Crispy Tiger Prawn Glazed with Citrus Cream on Grape Salsa - $14

One of my favorite definitely! I love the crispiness on the outside, and spongy texture on the inside. A pity that the serving was so little... Just one for each.

Steamed Fillet of Ocean Cod - $10

This was originally served with rice wine and red chilli sauce. We explained to the staff that we dun take spicy food and he helped us to change to mushroom and truffle sauce, no additional charge! The cod fish and the sauce complement each other ~ Sweetness.. Loved it!

Crispy Spiced Kurobata Pork Ribs in Sun-dried Tomanto Reduction - $14

I remembered having similiar dish at my fren's ROM at Humble House, so it was a must to order for me. It tasted like spared pork ribs served in a western manner ~ fusion indeed. Again, we had no complains for this dish...

Double Boiled Seafood Consomme in Young Coconut

This was fantastic! The soup was filled with goodies like scallops, prawns, mushrooms etc, and it was concentrated sweetness.. And there was still young coconut meat, which remained soft and tender. Must try, if you adore soups..

Wild Berries Lemongrass Gelo with Lime Sorbet - $8

This was basically ice jelly. Refreshing, a nice touch to wrap up our sumptuous lunch!

The portion are all meant for 1 pax. We ordered more variety to share, rather than have the same dish served in 2 portions. I think that is probably more econmical, looking at the price range. But since we had the voucher, so we boldly made our order! Keke

I loved most of my orders in terms of taste and presentation. It was really a work of art, with a hefty price though... I will definitely come again, at least to have the soup and the prawn, just to satisfy a little craving.. =p

I don't usually fancy very sweet dessert but for this, the sweetness is just nice, not too sweet not bland. The coconut ice is very flavorful and I won't be surprise if it is made by the chef from scratch. Blending very well with the purple Japanese tapioca cream, the dish marks a perfect ending of the meal that day. Excellent!

Although I usually order the Laksa, I decided to opt for the Claypot Beef Rice ($14) as I was feeling abit more peckish and also had some of the Rock and Roll salad ($14) to share.

While the Rock and Roll salad was delicious, especially the tangy Asian-style dressing which was light yet flavourful, the Beef rice failed to impress as it came in a much too small for its price portion and was nothing spectacular.

The salad came with generous portions of chicken, caramelized walnuts, raisins and garden vegetables and drizzled with a tangy and light dressing that made it even more enjoyable. Highly recommend trying this although the price is pretty steep.

The rice set came with white rice topped with some coriander and fried shallots whilst the beef was braised in sauce. Although the toppings on the rice was a nice touch, the claypot beef came in a very small serving and did not impress in terms of flavor. Would not order this again.

My friend ordered the clay-pot rice in consommé (something like mui fan). It consist of tofu, seaweed, egg, shrimp and crabmeat. It is tantalizing and suitable for people who dislike porridge but would prefer light something light on the stomach. This bowl of mui fan is much more worthwhile, though it also cost $12.

For our side dish, we ordered tofu coated with seaweed. Crispy tofu and a touch of salt and pork floss - good combination that send your taste buds jumping for joy! This side dish is cheaper at price of $8

Ambience
I love the ambience here! It's quiet, and their special decor of the restaurant lighted up your mood and boost your appetite as you laid back, enjoying the tranquility while waiting for your food to come.

Service
Their service is generally good, though I dont really like the uniform of the waitress. It's kinda distracting when a waitress with 'spare tyre' revealed hers.
Their uniform are designed in such a way that their belly buttons can be seen.

Price
The pricing is average, accounting for the fact that it is situated in Esplanade, a tourist area. However, it'd be wise to order food that are commonly seen in normal food courts/coffeshops.

The one on the right was fresh crab meat in jelly and was mildly sweet and mildly spicy. Although these two dishes had mild spices added to it, the flavor was very strong and impactful. Other dishes included sauteed prawns, scallop with longevity noodles, freshly steamed fish and dessert was jelly in almond paste. The ambience there was really great and with a great view over the night sky of Singapore, it is definitely a great place to bring your loved ones out for a dinner treat! Just be prepared to spend a little more. Heard that they have a promotion with the American Express Platinum card which gives you 50% off the bill till the end of February 2013!

