For the full review and more photos, please visit http://makanarts.com/2014/03/29/teneleven-cupcakes-far-east-plaza/Opened since April last year, TenEleven Cupcakes is a small takeaway kiosk with a small counter that can seat 2 people that is located at the basement of Far East Plaza.Order the Banana cupcake ($3.50) if you like bananas as the batter for the cupcake is made of bananas, topped with banana cream and a slice of banana. I felt this is rather ordinary and tasted normal. The Chocolate Peanut Butter ($3.80) cupcake fares better than the Banana (a personal preference) as this tasted more rich than the latter. The chocolate cupcake slightly lacks in flavour, but is quickly replenished for by the toppings of peanut cream, chocolate cream and bits of peanuts, making the whole cupcake taste rich and sweet. If you are looking for a sweet bite near the Orchard area, look for this hidden spot! continue reading

The cake was quite crumbly and very dry; the texture resembled more like a muffin. Taste-wise, it's average but what puts me off is the texture of the cupcake. It would have been tastier if the cupcake was moist and not crumbly. The frosting above did not help to complement the cupcake well as a whole. Overall, I don't think this Keylime flavour is worth a try. continue reading

At the basement of Far East Plaza, there is this outlet hidden by other shoe shops. There is various flavours of cupcakes which looks so tempting that I can't wait to try out.Flavours of the cupcakes for the day are all written on the board. I have bought 6 cupcakes from an online deal website for $9 to try out.Keylime is part of the Old Time Favourite Options. While the rest of the cupcakes are under Premium Flavour Options and there is additional charge of 30 cents for them. Quite cute decorated with the slice of lime on top.Banoffee : it tastes a rather dry banana cake, not what I am expecting from a banoffee pie.The Matcha cupcake has quite strong green tea taste, but is a bit too buttery for me.The Carrot & Walnut cupcake tastes not bad too. As for Choc Peanut Butter cupcakes, the chocolate cake is quite chocolatey to the point of bitterness.I like the sea salt taste on the Mocha Caramel Sea Salt cupcake which an extra kick.Total I paid $10.50 for the cupcakes. Overall the prices is reasonable, but the cakes are still a bit drier than preferred. continue reading

Was shopping in the area when I chanced upon this new stall at the basement area of far east. You may not spot it unless you wander to the back lanes. There is a particular cupcake that caught my eye, the sea salt caramel flavor which had a daring and bold looking topping on top of the mocha chocolate based muffin. I love the boldness is selling something that look like this so i supported it. It costs me $3.80 for the muffin and I simply loved it. I like such muffin where its soft to bite on, the top layer actually taste more like cream to me but it was nice. Was hoping to have more chocolate bits in the muffin though. I will support this place especially its relying on its products to sell and unlike twelve cc which leverages on celebrity couple endorsement . Maybe they can do well and look for a better location soon! continue reading

A new shop selling cupcakes at far east plaza and decided to try it out. as we cannot settle for which flavor to choose from, we gladly take the 6 mini cupcakes bundle which is the exact miniature of the regular size cup cakes on shelves. We chose flavors such as nutella chocolate, key lime, strawberry cream, bonafide, double chocolate and banana. I was surprised to find that their cake based tasted so homely! It is moist and fluffy (to me) and I guess some might prefer the more commercial one outside. but to me this is the best cake based I had. Among the flavors my favorite is the key lime and strawberry and cream. The cream cheese topping is very creamy the the sweetness is just nice. Now I know which flavor I like, I guess I will be going back to get the regular size cupcakes! continue reading
