After finishing my food, I stared at my boyfriend for 10 straight minutes while he tries intently to finish his. At his last mouthful, he quietly said "Miaow!", which was really funny and appropriate because he's had this dish for lunch the past three days:Just one whole piece of fish paired with a bowl of rice. Yup, 3 consecutive days. My big-meat-eater boyfriend, who rarely touches boned fishes.Soon Fatt does not scrimp on the portion. The huge piece of fish lying on a bed of shredded cabbage on one side has been left fleshy and untouched, while its other side had a thin layer of crunchy fish meat. Lying alongside its body is the 'extra' flesh taken from the side facing down.We first took note of the dish when a fellow colleague mentioned about it once. The sheer size of the fish ensures a filling meal, and hiding beneath the crisp surface is very moist and fresh flesh. The bowl of rice served with the fish had fluffy rice grains and was always served steamy hot.I've tried their bimbimbab and spicy chicken rice as well. Their bimbimbab is nothing to shout about, served in a normal plastic bowl instead of the hotplate bowl. The spicy chicken rice dish was good, with very tender and flavoursome meat, and just moderately spicy. Food served hot, leaves you full and at a price point of average $5? Always a winner. continue reading

Whenever korean food is being mentioned, the first thing that came to mind was, kimchi. But it was quite a disappointment when the food stalls in Singapore totally neglected the point when it comes to kimchi, giving only a pathetic bit of it. Guess i would have to go to an authentic korean restaurant to satisfy my kimchi cravings. That aside, the food offered at this stall is quite value for money. The whole hot plate is filled up with chicken and onions, and the portion is enough to serve 2 i would say. Meat is tender and nicely marinated, just that it is super smoky when first served, and a bit too oily. continue reading

My friend and I ordered our lunch from this Korean stall before heading to the Jurong Regional Library. The menu is quite confusing. I wanted to order spicy pork rice and my friend wanted to order spicy chicken rice. However, the auntie tending the stall keep getting mixed up and thought we wanted spicy chicken mix spicy pork rice. I also didn't notice that my set doesn't come with the Kimchi and ikan bilis. Luckily my friend gave me hers. Food wise, I like it very much. Worth the price as the rice is steamy hot and the spicy pork tender with lots of onions. The quantity of pork for my set is just nice as it did not filled up the whole hot plate but only half of it whereby the rice occupied the other half. continue reading
