What usually comes to mind when one mentions the name of this All-American chain restaurant here, ice cream? i don't know about you, but since young I have always enjoyed their delicious Fish & Chips with the firm dory flesh that doesnt fall apart at knifepoint, or the absolutely scrumptious Crayfish Pasta.Today, however, I would like to mention my absolute favorite here - the Salmon and Mushroom Baked Rice (SGD$12.90).So how this dish is formed is, a delicious brown mushroom sauce and cheese are slathered generously over over an eye-shaped bowl of egg-mushroom fried rice. Then it is set to bake, along with the salmon. It may be a simple dish, but the flavor is absolute.The rice is not just plain rice, but its fried with egg, button mushroom and I believe there's garlic as well. The tasty brown sauce is thick, and comes with generous slivers of shiitake mushrooms, thus adding bounce to the entire dish. Once bitten twice shy. A lesson was learned last year when I tried to order a Christmast Log Cake from Swensen or any other places at the eleventh hour. Everywhere had its log cake reserved or sold out and this year I did the reservation a few weeks earlier and it was all worth the effort.Ordered the Santa's Cookies Summit which was inpsired by the cookies submit sundae. Visited Swensen's again! My buddy decide that he'll treat this time so I went ahead and ordered a good looking Juicy Game Hen with Homemade BBQ Sauce ($16.90), which was more than amazing! The succulent young game hen was fried and roasted for a perfectly golden brown skin, with tender juicy flesh enough to easily be separately from the bone! The BBQ sauce was very flavourful as well, such that there's I dipped the fries with those instead of my usual ketchup. My buddy ordered another attractive dish, the Crispy Cornflake Chicken ($15.50). Some tender succulent moist boneless chicken is hiding behind the crispy coat of crunchy golden cornflakes. Every bite was full of flavour and texture, simply irresistible! We also got ourselves The Rock ($9.50) to share! It comes with 3 signature flavours of hazelnut, cookies & cream and rocky road, garnished beautifully with marshmallow sauce, hot caramel, cocoa pops and wafers. Lamb chop 18.50: The lamb chop eat is too tough and salty. The standard has dropped greatly. The meat is also quite dry and it used to be juicy but now it has changed. The mash potato is still acceptable and is a bit moist. The vegetable is a bit undercooked.Pesto salmon sauce 16.90: The salmon is quite dry. It feels like it is overgrilled or the quality is not fresh enough as it is a bit hard. The mushroom sauce that comes separate is rather thick and it is not hot. i was attracted to the really attractive food picture of the beef patty with melted cheese that oozes out. It was also priced affordably at $17.90. The beef was quite a disappointment as there was no cheese oozing out and the cheese was only concentrated in the very middle. The onion rings were crispy and the fries were normal-tasting. Salad was well-dressed. King prawns were big and crispy too. Spiced maple chicken waffle $14.904 pieces of fried chicken stacked on top of a waffle. the chicken were quite oily and they could have given more maple syrup. I really love Swensen's cakes because I love ice-cream and they sell awesome ice-cream cakes! I got a chocolate ice-cream cake for a birthday occasion and I loved it! Bought this ice cream cake for my baby nephew first years old birthday. It is really colourful so it really make the birthday boy very excited once he sees it. This cake is totally make of one hundred percent of chocolate and vanilla flavours ice cream and with some nice fresh whip cream on it.
