The swensens chain has been around for so many years... It has withstood the times of inflation and yet still manages to keep the typical Singaporean crowd happy with their icecream! My colleagues and I decided to give it a try for lunch, they have a promotion whereby.. Any main course comes with either a free side, sundae or drink. I have a sweet tooth and ordering a $16.90++ lobster roll comes with a free $10.90++ chocolate sundae? :) can't say no to free food!!! the wait for the food was negligible but the wait for the dessert took a disappointing 20 minutes making my colleagues wishing we had already paid and left. To me, a birthday is kind of not complete if there's no cake. Usually if i'm the organizer, I will surely include a cake =) If you are getting sick of the usual cake, i'm sure ice cream cake will appeal to all regardless of young and old! I will think of Swensen's first whenever i need an ice cream cake. I don't have a particular favorite, will just pick something that i like on that day. I came to this outlet at Nex as I had two meal vouchers to redeem - a choice of chicken salad or aglio olio sphaghetti, plus a scoop of ice cream.Once I sat down (I was earlier than my hubby), the wait staff served me promptly and asked if I wanted iced or warm water without any prompting or indication from my part - good service :)The chicken salad came in a large bowl with a good mix of fresh vegetables. I especially liked the pine nuts given. The chicken slices were rather tasty too. The salad fork they gave was very huge though, I find it too unwieldy. It's good that the thousand island sauce was given on the side so you can choose how much you want to put inside your salad. Definitely a healthy meal. You'll be pretty full too if you finish the whole bowl of salad.- Chicken saladThe aglio olio looked simple but it tasted really good. The spaghetti was cooked till al dente and plenty of olive oil and garlic was used to sautee the noodles with the mushrooms. The flavoring was also done well. I enjoyed this simple but well-cooked dish.- Aglio OlioThe sticky chewy chocolate was quite nice although it seemed to be a bit different based on what I tasted a long time ago. The chocolate seemed slightly more "artificial". Or perhaps my taste buds are now more stringent...LOLI do not particularly like the color of the lime ice cream but taste-wise, it's still alright. Had my lunch in this Swensen's outlet at Nex. The restaurant environment is quite cooling and spacious, services are also quite friendly too. Have bought the Salmon 'N' Mushroom pasta. At seventeen dollars, this is quite delicious and portion is also quite generous. The pasta is quite chewy and not really that soggy. The cream sauce is very fragrant and quite thick in texture as well. The sliced salmon fish is very fresh and soft. Would consider to come back again to try other pasta dishes. …查看更多

Today's dinner menu...Breaded Chicken $15.50++Deep fried breaded chicken chop served with coleslaw and french fries. I ordered the grilled fish sambal while my partner ordered some beef burger (I think). I really love sambal so I had to order this! FFish fillet with sambal chilli served with mashed potatos and vegetables (changes every time I order). Sambal sauce went really well with the fish that was more on the bland side so it complemented the fish really well. I do notice that the portion of the fish was downsized though, not quite worth the money anymore. Sambal chilli is also on the salty side but still tasty. The pasta not only has the crayfish as main ingredient, it has added a lot of other ingredients too, such as crabsticks, fish fillet, mushrooms and so on. The crayfish that were served were fried and very fresh with quite a lot meat. The fish fillet were big and nice. Nowadays the highlight of our visit to any Swensens Restaurants is not their ice cream sundaes which built its reputation, but for the food. Huh? Granted that Swensens' food items are sometimes hit and miss, such as their baked rice and some entrees like steaks. However they do a good job with their appetizers, pizzas and pastas. We stuck to the safe bets on our recent visit and had a satisfying meal, with no room left for their sundaes.The crispy vegetable fritters $5.90++ were excellent. Lots of shredded vegetables and thinly sliced shitake mushroom bound together by a light tempura batter, moulded into square shaped cakes and deepfried quickly into crispy fritters. Rabbit food never looked and tasted this good. The fritters were served with a tangy dip that tasted like a blend if 1000 island dressing and BBQ sauce but the fritters were tasty enough to be eaten on their own without any sauce.These were surprisingly filling too.The BBQ Chicken Pizza $14.90++ for 9" was another entree that's good for sharing. Crunchy biscuit base topped with chicken chunks, diced bell peppers and onions, topped by mozarella and BBQ sauce. The pizza is cut into quarters when served so it can be shared by 2-4 people if other items are ordered.It is nice to be given a carafe of iced water for us to help ourselves as we pleased, so we did not have to order drinks from the menu. I have craving for ice cream so decided to dine at Swensen. After browsing the food menu, I chosen the Crayfish pasta for mains. This dish is quite nice, it has two halves of crayfish, fish nuggets, crabsticks and mushrooms cooked in tomato sauce. For dessert, I picked my usual Chocolate crunch ice cream. I'm frequenting Swensens too often, now that I have their loyalty card. Went there for a light lunch so I decided to get their soup bowl which turned out to be really filling! :( I barely finished the soup, let alone the bread bowl. Came here to try their desserts. Had The Rock, Banana Split and the birthday sundae(?).. (can't really remember the name of the birthday dessert) They have many different flavours of ice-cream to choose from. Their desserts are not bad but not a must try. Had a swensens voucher for fish and chips set with icecream. So, since we happened to be in NEX, decided to give it a try. Service was good and fast. I went with my friend for swensen!! One of my friend was late and the waiter didn't really happy about it.Later on, we order four baked rice.Two of my friends ate chicken baked rice which they enjoy it. The chicken was nice.Another friend ate beef baked rice. The beef was nicely cooked with the rice.I ate fish baked rice and it is really nice. It is so cheesy.
