The $1 promo for a new opening outlet is one of the reasons why some of us, like me love sushi express so much.. we look out for where the new outlets are opening, and check out their facebook to see when the $1 promo starts, which in this case was 3-5th december. Fret not, even after the promo, the sushi plates are still priced at $1.60++ a plate!So.. So.. I've always been a huge fan of conveyor belt, 100jpy/$1 sushi.. and today was the opening promotion for the Seletar Mall sushi express. Located on the second floor, behind the escalator, the restaurant has a strange layout, in which they fully maximize the shop space with every seat facing the conveyor belt. It might look a bit claustrophobic, as I had initially thought it was.. but after awhile, you are so consumed by the sushi going around you, that you completely forget that the shoulder of the next person beside you is literally inches away from you.
Nonetheless, the sushi was fresh! Thick salmon sashimi slices, ikura gunkan, jellyfish, you name it! To be honest, I haven't really had a lot of experience with high end sushi, but hey,.. if the sashimi melts in your mouth like it did when I was in Japan, it works for me too!
Smoked salmon was an interesting find here I really enjoyed the smoked salmon, it was fresh I really liked the sweet shishamo fish, can't tell if it came out of a can or not, but hey.. 3 pieces of pregnant fish for $1++ works for me it's kinda sweet, so hot green tea came in handy!
Green tea is free, unlike nihon mura .. so.. wash down all that omega 3, protein fish with hot green tea, the hot water dispenser is available every 2 or 3 seats, so you're never more than an arms' length away from getting hot water.
Desserts, there's a variety of desserts, like pudding, cheesecake, cream puffs, chocolate cakes, mochi.. and even collagen jelly packet drinks! I didn't have stomach space to try their desserts, but definitely wanted to try their pudding in the cup, which had what looked like blueberry jam on top of the pudding.. or maybe it was yogurt? I don't know, it was readily available, I watched it circle the conveyor belt once, and it was never replenished, but I was also too distracted looking at salmon slices floating around too..
