If you are looking for a taste of Hong Kong, Streats Cafe is a good place to start out. Streats Hong Kong Cafe promises to deliver in terms of their food and ambience. Of course, the restaurant also serves Western cuisines to meet the taste buds of a wider customer base.Anyway I was there with my friend and we ordered quite a number of items. For a mixture of fried and more soupy stuff, we ordered the Fried Coriander Wings, Shrimp Dumpling Noodle Soup and Yang Zhou Fried Rice. I am not for the soupy stuff so i did not try the shrimp dumpling noodle soup much. The Fried Coriander Wings is wonderfully fried and crispy. Love it though it did involve me using my hands to eat. The same goes for the Yang Zhou Fried Rice which came with quite a number of ingredients, compared to other restaurants that literally serves fried rice with eggs. Not too bad and i would definitely return for more! continue reading

My first visit to Streats Hong Kong Cafe was several years ago and my favourite from this restaurant was always the curry chicken with bread. However, standards have dropped down the years and I haven't been visiting it for awhile. So not long ago my buddy and I decided to give it a go again. We ordered the Chicken Chop Fried Rice to share. Most of the food here are priced reasonably below $12 and I believe this was around $8-9. However, I wasn't impressed by its portion, neither was the taste distinctive enough to make me like it. It only reminded me of something I can easily whip up at home considering that I'm not really a good cook. Then we had the Fried Carrot Cake, this wasn't a disappointment because it actually tasted really yummy! However, it's quite different compared to the usual carrot cake we can get at hawker centres or food court, there's no egg and it's kind of spicy for people who can't take spicy food. Would be better if they place the chilli separately for diners to mix on their own. Other than that, it's not bad. Overall, we still are not sure whether we would return again, as standards still are not matching up to my first impression of this place many years ago. Although they do have new installations of televisions and better service, there's more to the restaurant than just pure ambience and service as long as menu is concerned. continue reading

Shanghai Chicken Dumpling - pretty good Shrimp Roll -super oily!Seafood XO Noodle - can't really taste the XO sauceFish & Chips - portion for fish slightly small & egg yoke slightly over-cooked continue reading

Streats Hong Kong Cafe is certified Halal and offers a wide variety of Hong Kong and Chinesecuisine. They also have western cuisine for you to choose. Super friendly staff and helpful.I prefer to jump into this cafe during the weekdays because weekends will be too crowded. Here are my ordersIt's a usual American breakfast. Nothing special. My younger cousin loves it. O'lala... I love this one. The sweet and sour sauce is tasty, not too sweet and not too sour, just nice. The chicken meats are tender. The sunny upside is nicely sitting on top of therice beautifully. My Aunt loves it but I find the soup is a little bland and plain. Only You mian and Dumplingswith vegetables.Other side dishes: The chicken meats are tender on the inside and crispy on the outside.Presentation is a bit weird but tastes nice.Stir fried six treasures consist of six vegetables-Lotus roots, young corns, carrots, brocolli, rice straw mushrooms and celery. Not recommended.Might not return again as it is not worth the price. continue reading
