the oomph factor is missing. I read good reviews about this stall before so i guess its just one of their off day.

I like my Hokkien Mee to be wet than dry and I was glad that my friend in the East recommended this place. This stall sells the wet version of hokkien mee. I like how the white thick bee hoon and yellow noodle manages to absorb all the savory prawn broth making it so flavourful. This stall's belachan chilli is also quite well done, although it can be a little bit spicier. This is one of the better Hokkien Mee out there in my opinion. Main pointer for me is always the chilli paste. This stalls chilli paste is sweer, spicy and thick. Not like some which mix the lime and chilli together which makes the chilli diluted. Prawns are of considerable freshness and overall a dish well cooked. Waiting time can be quite a pain during peak hours
