Because I was too hungry to walk around Plaza Singapura and refuse to join the crazy queue of Tim Ho Wan (and ask for table for 1 .__.), I decided to be more adventurous and try the bratwurst, which is something I have always heard of or seen around but never tried before. So I found a seat inside The Brat, one of the places at the basement of PS just leading towards the MRT.If you don't look closely, you might think it was a take-away only outlet, but no, there are seats inside! Thank goodness for them my feet were dying from running around doing errands. Then I came face-to-face with this mini information stand teaching me to differentiate this bratwurst from that. They have the standard bratwurst with the sandwich or burgers with flavours like the Swiss Mushroom - I wanted to get that but why not just stick with their best selling ones in case I mis-ordered - which almost always accidentally happens.Premium English Pork Bratwurst ($7.50)The premium English Pork bratwurst is really juicy, savoury, and packs a lot of spices in every bite. The best part is that it's grilled too, so you can really taste a lot of flavours! They also drizzled a good deal of mustard inside. The bread was a little dry though. And that's a mountain of onion slices on top... which I only ate half of. Overall, the bratwurst - which is what they are famous for - is really good. There was also quite a steady stream of people buying take-away, I guess they do have their standard loyal customer base already for the quality they serve. A little pricey for the fullness level you can get, but good for an adventurous try out. continue reading

Sometimes you got to try something different; maybe some sausage bun. I'm generally not a big fan of sausage due to their nature tough texture. This particular night, i wished The Brat would change my impression and make me fall in love with their sausage. But oh well, their sausages are rather salty and not what i have expected. The swiss cheese pork that i have ordered does not have "melting & bursting" cheese i wanted. The spicy one does not really spice up my taste buds. The most disappointing would be the un-melted and cold cheese topping on the bun. I mean, it will definitely taste much better if the cheese is melted! Nevertheless, not everything is bad. The bun is tasty even though they are not supposed to be the main lead.Maybe i am just not a fan of sausage continue reading

Taste: The hotdog bread is dry and lack of sauce. I had to add some mustard sauce myself. Sausage is nice and juicy.Environment: The tables were quite small and cramped.Service: Staff wasn't sure if the type of fries can be changed.Clean: No problems with the cleanliness.Price: I went to eat this with a free meal coupon. Without a coupon, the price can be a little high. continue reading

I was looking for something to eat for tea and my friend suggested this place at plazasing basement which offers some sort of all day breakfast. We got the set with bacon, 2 eggs and pancakes, which, if I remember correctly, costs $7+ or $9+; I remember it being reasonably priced and below $10. I like the pancakes which were fluffy and thick, and thus very filling; it's better than average actually. Nothing special about the eggs. Bacon could be crispier. continue reading

This is a small kiosk/stall which I walk past every time I go to Plaza Singapura via MRT. And every time I walked past, I could see those delicious looking bratswurt and I tell myself: I must try it one day. So today, I did that. Thanks to CNY, there wasn't any crowd, so I got a cosy corner seat.I had smoked pork bratswurt with chilli, and some salad with a drink combo.Salad was very appetising. The sauce had a dirty brown colour that did not look good, but its taste made up for it. I am guessing it was caused by balsamic vinegar. The sour acidic punch and sweetness of the sauce went very well with the fresh vegetables. I loved the small tomatoes on the side which gives a sweet touch to the salad.I wished the cheese was melted. But still, it was good overall. The chill (meat + chilli + maybe beans?) had enough spicy kick that an Asian palate will love. Pretty sure an ang moh cannot take this. continue reading