Tapas platter ($18) is a good try, where you get to sample a variety of dishes in one go. I love the prawn cake, fresh and crunchy prawn filled in the beancurd sheet before deep-fried. One set back about the platter would be the deep-fried lotus roots. They are not crispy as expected.

I've been wanting to try this restaurant for the longest time. My Humble House can be considered the most high-end restaurant under the Tung Lok Group, serving modern Cantonese cuisine. While the prices are somewhat "cha-ching" and portions miniscule (each dish is really only meant for one person so you'll have to order multiples of every dish according to the number of diners).

If I really had to whine, it would be about the freezing temperatures, our piping hot food turned cold in minutes and I was shivering the entire time. We had to keep topping up our hot teas and downing it just so stay barely warm.

We ate:

1) Dance of the Wind ($18), a double-boiled seafood consomme in young coconut is an absolute must-try here. The soup was intensely flavoured with the richness of the scallops and prawns and the sweetness of the wolfberries but still delicate, with spinach grounding the soup in its characteristic metallic elements.

2) Velvet Memories ($18) - velvety braised fish maw and mushroom in shark's cartilage broth. This was silky, and so flavoursome and rich, but still balanced. I liked that this didn't leave a yucky milky film on the tongue.Loved the spongy bamboo pith

3) Beckoning of Blossoms ($16) - a crispy boneless sakura chicken marinated with "mao tai" wine, best part of this dish was the sweetish chutney-like sauce

4) Dusk, Twilight & Perhaps Stars ($8) - our least favourite dish. We really didn't take to the old tofu, with its airy, sponge-like texture. I suppose the texture was designed to soak up the roasted garlic infused superlative chicken broth, lightly accented with crisp-fried conpoy and shimeiji mushrooms

5) Heart of Soul ($12) braised bai ling mushrooms, smooth as silk, in a thick black truffle jus with sauteed spinach. Best dish of the meal, hands down

6) In the Heart of Gold Fever ($8) crisp-fried soft and sweet pumpkin glazed with salted egg yolk and baby snow pea tempura, makes for a fantastic snack. I so need to learn how to make this at home.

7) From the Earth, Sea & Heart ($22) fleshy marble goby fillet simmered in winter black truffle jus, chunked up with chopped mushrooms and layered on a bed of spinach

The chairs there are really unique and I think that it make the meal more enjoyable. Eating in a quiet place as compared to a crowded and noisy place. I choose the quiet place. As for lunch. each of us ordered a set meal which costed $60 per meal/person. The meal contained many dishes such as appetizers, main dishes and I stress dishes, and of course, dessert. When we came to the fourth dish, all of us were already feeling full, especially my brother and I, being small eaters.

These are the food included in the meal:

Was staying in nearby Conrad for the weekend but didn't fancy anything too elaborate for dinner so settled for a quick meal at Space @ My Humble House at the Esplanade.

Playing neighbour to it's more illustrious sibling, My Humble House (which by the way didn't quite impress me on my previous visit), Space has a nice modern, minimalistic vibe to it - definitely not some place you would expect to find local favourites like chicken rice, hokkien mee and the likes. But at a premium of course.

Mama Leong's Chicken Rice - Apparently this humble dish was named after Sam Leong's mum. And I thought it was good - tender, moist and seeping with flavour. You have the option of ordering an entire chicken ($32), half a chicken ($18) and single portion @ $12. Rice is an additional $1/head and though fragrant and seemingly prudent with the oil, lacked the fluffiness that I would have liked.

Fried Radish Cake with Freshly-peeled Crabmeat, Whole Prawns, Juicy Scallops and Egg - I loved the extravagance of this dish - huge prawns and scallops coupled with copious amount of egg. However it lacked the slightly charred taste and came across as bland. Somehow everything just didn't seem to meld together. The radish cake wasn't exactly smooth and silky either.

A quick meal of local dishes cost us to the tune of $48 (inclusive of a small cup of watermleon juice @ $6). The chicken rice was good but the radish cake only made it to average based on the merit of the prawns and scallops; without which, it would have languished at the bottom half of the scale. Service was decent but hardly a selling point.

Bite into the spoonful of rice with soup, and feel the crispiness of the chicken rice. The peking duck was average. The texture and meat quality seems average. Overall, the food was average.
