THE FOOD:

The latest kid on the block offers four basic flavours for its fro-yo, shaved ice and smoothies: original or plain, pinkilicious strawberry, melon mint and green tea. The smallest cup of its tart yogurt with subtle flavourings range from SGD3.50 to SGD4. Compared to Yami, it is more tart but less creamy, and with Frolick, it is more firm but less natural in its flavours.

Pre-mixed selections are available but, like at other fro-yo offerings on our sunny island, you can also mix and match toppings like mango, kiwi, almonds, chocolate balls and many more. The little cubes of mochi and nata de coco with the exotic melon mint intertwined with plain yogurt are our personal favourites and go well with the fruity yogurts.

THE MOOD:

A worthy opponent for bright and funky Frolick, Sour Sally eludes a whimiscally charming and cheery mood. Its interactive website, created by Kinetic Singapore, is just as fun too. Its outlet at Wisma Atria is decked in black and lime green and hard to miss, so give it a try!

Sour Sally Fro-Yo is a newly opened US Premium non-fat frozen yogurt chain at Wisma Atria B1 in December. Being curious about how this would stand out against the other fro-yo competitors like Yami Yogurt, Red Mango etc, I decided to try 1 for myself.

They are currently having a promotion with Citbank credit cards - 10% off the bill with no minimum spending. Not sure when will the promotion end though. Their menu is quite extensive, with 4 different flavours of frozen yogurt and combo sets for 1 or 2 toppings so you can save if you want to add toppings such as mochi, nata de coco or different types of fruits.

I selected the melon mint flavoured yogurt and added 1 topping - mochi ($4.25 after 10% discount). The melon mint flavour was quite refreshing as it had a lot of mint taste mixed with some melon flavouring. The little cubes of mochi were very chewy and it felt as if I was chewing gum together with my smoothly-textured yogurt. The server was quite generous with the topping too.

I guess my money was pretty well spent & I would return to try other flavours & toppings next time.
