I saw Take 5 offering a wider selection of food, besides the usual paus, you tiaos, hum jin pengs and butterfly buns, the stall also offers meals like Laksa and Sambal Fish Rice.Curious, i ordered the Sambal Fish Rice ($4.90) and had to wait a while as the food is cooked uppn ordering. I think i waited for like 10 minutes or so. Anyway the food is packed nicely in a container with nicely segregated portions for the fish and rice. This is quite helpful compared to if the fish and rice are lumped together. Anyway, i went home and left it for 30 minutes or so before i eat it. It was still quite lukewarm and the fish still retained its fried exterior. Initially i was overhwlemed by a sour taste, but i realise as long as i remove the sambal on top, leaving its residue, the taste is much more subsided and nicer to eat. That said, the sambal sauce is more tangy than spicy. The fish is nicely cooked, didn't have any fishy taste, was easy to chew and so i had say its quite a pleasant meal on the whole. Though the rice is a little hard, its still palatable. They provided achar (pickled vegetables) at the bottom which was refreshing cause they are crunchy compared to the fish, which is just fish. But i think they need to pickle it longer cause when i eat some of the cucumbers, it was quite hard to chew off.I had be interested to try their other dishes, like the Laksa.Read More
