I was craving for a high tea buffet and ended up in an impromptu visit to Tea Lounge. The price was a 'mental barrier' to overcome, and I sort of hypnotized myself that the price was totally justifiable as an afternoon tea buffet simply means 3 in 1 aka 3 meals taken together! It was a 'fantasy land' filled with macaroon, pralines, cakes, waffles, pancakes, ice-cream, fondue! I was so tempted by the desserts that I simply ignored the sequence and just ate the sweets between savories. =p

Well if you are not a sweet tooth person, there's plentiful of savories items as well!

The buffet also includes 2 choices of tea, coffee or chocolate. Not bad right?

I had a good time stuffing myself silly here. Although the price is not an everyday affair, it's a good place for occasionally pamper time. So go on, pamper yourself. You deserve it! =)

So, besides providing a luxurious ambience and elegant, tasteful setting complete with polished marble floors and ornate furniture, Tea Lounge also offers a wide selection of delectable-looking items for the high tea session. After ordering my Shanghai Rose tea, it was time for us to check out the buffet counters.

There were many different stations serving different food such as salads, cheeses, sushi and smoked salmon, roast meat and desserts. We were spoilt for choice.

I began to dig in, beginning with a modest selection of Chicken Pie, Fig & Walnut Tart, Mini Sandwich with Smoked Salmon, Mini Sandwich with Shrimp and a slice of Mushroom Quiche. Everything was dainty and tasty - but I thought that the Fig & Walnut tart had kind of an acquired taste, a heavy "woody" flavor.

My next indulgence was a platter of Chicken Barley Salad, Scottish Smoked Salmon, Smoked Tuna, cheese, fruits, crackers and caviar. I loved the Scottish Smoked Salmon the best - unlike the usual smoked salmon which was salty and dry, this was succulent, bouncy and had a sashimi texture.

Finally, the sweets. Ok, but first, see the Shanghai Rose Tea? This is an absolute darling - fragrance of roses infused with the aroma of lychee.

Desserts consisted of Raspberry de pate, slice of chocolate cake, brownie on ice cream stick, macarons, marshmallow with hot fudge sauce and Panna Cotta on the side. I absolutely enjoyed the Brownie-on ice cream stick - what a unique concept , the sweet, crusty pastry mounted on a stick.

The open-concept lounge is located at the lobby level of the hotel. The bookshelves filled with literature and art pieces make this feel like a cosy living room. The wooden furnishings and warm lighting exude an old English vintage grandeur. Certainly a lovely setting for relaxing over tea with family and friends.

The high tea buffet includes free flow serving of freshly brewed coffee, fine tea selections and hot/cold chocolate.

Tea Lounge is famous for its English scones and clotted cream but I beg to differ. I have rather high expectations for scones after having tasted really good ones in England so unfortunately, these scones have not quite made their mark for being fluffy and moist inside. And their clotted cream is also no where near Rodda’s which is commonly sold in UK. But if I were to compare with other scones I have had in Singapore, these would probably be the best among all. Well, at least they know how to pair them with clotted cream and jam!

Anyway, despite the scones being unexciting which is not a big loss to me, I’m thrilled with what the rest of the buffet has to offer. Savoury sandwiches, refreshing appetisers & salads, caviar, delicious pate, smoked salmon & sushi, carving station, Asian corner, quiche & pot pie, cheese board, huge array of lovely desserts, gelato & freshly made crepes & waffles and dainty cookies. Did I miss out any? There’s just so much food, I don’t think I even manage to try every single bit of them!

Some notable items that I went back for seconds and thirds include the seafood salad with the freshiest scallops and crunchiest prawns ever, the ‘unsightly yet most delightful’ duck rilette with melba toast and the always-popular smoked salmon. Simply scrumptious!

The Avruga caviar looks luxurious but it’s not really my cup of tea. Except for being salty, salty and just salty if you just eat it on its own, there’s really no other flavours to boast of. Neither does it enhance any other dishes because it just leaves you a briny aftertaste on the tongue. It’s probably an acquired taste. Either you love it, or you hate it.

The cheese board is worth mentioning. The Wensleydale cheese with cranberries rocks. I don’t really like strong cheeses so this is a real delight for me with a mildly sweet taste from the cranberries. The smoked cheddar is quite a hit too.

There is also a live station producing piping hot souffle and crepes on request. Everybody loved the chili crab seafood gravy with fried mantou dish...we had repeated servings of that! Desserts were nice to look at but doesn't taste as good as it looks...my lavender macaroon tasted like...air freshener!

Service was mostly ok, they were slow at times during busy hours but were very friendly and polite. Nothing much to complain about. Prices was on the high side but worth visiting at least once to try out their signature dishes.

Restaurant is comfortable and service is very good and prompt! Price is at $48++ per person... super expensive!

