Ordered 2 dishes and get a free soup with OCBC credit card. Real neat! Luv free stuff!Cost me about $33 for a meal for 2 for all these, which included the signature steamed chicken, sweet potato leaves and of coz the free soup.Simply adored the garlic sauce which completed the yummy steamed chicken. This was probably the only time that I will eat ginger, in big spoonful! continue reading

Soup restaurant is never a let down when it comes to taste especially the mouth watering samsui chicken~ I am so in love with the samsui chicken. The chicken is so well cooked and it goes really well with the ginger. The ginger has a very nice aroma and i really love it. I have not eaten something comparable to this taste thus far. A piece of the veg, a piece of the chicken and lotsa ginger= yummylicious! Other than the loved samsui chicked we ordered dishes like the claypot brinjal and a spicy tofu, i can't remember exactly what is the name of this dishees ( i guess all my eyes are on the chicken) but the tofu was quite delcious too. The sauce of the brinjal goes really well with rice too. I cant comment much about the brinjal coz i did not eat that but my mum enjoys eating that so it should be delicious as well! continue reading

It has been a while since I last eaten dishes from Soup restaurant. Tonight I've decided to buy their famous Samsui Ginger chicken for dinner.Samsui Ginger chicken $15.90++This is what draws the crowd to queue up daily at their various outlets. The must order dish. Smooth and tender freshly boiled white chicken meat paired with the 'secret recipe' mince ginger dip. The dip is the soul of this dish...extremely fragrant, instantly spiced up the bland tasting chicken meat...yum yum.Yang Chow fried rice $9.90++This dish has the home cooked (家常) flavor...like mom's fried rice. It has rather generous serving of chinese sausage bits, prawn meat and chopped cai xin stems...a combi that can't be found elsewhere...nice!I will be back! continue reading

Decided to give it a tried with colleagues. The dish they're most famous for is the Samsui Chicken. Of course we ordered that, and that definitely was the best dish at my table. I like the fact that the meat was soft and tender and the dish was not oily. Not even the skin. The skin has this smooth texture and feels very nice in your mouth because the dish isn't oily. The dish comes with this ginger sauce made by the restaurant which enhances the taste of the wonderful chicken. Another good dish would be the Hometown Tofu. The Tofu is slightly fried and so the skin on the outside is slightly crispy but when you put it in your mouth, the white soft Tofu literally melts in your mouth. I really like that. Plus the Tofu is complemented by this soyasauce-like gravy which is very tasty. It's somewhat like eating Agedashi Tofu. On the whole, I enjoyed my meal but there is one dish that I feel is not very worth the money and that is the Dong Po Rou. It was just 4 pathetic rolls of meat with 4 small fried buns, and it tasted very ordinary. like our home-cooked black soyasource port, only too sweet. Overall, the food was average. continue reading
