Brew & Bake Company is the latest newcomer to the Kent Ridge region, which adds on to the list of eateries that are in the vicinity of NUS.Four cakes are available for the day, and my dining partner chose the Kaya Cheese Cake ($5.90). Coconut shavings on the top of the cheesecake gave the pandan taste a boost, while the cake overall was airy, smooth and light. The crust was also sturdy and held up nicely while being cut through.I chose the Neapolitan ($4.90), a Strawberry Cheesecake sitting above a brownie. The clever use of the brownie saw it as a chocolate base as from usual cheesecakes with a digestive biscuit base. Despite so, the brownie layer tasted rather heavy and overwhelmed much of the flavour from the Strawberry Cheesecake, which was lightly tart with the sourness of cream cheese.Feeling slightly adventurous that day, I went to order the El-Chemist frappe ($5.90). A selection of syrups were on display, and one is supposed to squeeze out their desired flavours and amount into a test tube and pass it to the staff who would prepare your latte. My concoction was a mix of Dolce, Vanilla, Roasted Almond and Butterscotch syrups in a latte, served cold with whipping cream on the top. It had a very buttery and Bailey’s Coffee-like taste which was alluring. For the more adventurous, caramel, chocolate and lychee syrups amongst other flavours are available too.For the full review and more photos, please visit: http://jiaksimipng.wordpress.com/2014/01/24/the-brew-bake-company-clementi-road/ continue reading

This new cafe is just about 2 months old, and not alot of people knew abt them yet. So, my sis and I had the whole cafe to ourselves when we popped by for a late night baked treat on a Monday evening. We had Ice Latte & Ice Hazelnut Latte along our sweet treats. We were served by this friendly young man who gave us good recommendations since it was out first visit. Place was decorated by all our childhood toys, and cute funky sofas and tables. I hope more people get to know this little gem in the West.. =) Blueberry chesscake Rich and generous serving of blueberries. My sis love it. The Neapolitan - dark chocolate +brownie base + sweet vanillaI enjoyed this.. very rich and great contrast in texture... continue reading