Tea Lounge by Regent Hotel has always been one of my favourite places for afternoon tea. I can’t remember all the wonderful sessions I had but it sure was kind of the staffs at Regent to invite me back to try out their improved afternoon tea buffet.

Do note that their afternoon tea buffets are only available on the weekends while their popular English high tea and their three-tier stands are intricately prepared on weekdays. I strongly recommend that you make reservations many months before the actual date, especially their weekend high tea buffets just to play safe and secure a place.

Tucked away from the grandeur lobby, Tea Lounge is sure to be found. Fanciful desserts and savoury treats all waiting dished out by pastry chefs and only to be enjoyed by people who loves them. Arm chairs and sofas by the tables with tea sets already in place and be ready to be greeted by a smile or two on the staff face!

I like to start my afternoon with something to sip and I love the floral muscatel touch of the Regent Blend. If you’re someone like me, who loves trying out something new on every visit then feel free to do so! May I also suggest their Shanghai Rose with a hinge of lychee sweetness to you? Or just stick to the class Imperial Earl Grey which worked more than just words could describe.

You see stations of desserts and all things sweet on one side, heavy dishes and whatsoever Japanese on the other and savoury finger food like your sandwiches and cheese in between. You can have it his way or her way but I like to start MY WAY, which always mean I’ll say “Desserts come first!”

Scones are a must have for me in any afternoon tea. I mean what is afternoon tea without something buttery to spread my clotted cream upon?

I always held in esteem of Tea Lounge’s renditions. I was a little disappointed about my previous experience with them and I walked away that very day feeling baffled as to why. Did something bad happen in the kitchen that day? I really don’t know. All I know was their scones weren’t quite the same as I used to had.

Good things are almost always worth a second chance and I very happy to say Regent’s scones are still the best! It’s little wonder why good things often come in pair. Just pair awesome scones with dollops of good quality clotted cream and I bet you will make rooms for more!

I think I will let the photos do the talking instead. After all, pictures are more than just a thousand words especially if we are talking about desserts!

Everything would have turn out great if only their Creme Brulee weren’t as much of overly burned sugar glaze but I believe there’s always room for improvements. The assorted macarons were great the best was their Vanilla & Winter Berry Panna Cotta which I couldn’t stopped singing praises to it. I am fine with or without good service but I can always appreciate a smile on the servers’ face and that is something I always see on their faces.

I was told that I would always make a request on certain dishes if I ever make another reservations and that is definitely a plus! So enough sharing and enough commenting. Will I recommend to my friends Tea Lounge’s new and improved weekend high tea buffet? Definitely I will and I know some of my friends and tea partners alike would be keen to have tea sometimes…

I'm not usually a fan of buffet, where the pressure to stretch beyond your usual capacity is unavoidable so as to justify the high cost per pax. The Tea Lounge, tucked at the end of the ground floor by a stretch of full-length windows, was a vision of contemporary cum elegant, English-library look. The choice of the sofa seating to promote cozy, intimate gatherings or the sit-down dining setting for ease of polishing off the spread offered customers options on their preferences to spend a luxurious afternoon there. Live piano music in the background enhanced the ambience further.

The spread wasn't extensively grand but there were a couple of interesting selections that differentiated themselves from the plethora of similar versions in the market. I especially favoured the Scallops and Seared Tuna salad, which was a fantastic starter. The Duck Pate and Caviar made for savoury bites on thin, crisp bread slices.

What is a High Tea Buffet without the cakes, pastries and desserts? This one covered some of the regular favourites. A Waffle and Crepe station was also on stand-by should more carbs be craved. As a Macaron fiend, I was delighted to spot them in their jewelled colours and knew I would wallow in self-regret if I didn't try all of them. The citrusy Lemon was my most-loved and was a decision echoed across our table. Another pet choice was The Dark Chocolate Truffles that possessed bitter and rich depth. Everything was drenched down with sips of hot Rose Bud tea to lift all that sweetness....and possibly, aid digestion at the same time.

Now, will I come back again? I seriously doubt so - a decision primarily due to the lack of choices that resulted in this being an extremely exorbitant tea session. I have to admit though, the environment was perfect for weekend languidness and lazing, along with pals or families. Service was excellent as well, with empty plates cleared and teapots filled in a timely fashion. It was indeed a great way to bust the stress of the earlier work week, even though I will now have to incorporate high intensity cardio exercises in the next one to work off the expanded waistline! *Burp*

I went to the regent hotel for high tea buffet with my girlfriend. We were celebrating our anniversary. The buffet was great, the spread was quite ok. My favourite was philip’s truffles. It was not too sweet, but very rich and satisfying. My girlfriend loves the chocolate fudge cake, she says it is very moist and soft and the fudge is really rich. I was lucky they had weekend buffet or else I have to take leave as this buffet is one not to be missed!
